Avery slept for a few minutes, and by the times she woke up, her stomach didn't hurt anymore. She decided to go back up and see how their progress was coming, running her fingers through her hair a few times to tame it before she left her cabin.

When she arrived on deck, she noticed Dylan and Vaughn talking.

"Hey, guys," she greeted them with a nod.

Vaughn gave a hum in response, the corners of his lips twitching up into a faint smile for a quick second before going away.

Avery caught the quick smile and grinned.

"Was that an almost smile?" she asked teasingly. Turning to Dylan, she exclaimed, "I think Mr. Stoic here almost smiled!"

Vaughn rolled his eyes and slowly shook his head. “Emphasis on almost. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Maybe the medicine is making you see things,” he responded. He felt the urge to laugh bubbling up inside his chest, but he kept it back.

"Alright, give the poor man some space." Dylan nodded to Vauhgn, hoping he understood the sign of respect, "We'll see him smile when we're back on land, I'm sure."

Dylan checked the program in his head, and ran with it. The ship slowed as he observed through. Finding nothing wrong, he let the ship speed back on it's way, and opened his eyes again.

Vaughn’s jaw clenched slightly, but his shoulders relaxed. He was slightly greatful for Dylan’s response, in that moment.

@Mr.Misfit

Dylan read the feed he was getting from the ship's "Computer." It put him about half the way there, maybe a little less. That, and there was a breeze picking up. No changes in the numbers yet, but it was getting there.

"We've got a little bit more, in the sense that we have roughly a day of travel? Maybe two, if the wind comes to bear. The unfortunate part of making shadows solid is they act like it."

@Mr.Misfit

Dylan nodded his affirmation, "So in the meantime, we ought to be at least pretending to be productive…"

@Mr.Misfit

"In my cabin, I'll go nab it really quick." said Dylan. He kicked open the hatch and went down, leaving the two of them alone for a little bit.

Avery let out a heavy sigh and walked over to the railing. She looked out across the deep-blue water for a moment, then turned back around to face Vaughn. Resting her back against the rails, she took a deep breath and looked down at her hands.

Speaking quietly, she said, "Yeah. Yeah, I do like him, okay? But I just–" She took another deep breath before starting again, "My last boyfriend ended up being a supervillain. He didn't (and still doesn't) know that I'm Aspect, but I found out who he was. And he killed my parents. I mean, technically, that was an accident, and he told me he would change it if he could go back in time, but I just couldn't take that. And that's why I haven't said anything about my feelings to Dylan. 'Cause I don't wanna be heartbroken again…"

@Desvelarse pets

Vaughn nodded slowly as he considered what Avery said. “Listen.. You aren’t allowed to tell him I said this, but Dylan seems like a good guy. I don’t know him well, and I don’t know you that well either. But you both seem like good people. And I’ve observed some intimate looks shared between the two of you. I know the look, I’ve been in relationships before.”

Avery blushed and looked back over the water.

"Um… Thanks, I guess? I wonder what's taking Dylan so long?" she asked, changing the somewhat uncomfortable topic.

@Desvelarse pets

Vaughn looked away as well, tilting his head up towards the sky. It happened again. That was his argument with Veronica. He was either too emotionless and cold, or he talked his mouth off. “Maybe he can’t find it,” he suggested, expression set in stone again.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

"Hm. Maybe," Avery agreed, nodding. A sudden wave of dizziness washed over her, making her vision tilt. "I've gotta sit down," she mumbled, doing just that.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Avery closed her eyes and pulled her knees up to her chest, putting her head between them in hopes that it would help make her dizziness go away. She took a few deep breaths, and, after a few minutes, she felt a bit better.
