So, I was re-reading Ms. Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children, and I was reading about Emma's backstory, about how she went to go to a circus. And it made me think: what if there was a circus of strange and/or magical children, but in reality it was a prison?
The Shining Stars Circus is full of Miracles: children with unusual talents or abilities. People from all over the world come to see them, and they are admired. The Miracles always look clean and happy, but that's really just a front. They are mistreated and beaten, and locked away when they aren't performing. Everyone wants to escape: except they are too scared to, because of the Ringmaster.

Appearance: Fairly tall and delicate, short scruffy black hair and green eyes, covered in a thin layer of scales that can change colors
Personality: She pretends to be quiet, but she's remarkably stubborn and she will beat people up if they make her too angry or hurt the people she tries to protect.
Weakness: She's highly allergic to glass, as it contradicts most of her powers. She also hates seeing other people get hurt (unless she's the one hurting them)
Power(s): Scales that change color and are very strong, a very limited supply of venom inside her teeth (The glass contradicts the venom) and has a pair of also scaled dragon wings.

Personality: Skylar, although she appears and acts tough, cares for the people around her, especially the young and elderly. She would easily give her food to them, only acting tough around the Ringmaster and hostile people.
Weakness: Water (she's unable to swim), Confined spaces (claustrophobic), and Sky's scared that the Ringmaster will harm the others (she prefers to be tortured herself than have anyone else be hurt. She's very kind-hearted.)
Power(s): She can use her wings to fly at any time, and she can chose to show or hide them accordingly. Besides that, she's still human and can bleed like anyone else.

Name: Elliot Fletcher (Eli)

Age: 17
Gender: Male
Appearance: He has wavy, black hair that is never tamed and is cut off beneath his ears. His skin is a lighter olive color that makes it nearly impossible to guess his ethnicity. His eyes are a pale green color that have a golden ring around the pupils, and he has a lazy eye (his left one). While he doesn't nessisarily have a muscular build, his arms are rather buff and he has great upper body strength. He is 5'6". He prefers to wear tank tops when he performs so there isn't loose fabric that could catch fire. He also wears black pants and black ankle boots, with a matching black jacket.
Personality: He is extremely loyal to his friends to a gracious extent. He would be willing to break rules and rebel only if someone else is as well, and prefers to stay away from the leadership role. He is generally a very peppy person and loves joking around. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't sleep well at night so he has a tendency to take random naps and get tired quickly.
Weakness: The general fear of his fire getting out of his control, damp rooms or areas with high humidity
Power(s): Polyglot (can learn languages very quickly) and Pyrokinesis
Other: Biromantic (leans towards guys) and asexual
