"Nope!" She cracked open an eye and grinned.
"Nope!" She cracked open an eye and grinned.
He smiled back. "Clever."
"I try." She did get up, running her fingers through her messy hair and pulling the braids out.
He turned to the city, just a tiny blip on the horizon. "Should we be heading back?"
"Sure. Just gimme a sec." She yawned and stretched, flopping back down on the ground.
"I can just carry you, you know."
"Let me wake up first."
"Alright, alright." He, however, looked like he hadn't slept at all.
"You have bags under your eyes."
"Yeah," he said, yawning. "I know."
She frowned. "Did you not sleep?"
He shook his head.
She bolted upright. "What? Why!?"
"It's not for lack of trying. It was just and awkward position, and I didn't wanna wake you up."
She scowled. "When I fall asleep, it takes more than just being moved to be woken up. Don't put me before yourself."
"Well, that's what I'm most likenly gonna do," he said with a shrug and a yawn.
She sighed and shook her head. "What am I going to do with you?" The sunlight was already working its magic, replenishing her energy.
"Lemme sleep on your couch…?"
She smiled and shook her head again, amused. "We'd have to go back to Clojiynn then, instead of Isca. I managed to buy my own beach house there."
"Mmmmph." He got to his feet.
A dark creature that seemed to be a cross between a fennec fox and a cat with bat wings appeared on Tessa's shoulders. She smiled at it, scratching its chin. "Hey, Moko. Hows my baby boy doing?" Moko chirruped and dropped a purple gem in Tessa's hand, then disappeared again. "There we go," Tess said, holding up the gem.
"And what is that?"
"Moko or the gem?"
"The gem."
She chucked it and a portal sprung up from where the gem shattered. "A portal gem."
"Ah. To that beach house?"
"MmmmHmm." She grinned at him. "I doubt you want to be bugged by the rest of the Vanguard."
"Are you gonna come, too?"
"Course. But the portal will close when I go through."
He smiled, walking into the portal.
