She cocked her head in agreement "Makes sense. uhm….I honestly don't know what else to ask. Tell me something interesting about yourself, or about Maradova."
She cocked her head in agreement "Makes sense. uhm….I honestly don't know what else to ask. Tell me something interesting about yourself, or about Maradova."
Kerrian let out a low rumble as he thought, "Well, my counter part, my human counter part didn't accept me, or who he was for a while."
"were you a danger to your counterpart? or just didn't know how to work harmoniously together?" she asked. She felt the same with her wolf counterpart, which had led to many sleepless nights of debating whether to be a queen or run wild and never come back. "I get that…its torture sometimes. But I wouldn't trade it in for the world. not now."
"He wouldn't accept me, he felt as if he had to be all dragon or all human," He sighed a little, "It took a while, but when he realised who he was and accepted me," He smiled a little, "I wouldn't trade it for anything, either."
"He learned to find balance" she concluded, glancing away from the intensity in Kerrian's eyes. "Imagine if that's how everything worked? relationships, quarrels, friendship, love, hate,…everything. Finding the perfect balance. Pretty boring."
He huffed a laugh, "Maybe, but I would rather the world be boring then out of balance or at war."
She nodded, her face shadowing over with anger as well as sadness "So you've heard of the proposed war against Maradova and the surrounding kingdoms? great." She dropped her head into her hands "I don't know how I'm going to stop them. Yes we have an amazing army, and yes Drake is trying his best to suppress the anger from his own people, but I feel as if it's not enough." she breathed in a shaky sigh and picked her head up "I'm sorry. I shouldn't be worrying you about my own problems."
"I am as much apart of this world as you are, and it is my home so it is not just your problem," Kerrian's tail twitched a little, the blue on his body flaring for a moment, "If you're going to win, you need allies. The man who is waging war is no normal human, in fact I doubt he is human at all. His armies aren't just men, they're creatures of darkness, you need to not also ally with humans, but with magical creature, too."
She nodded, taking in the information "Great, so we're facing creatures of darkness as well as humans. The other kingdoms do have reason to fear Maradova." she realized with sadness. "How do you know of this? and why come tell me this now when I'm fairly certain the Kingdom of Maradova are at their worst now? why come out at all if you know what fine lines we walk?" she asked, suspicion rising in her tone.
"I have my reasons., Queen. And I know all of this because have seen it, lived it and feared it all before," He growled, "I am trying to help and if you don't want that, I'll leave you alone and you can face these horrors only to find out you are way out of your depth." His eyes narrowed, the only indication he was losing his cool a little.
She gave a humorlessly laugh "you'd be stupid to lose the only ally Maradova has ever had. And I apologies if I seem conflicted when it comes to where those I can trust fall in the spectrum.” She looked up at Kerrian “Understand this. I wish to never make and enemy with Maradova. Its one of the reasons I married Drake…I wanted our kongdoms to end this war once and for all.”
"And understand this," He lifted his head to point a claw at her chest, "You may have been united in marriage, but the strength of your kingdom and his won't be enough to end the war. And becoming suspicious of those trying to help will lower your list of allies. And believe me, you need strong allies."
She contemplated this for a moment, knowing he was right. "Do you know if the marriage made tensions worse?" She asked softly, almost not wanting to voice her fears to a stranger she had met the day before "was it a mistake to marry the man I love, only to lose him and his kingdom all once?"
Kerrian sighed, lowering his claw and his head back to their previous position, “Val, Drake’s kingdom was lost before the marriage. It was lost the moment the tried to renounce his throne and he knows it,” He sighed through his nose, “It was not a mistake to marry him, and deep down he knows it wasn’t a mistake, either.”
She sighed and nodded, not questioning how he knew any of this, assuming that everything he said was based off his own opinion. "Do you have family in Maradova?" She asked, wanting to change the topic
“Not anymore,” Kerrian replied, a hint of sadness crossing his eyes, “Sadly they passed in the last war.”
"I'm sorry.” was all she could think to say. “We’ll fix this, we have to.” She muttered to herself
“I know. We will. We’ll end the war and finally have peace between the kingdoms.” He looked up towards the sky.
"hopefully that'll happen sooner than later." She said. "Wanna fly, dragon?" She asked with a grin, noticing that he was looking up at the sky
Kerrian chuckled and shook his big head a little, “I’m sure I’ll be flying soon enough, I’m comfortable on the ground currently.”
"hm, a dragon who would prefer to be on the ground than the sky, now that is a first." She said with a laugh " tell me Kerruan, is your human counterpart so keen on staying the ground as you are?"
“Ah. He doesn’t have a preference. Though he needs the thrill of flying often.” Kerrian replied.
She nodded "they need that adrenaline rush to keep them sane." She nodded, eyes turning wolfish then back to normal
Kerrian chuckled, “I see you’re speaking from experience.”
She smiled shyly "yeah, my counter part loves the rush of the thrill. She's crazier than me if you can believe it."
“I can. It’s the same with me, though my other half and I aren’t the craziest you’ll ever meet. We’d rather a life of peace and quiet then anything.” Kerrian cracked a lazy smile.
Val stood and stretched, "I don't know about you, but I think I need to let some energy out. You coming?" She offered with a smile
“Where are we going?” He asked, lifting his head and stretched out his large wings.
She shrugged "no clue. Wherever she wants to go." She started off running, then jumped into the air, shifting half way and landing hard oner front paw. She glanced back at Kerrian and howled
Kerrian let out a small rumble in response, stretching out the rest of his body and giving his wings a flap before following.
