Hunter grinned. She seems to be back to normal, although her face was still grayish. “But where’s the fun in that?” She pulled his arm. “Come on. We only have so much time.”
Hunter grinned. She seems to be back to normal, although her face was still grayish. “But where’s the fun in that?” She pulled his arm. “Come on. We only have so much time.”
Kye rolled his eyes, but smiled. He'd stared to follow her when another creature launched out of nowhere, slamming into him. He was flung backwards and the creature landed on top of him digging it's claws into his chest. He let out a half shocked, half pained yell.
Hunter turned back… and froze. Kye was pinned to the ground.
Memories filtered into her mind, ones she’d rather forget.
Her brother, pinned to the ground, while she stood in terror.
Her best friend, bleeding out in her arms.
Him, staring at her with betrayal as his therapy was slit.
Coming back a sob, Hunter pulled a dagger from her belt and threw it. It spun, end over end, towards the creature, glowing deep silver.
The dagger buried itself into the creature's hide. It screeched and slipped off the edge, raking its's claws across Kye's core as it fell. Then in one last attempt to kill it's prey, it lunged and snapped it's jaws down on Kye's shoulder dragging him with it. Kye's pained cry echoing around the cave.
“Another one bites the dust.” The line came into Hunter’s head.
She snarled, a sound of pure rage, beforee running into the passage. It was more important than ever to get Order. Order could save Kye. If Hunter tried, she would kill him.
Kye felt numb. He'd hit the ground, the creature that had dragged him down had somewhat broken his fall. But he'd still hit the ground hard. Blood pooled around him, from the wounds on his chest, and the wound now in his shoulder. Everything had gone silent. The creature next to him was dead, and he would have been dead to if the creature hadn't broken most of his fall.
Hunter ran as fast as she could. Her lungs hurt, and she was still woozy from blood loss. She spotted a door and hurried towards it.
A figure emerged from the passage. It was a woman, tall and willowy, beautiful as the sun. She walked with an unhurried haste to the edge of the cliff, leaped down, landing lightly next to Kye.
She had blonde hair and glowing blue eyes, and very pale skin. She knelt next to him.
Kye twisted away from the person. "Ow," he snapped, but he pulled away anyway. He turned to look at the woman. "Who are you and what do you want?" he was breathing hard.
“Calm,” she said in a musical voice. She touched his forehead and smiled sadly. “She was right.” A glow seemed to come from her as she spoke, and travelled over Kye, healing him.
Kye looked at the woman closely. He decided that she wasn't going to kill him. At the moment anyways. "Who are you?"
“Call me Almira,” the woman said. “Though you know me as Order.”
"You are Order?" he asked looking at her.
“I am,” she said with a smile. “And you must be Kye.”
"Yes," Kye replied. "What are you doing down here?"
“Hunter told me you would be down here. She seemed worried.”
She was worried about me? he thought about it for a moment. Yeah, sure. He pushed himself to his feet. "Where is she? She is not hurt right?"
Almira laughed. “No, she’s fine. Just resting up from all thr blood she’s lost.” She stood. “Would you like to see where I spent my time in this cave?”
"Why are you in this cave?" Kye asked looking at her. "Do you even know what has been going on above ground?"
Almira’s beautiful face darkened. “I was trapped here by someone I thought I loved. I have had to stay in this cave, watching but not interfering, for almost one thousand years.”
"So how do we get you out of here?" he asked. "We need your help."
“I know,” she said. “I learned a few things while I was here that will definitely help,” she said. “Come,” Almira said, moving gracefully towards a passage that had just appeared. “Let us go to my room. I think you mig want some food and rest. And hen we can speak of the war.”
"War?" Kye looked at her, then he sighed. "Of course." He started following her.
Almira led him into a large room. It was bright and warm, and have several passageways branching off of it. Hunter was sitting in the middle of the room. Her face brightened when she saw Almira.
Kye looked at Hunter then he looked down. As he walked he focused on where he was placing his feet.
Hunter stood and walked over, hugging Almira as though she hadn’t seen her in a long time. Almira held her at arms length, looking Hunter over. “You’ve grown so much,” she breathed.
Kye moved to the back of the room to watch the encounter.
Hunter smiled a bit. “You would know,” she said softly, a smile-the first she had done in this awful place-on her face.
Kye shifted slightly, he wasn't sure what to do right now.
Almira turned to him. “I’m so sorry, my boy,” she said. “Would you like something to eat?”
Kye gave a half smile, and shook his head. "I am not hungry right now, thank you." If only you knew why… he sighed silently.
