But why do they go to him in the first place?
But why do they go to him in the first place?
Because his Contracts don't do anything to the Human recipient. Basically it's a free pass to him and his body if they want it.
Hmmmmmmmmmm okay. I'm just trying to think how this would work, but i guess we can just get into it.
Idk let's just try and roll with it. Want me to start?
It's all you
Hnnnnrnnggghhhh ok late night and at a booksho
Lol Yep
Hrnrngnghnnngnnhhnnhh alright let's start this bitch off
It was rather late at a stunning 3:42. Zack put his arm down, shaking his flannel sleeve back over his watch as he laid out on the rooftop of a homey bookstore he found and was waiting to open. He was stretched out with his head on the risen part of the roof, with his long legs stretched out so he was comfortably laying on his back, on a roof, mind you. It didn't look too comfortable for the Demon, whose large, black angelic wings were curled around him protectively. He was dozing lightly, his eyelids drooping slowly, his arm slowly falling to meet its brother, who was stagnant on the rocky ground below him. Above him, was the shining cresent moon, who was throwing meek rays of light down at him. It was very far from morning, but Zack had been there since twelve or one that night.
Viggo was hustling down the street, his breath a bit harsher than was comfortable as he hastened. He was running towards the shop, late as per usual. it was his job to open today and he had, of course, overslept. He hoped no one was waiting. He muttered curses to himself under his breath as he came up to the door, quickly unlocking it. Viggo was a night owl, mornings just weren't this thing.
Zack stirred slowly awake when he heard footsteps on pavement, angry mutters and a unlock of a door. A Human must have arrived, but it was still quite late. The occurrence confused Zack but it made him rise from his comfy position to the edge of the building, where he peered down curiously. Indeed, the lights were coming on. He jumped off the building with flapping support of his wings, and they shivered before curling up and fading.
Viggo was still muttering to himself as he shouldered his way into the shop. Thankfully he was alone, so there would be no one to chew him out. He dropped his bag into his locker in the back room, bringing a few coffee supplies with him out into the front to get the morning joe ready.
He sighed in relief once he got through his morning tasks. Now if his boss showed up there would no need to get mad at him…again.
Spotting someone just outside the door he glanced up at the clock. Technically they weren't open until 5 but he was feeling a bit nice today. Smiling gently, he stepped towards the door.
Zack noticed the early worker wander away into the back, presumably to check in and do his early-morning duties. So the Demon decided to sit awkwardly near the store until the other spotted him. He heard the door open and glanced up, grinning and standing slowly.
"Hello, sorry about the early-morning visit," He said with a small bow.
(Ah)
"Uh… well hello. Were you waiting to come in?" Viggo asked, bracing the door open with his foot. "We aren't open for a while yet, but I feel bad just having you wait out here in the cold." He ran a hand through his hair and jerked a thumb over his shoulder. "Coffee?"
"Yeah, I wasn't sure if you were open yet or not. The sign said five. It's okay, I the cold doesn't bother me much," He said nonchalantly, trotting up at a non-threatening pace and weaving himself into the store. "Coffee sounds wonderful, I'd love a cup." He looked around the store with a small sigh, inhaling the new-book smell.
Viggo had no idea what he was doing. Other than being nice. Suddenly he was a bit nervous. Stepping around the man he quickly poured two cups of steaming brown coffee. He couldn't help the soft smile that crossed his face as the earthy scent hit him. "Cream and sugar?" He asked over his shoulder. He dropped a piece of chocolate into his mug and stirred, waiting for it to melt before adding cream. It was easier to talk to the man when he wasn't looking at him. Damn my social anxiety.
"No thank you," Zack hummed softly in response as he picked at a book about Ancient Egyptians. He pulled it out slowly, examined the cover before flipping it open. It was a colorful children's book (one of those thicker ones, though) with a lot of bright colors and earthy shades mixed together. He smiled a bit as he browsed through it, secretly wishing he had been up with the Humans when they were around.
Viggo hummed in acceptance of the man's request and gently put the mug of steaming coffee on the shelf next to him. "So what brings you around? Looking for something in particular?" He asked curiously. He took a sip of his coffee, scowled, and plopped another piece of chocolate into the mug.
"Not really," Zack admitted before putting the book back and drinking some of the warm coffee. The bitter taste danced on his tongue and it warmed his chest as it went down. "Mmm, good coffee. Where'd you get it from?" He asked conversationally, turning to the Human.
Viggo tilted his head a bit to try and get a glimpse of the coffee bag that was now in the trash. No luck. "I believe it's from Selma's." He said softly, naming a comfy cafe just down the street. "Although, I wouldn't quote me on that." He chuckled and brushed his light hair out of his eyes.
Zack watched the Human brush hair out of his eyes with a grin. His white, sharp teeth glinted in the soft lights of the office space they were in. He stroked the back of his head as he drained the rest of his cup, tossing the paper cup into the trash as well.
"Thanks for the coffee." He relaxed his hand with a small yawn, his teeth jutting out at the Human. So, any good books you recommend?"
"Ah. Well that certainly is a loaded question." Viggo chuckled, gesturing around them he added, "As you can see I have quiet a collection. What is your favorite genre? Let's start there." He swirled his coffee once more, delighted at the taste. His magic carefully swept through the shop as well, dusting of shelves and making things shine a little brighter.
"Um… I think I'm just looking to browse today…" Zack responded thoughtfully as he gazed around the bookstore with Viggo's waving arm. "It's all so pleasant, really. But what books do you personally recommend for some passerby to read?" He watched the dust get lifted and poofed away with a small smile. He wondered idly what type of magic the young male had.
Viggo frowned a bit at the question, his brow furrowing thoughtfully. He hummed as he thought, continuing to sip his coffee as he stepped towards the middle of the store. His eyes scanned the shelves in practiced sweeps, obviously looking for something he was very familiar with. "Ah! This one. Perfect for the fleeting adventurous heart." Viggo claimed as he handed the other man a book bound in deep blue cloth.
Zack followed behind the bookish man with a sweep around the store, trying to point out any titles he recognized. Though the Demon wasn't really a bookish person, so he didn't know many. He focused back on the other when he approached, sitting up in posture and nodding. He took the book carefully, turning it over in his hands.
"It seems to be a book you like," Zack observed, glancing at Viggo's face.
Viggo shrugged casually, taking another sip of his coffee. "It's a classic. Everyone should read it at least once in their lifetime." Truth was, he wasn't exactly sure why he had selected it from the shelf. He supposed that fate had come down and slapped him with the idea.
"Hmm… it's a classic I will have to try and hopefully enjoy, then," Zack responded, trying to sound as intelligent and knowledgeable about books as the Human in front of him did. Hopefully he was putting on a good enough face. "Would I buy it or would I just borrow it and have to bring it back?"
