(I CHANGED ZE TITLE!!
"Was it always like that?" Alaric frowned, but kept dancing, "Even when you were a kid?"
"Pretty much." said Skye, "Ever since he found out he could control me.."
"That sucks." Just then a bell ringed and their orders were slid across the counter. Alaric nodded and walked back over, making a mental note to get some sleep later.
Skye grabbed his, sipping it. "This is really good." he said, looking up at Alaric. And I'm hanging out with a nice, and cute guy…
Alaric sipped his mysterious drink through a silly straw. It burned the back of his throat, but he didn't care to notice. He was more interested in the face Skye was making as he marvelled over his sweet drink. Alaric decided he should ask the question he'd been wanting to ask from the start. "Are you being serious with this whole– 'friend' thing?"
(btw i laughed at the title change omg)
"Why wouldn't I be?" asked Skye, "I mean.. there's never been anyone my age around.."
(Yeah, I know it's dumb, Also I just realized that the character templet I had up, I meant to change the age back to 19… OOF)
"Hmm," Alaric swirled his straw in his drink, "I just don't get it. How do you put up with all this but remain so calm? All the mob kids my age back south get into trouble and probably end up overdosing or something." He fidgeted with his sleeve,
"I got problems, Skye. I know you do too. But how are you so…nice?"
"I don't know… honestly I don't…" said Skye, "I guess it's just who I am… no matter what I promised I'd stick to who I am… and… well… I've done just that as best I can…" he sighed. "That and having a natural aversion to drugs and smoking kinda helps…"
Alaric nodded. Skye made it sound so easy. He thought back to all the times he'd fought people in the street, the sight of so many red flowers, and the dark. Rick pulled his sleeves over his hands self-consciously and laughed nervously,
"So you're like, allergic?"
"No, I just don't like it," said Skye, "That and I have a genetic resistance to anything of the sort, and it just smells horrible."
"Ahh," Alaric chuckled, "So you're like, allergic" He took another sip,
"I think it's comforting. Like, almost, stimulating. I don't know. Life can be awfully still sometimes." Rick shrugged, "Colours fade."
"I'm not allergic!" said Skye, "Just.. repulsed.." he sighed. "I could do drugs if I really wanted to, but the smell, and the taste, and everything about it, it doesn't make me sick or anything, I just don't like it."
"Hmm," He nodded, "I get it." Alaric turned to face him. "So you're not addicted? To anything?" He sounded surprised but felt his face heat up, when he kind of processed what he'd said. "Sorry– That came out wrong."
"Other than not sleeping and sneaking out?" said Skye, "Nope, I'm not. And probably never will be."
"Yeah, you seem to like toeing the line of trouble." Alaric chuckled, "But addiction, yeah that's what I thought too."
"What about you?" asked Skye, "Got anything non medical?'
(idk what u mean sorry i only have 1 1/2 braincells)
(Does he have any addictions himself?)
"Mh, just smokin' when I'm not feeling too good, but," He took a bigger sip of his drink, "A few years back, things were really bad at home. Found mom's old prescription." Alaric shrugged and looked down shamefully. He'd never told anyone about this.
Skye frowned, "Do you still take the meds?" he asked, slightly concerned.
"Nah, nah," He shook his head, "Just on.. y'know, bad days. But I'm better now, yeah. Yeah, a few years back. Shit really hit the fan"
Skye nodded, he felt bad for the other. "Sorry to hear that.." he said, finishing up his milkshake. "What say we go for that swim huh?"
"Mhm, yeah." Alaric raked his hand through his light hair, feeling tired. "Were leavin' Thanks for the drinks!" He paid for their drinks and headed for the door. As they walked out, Rick heard the owner muttering to himself, "Still trouble."
Skye watched him as they left. "Did you ever get any sleep?" he asked. "I mean, you look tired.."
"Nah, I meant to, after going to the warehouse." He shook his head, "But I knew I wouldn't make it to my meds if I did." Alaric almost laughed at the memory of passing out on the sidewalk. He would've been dead by morning. "I will…later."
Skye sighed, "Your choice, just don't drown on me" he said, leading the way down an alley and then up a fire escape.
"Hmph, yeah I'll try not to." He said and quirked a brow as they walked up a fire escape, "Skye, where are we going?"
