Caleb struggled to get to his feet, scrolling through the security videos on his phone rapidly. Suddenly he froze a video and zoomed in. "I think I've got it." He sent a screen shot to Hack, texting, "Clear up the image and run a face recognition."
Caleb looked at her, stopping his attempts at getting up. He placed a hand on her shoulder. "No. You couldn't have expected this. No one ever would. Trust me. I've been on the planning end for a living, remember? He or she wanted to do it when you least expected it."
Caleb sighed and took his hand off, looking at the light drizzle of rain, looking helpless. Suddenly his phone pinged. He looked down. "THAT SON OF A BITCH!!" He screamed, lunching to his feet off of pure rage.
Caleb snarled at his phone. "I'M GONNA KILL THAT MOTHERFUCKER!!" He started limping quickly for his cycle. "I found who we're looking for. And he's gonna fucking die."
"caleb" she said in a warning kinadve way.
Caleb stopped and turned to look at her, "What?"
"Don't go hurting yourself or your daughter" she said getting up and starting to walk past him.
Caleb scowled. "I would never hurt Lizzie, and you don't have any right to go and tell me not to hurt myself." He stalked off towards his motorcycle again.
"and I have no right to let you see your daughter".
Caleb froze, stiffening. "You're right.."
"I know I hurt you but I didn't have a choice but it doesn''t give you a reason to treat me crappy".
Caleb stayed silent as he swung onto the motorcycle, his clothes clinging to his body from the dampness.
she got into her black jeep.
A large man came into veiw "hello princess," he purred
" Leave me alone…" Lizzie mumbled through tears
"Don't worry I'm not going to hurt you, here, eat." He handed her some food
"No! I want my mommy!"
""god lizzie I hope your alright.".
Caleb motioned to Briar in her car to follow him as he pulled on his goggles and sped out of the driveway, his motorcycle silent rather than the normal roar one would expect from the contraption.
she hestitantly followed behind him.
Caleb went slower than normal, guiding her through many backroads until they arrived at a large complex of warehouses. He stopped at the gate entrance and swung off his bike, pulling his goggles and helmet off.
she quickly got out of her car quietly shutting the door.
Caleb kept his gaze away from Briar's as he said in a low voice, "This won't be difficult. This is an above-ground cover for a large, underground criminal hide-out. I stayed in one of the rooms for a year while I started making connections in the blackmarket. The guy who stole her lives here right now." He started walking for the warehouses. "It's going to be jam-packed at this hour, and no-body knows who you are, so stay close to me if you don't wanna be butchered."
she nodded and walked to his side.
Caleb cleared his throat when they got to a warehouse in the very back of the lot. "This may be uncomfortable, but may want to hold my hand. It'll show the others that you're under my, um, "protection"."
she nodded and grabbed his hand.
Caleb led her through the dark mustiness before arriving at a spot. He bent down and opened a trap door. He quickly led her down, the door shutting after them. He reached into his pocket, and pressed something. Lights flickered on, revealing a spiral staircase. He went down it, slowing down for Briar. Her hand felt as nice in his hand as it had 6 years ago. He sighed heavily.
she looked at him and squeezed his hand.
Caleb looked up, eyebrows flashing up in surprise. 'Why'd she do that?'
"sorry" she said looking away embarrased.
