"Oh–um–sure," Lilly answered after a moment's hesitation. She hoped none of the popular kids would notice her, and hoped Jay wouldn't be there. Especially since her mother would be there.
"Oh–um–sure," Lilly answered after a moment's hesitation. She hoped none of the popular kids would notice her, and hoped Jay wouldn't be there. Especially since her mother would be there.
Helen registered the hesitation, of course, but couldn't bring herself to back out. It'd been a while since they'd had the time for any quality moments.
She smiled gratefully at her daughter before running up to her room to grab her purse, grabbing Lilly's school bag on the way down.
She set the bags down near the front door and starting gearing up for the chill weather.
Lilly smiled back, sighing after her mother had left. What if Richard and the popular kids were there? God, she'd never be able to live that down.
She glanced at her mother when she came down and smiled at her, letting her backpack stay in a chair as she put on her converse.
Helen slung her bag over her bag, having put her latest manuscript inside.
She looked up at Lilly, who looked preoccupied. "You alright, honey?" she asked quickly.
Lilly snapped out of her daydreaming, glancing at her mother and quickly nodding in reply. "Mhm! Why did you ask?"
Helen studied Lilly's face. "You seem preoccupied, that's all," she justified. She tugged the front door open without looking away from the girl.
"Oh, okay then," Lilly replied, following her mother out the door. I swear to god if Jay touches me when I'm with Mom, I'll skin him alive.
(How are you?)
Unsure of what to say, Helen let silence fall. "What's ISP on?" she asked after a while.
(Happy /early/ birthday!)
(Lol thank you!)
"Photography, obviously," Lilly answered in a tone that made it seem like her mother should have known.
Helen bit her lip guiltily, looking away from Lilly. You absolute moron, she scolded herself.
"Right." Her voice came out breathy, though she didn't bother hiding it. "I'm sorry I didn't think of that, it's quite obvious," she said with a forced smile. "Silly me."
Lilly smiled back, feeling a bit bag when she realized her mother felt guilty. "Yes, silly you, indeed."
Helen nodded. She was about to say something else when the school came into view. "Oh," she murmured, staring out at the bustling grounds. "I'll let you off here then," she said considerately, glancing down at Lilly. "We wouldn't want your embarrassing mom to taint your reputation, now would we?"
Lilly chuckled. "As if I have one, it's not like all the girls and boys want to be friends with me," She replied sarcastically, glancing at her school and looking around for a second to see if Jay was here or not.
"Oh!" This was surprising to Helen, actually. Lilly seemed like a cool kid in relation to modern standards. "Well, I'll let you find your friends. See you tonight, yeah? Try to be home before 8 o'clock," she requested, smoothing Lilly's hair affectionately.
Lilly's face flushed a bit, nodding in response. "Yep!" She replied, smiling brightly at her mother before heading towards her school.
Helen watched Lilly bounce off towards the school, a slight pang of guilt hitting her heart. Maybe she shouldn't of come, and let Lilly meet up with her friends or whatever she usually did.
Sighing to herself, she shouldered her bag and walked off towards work.
Lilly smiled brightly at her friend who had walked up to her, also smiling brightly. "Hey, Alice."
"Hey, Evans. Potter is here, watch out for him." Alice warned her. Lilly nodded in response, knowing very well she was talking about her crush.
(Jily is life along with Wolfstar, Drarry, and Scorbus)
(should we maybe play other characters on and off so it isn't a one way day every time?)
Hugging her bag of files to her chest, Helen made her way to the bus stop– Lilly seemed nervous about school… but it was probably just stress and schoolwork. But what if it wasn't? She'd said some things about friends, or lack thereof… was she lonely? Bullied? Or was Helen overthinking it?
Convincing herself to let it go and let Lilly come to her if it was needed, Helen looked up just in time to see her bus drive past. With a self-deprecating sigh, she set off walking.
(Jily is life
along with Wolfstar, Drarry, and Scorbus)
(BIG. F***ING. AGREE.)
(Sure!)
Lilly quickly tensed up when she felt someone tap her shoulder and turned around, her face turning pink when she saw 'Potter.' Goodness, how could someone this perfect be alive? His amazing hazel eyes which were like kaleidoscopes, and his brown hair which looked so amazing and perfect, along with tan skin that wasn't too tan but not too pasty either. God, how was he so perfect? "Oh–um–H-Hey, Ajax."
(Also, YES, FINALLY! Someone finally agrees with me and isn't disgusted)
(I'm loving these HP parallels XD)
(Also, what characters did you have in mind that I could ease into?)
(Also, W O L F S T A R)
Within 20 minutes of walking Helen was at her office. "Good morning, Janet," she greeted the receptionist, who stonily nodded and buzzed her in. Helen headed for the elevator and watched the single person in the elevator observe her run for the open door but make no move it stop it from closing.
Helen came to a stop in front of the closed lift and waited. Great start.
(Lol same here)
(Umm, maybe her friends? and you could do Ajax if you wanted to)
(Also, YESSS, THEY'RE SO DAMN CUTE)
"Hey, Evans, will you finally accept my love?" He asked, knowing Lilly knew he was joking.
Lilly felt her heart shatter a bit, knowing very well he was joking since everyone thought they looked like Lily and James Potter. "Even if you were the last person on earth, I would rather kill myself than marry you."
"Cold, unnecessarily cold, Evans." He put his hands in his pockets, a small smile on his lips.
"That's kind of what I was going for, Potter." She replied sarcastically, returning the smile with one as sarcastic as her reply.
Ajax kept his grin, leaning onto the locker beside Lilly. "How was your morning then?" he mused, picking at his nails.
(helen is a lonely one :( so is it alright if you just sort of fill in now and then?)
When she finally arrived the coffee machine had been run dry and the desks were all full. She weaved to her own and went to knock at the boss's glass door.
(Sure! Also, I relate with Helen)
"Normal, like always," Lilly answered, opening her locker and opening it pretty far so she wouldn't have to look at Ajax which would make her less shy. "Also, you need to leave soon. Snape usually comes around this time."
The man looked up when he heard a knock and smiled at Helen, signalling for her to come in as he closed his Chromebook.
"Greasy-haired prick. He shall not get in the way of our love!" Ajax announced dramatically, waving a finger in the air.
"Good morning, Mr. Lupin," she greeted meekly. "I've got the manuscript for the latest sci-fi work, as you asked."
She carefully shut the door behind her.
(LuPiN!)
Lilly laughed softly, closing her locker after she took out the stuff she needed. "I wish it was that easy and he doesn't even have greasy-hair." She had been about to head to the entrance but stopped in her tracks when she saw Jay, looking very pissed at Lilly. Her heart sped up again, not in a good way, as she quickly walked to him, smiling softly at him. "Hey, Jay."
"Ah yes, thank you, Evans," He replied, smiling softly at her, as he signaled for her to sit down.
(is this abusive boyfriend Jay)
Helen obeyed and sat, sliding the fat file over the desk to her boss.
(I had to XP)
(booped)
(Sorry! And yis)
Lilly couldn't help but tense up when she felt his arm slide around her and lead her to the bathroom. Oh god, what is he going to do now?
~~~
Remus took the file and opened it, skimming over it and stopping at a few important pages to read over it. "Nice work."
(To be honest, I'm glad you did)
