While Asher was waiting for the interviewers to say something to him, he showed a page of his sketch book to Zoey. It wasn’t a sentence but rather a picture. It was a map and interior diagram of the circus.

Back when he was punished for always being late and going into weird places, he was gathering information about the place and managed to draw a map of it in his sketch book.

Zoey raised an eyebrow. "That's awesome." She looked at it closely, tracing it lightly with a finger.

Asher, while still looking at Tempest, pointed to a small note he made on the top left corner of the page he was showing to Zoey.
This took way longer than I initially wanted but it was definitely worth it was written in small letters with a small smiling face next to it.

She nodded enthusiastically, her eyes tracing each line and committing them to memory. "Pencil?" She whispered, reaching out a hand.

Asher retracted his left hand and grabbed a pencil from his suit’s pocket. “Here.” he whispered.

She nodded, writing her letters carefully on the corner of the paper. Have you seen the whole group of tents?

Asher read the text. “Never seen the whole group” he whispered.

She nodded, thinking hard. She tapped the map once more, thoughtfully. There can't be that many. we're the only acts he has.

Aisen reached out his hand to get his pencil back. While he did that, he kept the sketch book back in his suitcase.

She handed him the pencil, rocking back on her heels and standing. She looked around, her eyes picking out the strangers and the ringmaster.

Sky felt herself looking around subconsciously, feeling a need to guard the people like her from everyone else. Especially the Ringmaster. The only thing keeping her here was her fear of drowning and her worries of the others. She was used to being tossed around like a toy, but she was scared for everyone else, especially under the Ringmaster's power.

Thank God I didn't miss my cue. Eli thought before running out into the ring. The room darkened a bit, causing some people in the audience to gasp quietly. He waited for a few seconds until there was an almost uncomfortable silence before he created a circle of fire around him, causing some more audible gasps. Then he reached for the two batons he carried around and he lit the ends of them on fire. He juggled the batons for a few seconds, twirling them around and even daring to throw them close to the audience. Finally, he snuffed out all the fire, sending the room into darkness for a few more seconds. It was a simple performance, but Eli didn't have enough energy for anything more.
