"Like I said, I felt the spell while wandering around and wanted to know what was up."
"Like I said, I felt the spell while wandering around and wanted to know what was up."
"What does it do?" Athena asked.
A girl sitting in the corner of the shop listened quietly, her grey eyes darting over the papers she was reading and slim fingers holding the smoldering cigarette. Her neon pink hair was half shaven, falling into her petite face. She wore loosely tied ankle-high boots, ripped leggings under a short asymmetrical skirt, a camo short sleeved shirt, and a belt looped around her thin waist.
"Distracts everyone under it. That's why so many people are bumping into each other out there. Everyone's basically stupefied."
Athena leaned over the table and whispered, "I think that girl's listening." She pointed to the girl.
"Huh." Eve watched her suspiciously until Karlan set a plate down in front of her.
"Your usual, Miss Evelyn. A chocolate croissant. and for Miss Athena, some coffee. You sure I can't get you anything, Mr. Runner?"
"I'm paying anyway," Eve said, between bites of her croissant. "I recommend their waffles."
He shook his head, giving the waitress a smile. "I'm sure. But thank you."
"You should've gotten the waffles. I'm hungry."
"Why not order them yourself?"
After finishing her croissant, Eve returned her attention to the girl in the corner. Eve herself worked mostly as a spy, keeping a low profile and watching. This girl was clearly the opposite. There's no way you could hide with hair that pink. Eve couldn't see exactly what she was reading, but she watched her suspiciously nonetheless.
"Because that would be taking advantage of Eve. I already got coffee."
He shrugged. "Sorry, I guess?"
Glove tried not to roll her eyes and stuck her cigarette between her lips, breathing in. Useless. Why did I even bother? She released a stream of smoke from her barely parted lips.
((What can she do?
"I don't mind," Eve said, only half paying attention. "Karlans an old family friend, so she lets me have the family discount."
((Honestly, I still have to figure that out. I'm making her up as I go))
((Evelyn, better known as Eve, is a spy whos looking for her sister's murderer. She's hit a dead end so she agreed to help Athena find her missing friends.
He squinted his eyes at the girl too. "Pink hair," he said in a quiet voice. "She has magic. DOn't know what yet, but it's there."
((Glove can manipulate gravity. She's human. Her hair is dyed))
Eve silently agreed. Perhaps Runner had the ability to sense others magic. If that was so, had he sensed hers?
"Do we go over or wait for her to come me to us? Or pretend we don't see her?"
((Eve can heal, she's an extremely short elf.
"She's human. But her magic…I feel it tugging me towards the ground. Making me heavier. Something with gravity."
Eve, ignoring runner completely, stood up and walked over to the girl, taking a seat at her table.
He covered his face and groaned. And I thought I was impulsive.
"Well then." Athena followed.
Glove didn't even look up, ignoring Eve. She breathed in more smoke, releasing it in Eve's face as she continued reading. The paper was covered in strange runes and symbols.
"It's a fucking trap."
Eve sat quietly, watching the girl for a few seconds before deciding she was too curious to be patient. "So who are you?"
Glove continued reading. "Just a simple tourist looking for some quiet time." Her voice was gravelly and thick with an accent.
