"Hm. Now that's the true question. I'd say you. No one besides you could ever love a crazy person." Martha chuckles and sits back up. "So, you said something earlier about taking me home?"
"Hm. Now that's the true question. I'd say you. No one besides you could ever love a crazy person." Martha chuckles and sits back up. "So, you said something earlier about taking me home?"
He nodded "all in due time, just have to be patient." He scanned the little opening of a peephole for shadows "perfect."He said when he saw one coming "tell them I'm asleep.," he said to her
The guard knocked on the door "Mr. Wayne, you're time is up."
"Thomas? Um, I think he's asleep. Maybe come back later? I guess I tired him…" Martha said, hoping she was convincing enough. She gave Thomas an urgent glance. What is going on? Does he just want to stay longer?
Too afraid to go in without back up, the guard spoke through the hole "check his pulse. If he's asleep, he can stay, if he dies that's his fault."
Martha's eyes find Thomas' and she waits a few seconds in silence before speaking. "He-he has a pulse. I'll tell him you came by when he wakes."
The guard nodded "It'll be a miracle if you don't kill him by tomorrow morning." he muttered, walking away
"He gone?" Thomas asked quietly
"Y-yeah. Why…" Martha's voice trailed off, and her face was concerned. "Why are you staying? They said your time's up."
He shrugged and sat up straight "I'm tired and sick of this world tearing my family apart, any time I get with the only ones I have left, I'll take." He said simply, glancing at her "unless you want me to leave?"
"N-no, I don't want you to leave. I'd never want you to leave. I just…I don't think it's a wise decision to overcome your intended stay. They have time limits for a reason, you know that." Martha met his gaze mostly with concern, but with a small hint of desire, a desire that would probably never be fulfilled, not in Martha's mind.
"and you should know by now my dear, that I love to stretch those limits to the fullest." He watched her, light coming into his eyes "why do you say that? 'they have time limits for a reason' do you change into a vampire or something at 12:00?" He half joked with a boyish grin
"No, of course not. They just don't want deaths of civilians to occur here. Me, they couldn't care less about me. Just…expect another outburst, okay?" Martha sighed, knowing she was probably the only person who could passively make Thomas leave, and her shoulders slumped. "I'm getting tired anyways…"
"I'm staying," he said decisively. He pulled her into him and idly rubbed her arm, his grip loose in case she wanted to pull away
Martha smiled. "You know just what to do at the right time, my love." She rested he head on his shoulder and was close to drifting off to sleep, but she was unsure if Thomas would want her awake, so she kept her constantly closing eyes open.
"Sleep, my love. I'm not going anywhere," he muttered softly. "Not so scary now, aren't you, when you're drifting off." he smiled and kissed her head "I've missed you my dear, more than you know.
To his words, Martha's eyes closed. "I wish we were a family once more…" Her head became heavier as she fell asleep, a peaceful smile resting on her lips.
"so do I love." He kissed her brow. He stood, cradling her in his arm and place her in her bed, laying beside her and holding her close to him,
(Timeskip? Unless you have an idea?)
I HAVE YOUR FAGATRON
(yeah timeskip and….ok then….)
Martha, once awake, turned on her side, not wanting to awaken. She groans, and her right hand attaches itself to her forehead. She was having a major headache.
He groaned and woke up, momentarily forgetting where he was "uhggg too early for this…" He glanced at his wife and smiled "morning, you alright?" He asked, watching with concern
"My head just hurts. It's fine. It's normal. Medications do that sometimes." Martha didn't want to be awake yet, and her grogginess was evident in her voice. "Hey look, I didn't kill you overnight." She offered a weak smile in Thomas' direction.
He smiled at her and pulled her close to him "I knew you wouldn't." he kissed her head "think they'll let me stay longer?"
"I dunno. I know you have a life outside of visiting your crazy wife, so you can leave if you want, or you can stay. I don't know what they'll say. But I'll like it anyway…" Martha sang the last few parts like a song, a bit of insanity returning to her.
He shook his head, burying his nose in her hair "after Bruce, and after you were committed, I had no life worth living. You're the only one keeping me here, from taking my sorry excuse for existing and joining my son." He hadn't told anyone that he had thought about killing himself, he didn't even want to admit it to himself, keep that desire locked away, deep in his heart where not even he could reach it.
"You…you've thought of it, too? Except I could never leave this world under their watch. Don't know why I can't, though." Martha sighed. "But I like it when you're here. You add hope to this little dark hole of mine."
He nodded in agreement "I've thought about moving, once we got you out. But where to, I've no clue. Our whole lives are here, sadly but true." he muttered
"Yes. I doubt you even could get me out, at least, not anytime soon." Martha turned to face him, a somewhat serious look on her face.
He shook his head and smiled "you underestimate me my dear." He said "you're not the only one who's cleared their heads these last few months."
"Oh? Is that so?" Martha grinned, thinking. "Why are we separated when we still get along sometimes?"
