Cain blinked, its depthless black eyes boring into the human. "I don't know. I'm a Kelpie–I don't pay attention to human concepts."

"Oh. Right." He rubbed his temples in obvious frustration.

The water horse snorted and continued in search of food. Maybe a nice, plump rabbit is around here… "Kelpies are not of either sex, but we can alter our appearances and voices to suit those we are around." Cain suggested. Perhaps this will put the human more at ease.

He tilted his head. "I don't like where this is going." Is it trying to make a pass at me?

"If you prefer, I can make myself look human to put you more at ease." Cain was completely blank-faced, its voice deadpan.

Oh, shit. "I can't really….see you, so it doesn't matter either way."

Cain snorted and shook its head, making its voice more masculine just in case. (I'm tired of referring to Cain as an 'it'. My own fault) "Very well. I'm going to hunt."
