When Tristan has finally finished the jam he put the lid on and found a bit of ribbon to tie around the lid to make it look nicer. Then he carefully put it in his bag with some padding so it didn’t break or spill and ran along the streets looking for the girl. Eventually he spotted her not too far from the cafe, “Hello, Miss!” He said cheerfully, taking the bag off his back
“I wanted to repay you for giving me that bread,” He chirped dogging the jar out of his bag, “So I made you some jam!” He held it out to her.
Mallory looked at the jam for 30 seconds. “O-oh, t-thank you,” She took the jam from him. Mallory has never received anything from anyone so this shocked her. She gave him a small, warm smile. She didn’t smile often so she felt nervous after she did.
“You’re welcome!” He exclaimed, smiling widely, “I, um, I don’t think I caught your name. What is it?”
“My names Mallory.” She said examining the jam. It looked like strawberry jam.
“What’s yours?” She asked meeting his eyes
“Tristan!” He smiled and glanced at the jam, “It’s strawberry jam, by the way.”
“That’s a cute name.” She said austounded that he had guessed what she was thinking.
“Oh thank you,”. He paused, “I like your name too. Where do live?” He pondered, growing curious
“I-I live in a small cottage around the outskirts of town.” She hesitated to say something else but decided to keep her mouth shut.
“What about you? Where do you live?” She asked trying to change the subject to him.
He smiled guiltily, “I live in a tree house on the edge of the gate…”
Mallory's face turned sad. "Well…do you…wanna come stay with me?" she asked. She knew didn't care if her parents disapproved, they owe a favor to the life of a small child anyways. She would make sure they didn't forget that.
“Oh no, my place is fine! I like it there. Nice and quiet.” He smiled
"Then how about you come over to eat, ok?" she asked wanting to pay back the child for bringing her the jam.
“Hm, okay. I do want to go home before it gets dark though, don’t want those raccoons getting into my stuff. I’ll fight them if I have too. I’ve grown used to doing that.” He grinned
Mallory gave a small giggle and lead him to her place. "I should make him some pot roast, that's always good," she thought to herself.
Tristan skipped behind her, at points struggling to keep up because of his short legs
(His lil leggies)
(Awwww his lil leggies) Mallory noticed and slowed down for him. "I'm sorry," she said sheepishly.
“It’s fine!” He replied catching up
(:3)
(:3) When they finally got there Mallory lit up some candles for heat and began cooking.
"Would you like something to drink?" she asked turning towards him.
“Do you have any apple juice?” He asked.
(Niehehehe apple juiceeeee)
(How many apple juices have you stole already this year?)
"I do, I just made some Monday." Mallory went to the fridge and got out a carton of apple juice.
“Yay!” He cheered.
(About a hundred, I’d guess)
(SIGHHHHHHH)
Mallory poured him a glass and went back to cooking. "Do you have any hobbies you enjoy." she tried to make conversation to know more about the little boy.
“I like fighting animals and umm exploring I guess. I don’t do much.”
"Exploring sounds fun though. I have to work a lot so I don't have any time for fun stuff."
“I’m too young to work and I hate school.”
