Okay so I may be totally wrong but I believe stew has other ingredients in it besides just water and beef, like vegetables and potatoes and such. While broth is pretty much just water, beef, and probably salt. Did I get that right, Eris?

Broth: soup consisting of meat or vegetable chunks, and often rice, cooked in stock
Stew: a dish of meat and vegetables cooked slowly in liquid in a closed dish or pan.

Technically Stew isnt really a soup per se… more of a juicy thick dish served with a bread. Broth is considered a soup.
