She glared daggers at the light, but stayed quiet.
She glared daggers at the light, but stayed quiet.
Kye began moving towards it, keeping low and keeping silent. He watched the shape as it moved along as well. There was something odd about it.
Hunter shivered, eyeing the light.
Kye glanced back noticing her shiver, but he didn't comment on it. He felt it better to treat people as if they can take care of themselves. Being treated like you couldn't do anything was the worst. he continued forwards, getting closer to the creature.
Hunter stared at the light, her eyes hard. She moved towards it, silent.
As Kye neared the creature he realized that it had stopped. It was staring in his direction, but not at him, past him. He turned a little, staying silent, and could see Hunter moving towards the light source. The creature was staring right at her.
Hunter scowled at the creature. "You," she hissed, hatred brewing through her. "I should have known."
Kye looked between the two, and started moving a little closer to Hunter. He was moving slowly, as to not bring a lot of attention to himself. His hand had gone back to his dagger, in his satchel. Whatever this creature was he could feel the power radiating from it.
"Hunter…" the creature said, a smirk on its face. "Fancy seeing you here."
Hunter scowled harder. "You knew I would be here."
Kye stopped his advance towards Hunter and decided to pull his disappearing act. He pulled back into the shadows completely vanishing. Hopefully Hunter wouldn't kill him for it later.
He was moving towards the creature again. Completely silent, staying down wind, and out of sight.
"Guilty as charged," the creature smirked.
Hunter rolled her eyes. Where is he? She almost looked for him, then thought better of it, glaring into the glowing red eyes of the thing.
By this point Kye had placed himself right next to the creature. He was still completely out of sight. Now it was time for the confusion to start. "And who do we have here?" he threw his voice so it sounded like he was halfway across the cave.
The creature started. It glanced around warily, and Hunter laughed.
Kye changed his voice so he sounded like a different person. "Oh, it's just a dimwit, no one important," he threw it to a different part of the cave.
The creature's eyes burned bright with anger. "Who's there? Show yourself, coward!"
Kye refrained from laughing and changed his voice again, throwing it to another part of the cave. "Nah, we'd prefer to stay out of sight, we'd scare the pants off of you," he taunted.
The creature began to burn, flames rising from it. Hunter smirked inwardly, retreating into the shadows. If he continued this, the creature would burn.
Kye decided to move. Jumping around the cave silently and with speed. His laugh echoed around the cave bouncing off the walls and sounding like it was traveling away from them. "Well, someone seems a bit hot headed. Need some ice?"
No! Hunter thought. She shook her head sharply.
Kye suddenly appeared in front of the creature. He was facing away from the light, so his front half was dark, but his eyes seemed to be glowing dark purple. "You should be careful," his voice sounded like that of some sort of demon. "We wouldn't want someone to get hurt here."
Hunter jumped.
The creature snarled and burst into flames. Hunter knew what was about to happen. She ran at Kye, tackling him to the ground and covering him with her body. A moment later, the creature exploded.
Kye didn't stick around, to his and Hunter's luck she had planted them right by a hole in the ground. With Hunter on top of him, he pushed off a rock and pulled down into the hole. He landed hard on his back but not a huge distance down. Flames burst through the hole and engulfed both of them.
Hunter grunted. Her back burned, and she hurt all over, but she stood.
Kye shifted slightly without getting up. His arm was slightly burned, but otherwise, only his back hurt. "Hunter, are you okay?"
"I'm fine," she said, holding back a wince. She felt blood drip down her mangled back, but she ignored it. "Let's keep looking. Order won't find herself."
Kye's sharp ears caught the sound of liquid dripping on the rocks. It wasn't his, so it had to be hers. He turned himself to his side, and pushed himself up. "No, you're not fine," he decided. Pushing your luck much? She could kill you in less than two minutes if she wanted.
"Yes I am," Hunter said, rolling her eyes. She glanced at him out of the corner of her eyes. "So, how'd you do that voice thing? You have magic?"
"No, it just takes practice. I spend a lot of time down in caves, I know how they work. It just takes knowing how the cave works, and a little bit of voice tweaking to do something like that," Kye responded. She's changing the subject.
"Nice," Hunter said. She started walking down the roomy hall, holding back a wince.
Kye watched her closely, it was difficult to see because they'd left their light source up top. So he pulled out his torch and lit it with more speed than he had previously. He could now see her back clearly. "You know, I get that you are extremely capable of taking care of yourself, and I know that it probably isn't my business to tell you what to do. But you are not fine, and you need to at least let me treat that."
