"After the war," Andra said, "When my husband thought I was dead, I was on the run. Sarge he… he and his men found me then."
"After the war," Andra said, "When my husband thought I was dead, I was on the run. Sarge he… he and his men found me then."
"Why did everyone think you were dead?"
"Because most saw my stabbed, including my husband and he was king so, everyone believed him."
“So you just ran? You didn’t get help, you just made a beeline for the countryside?” Azura was hoping Farron would catch on. “Why’d you do that?”
"It was too dangerous to come back," She lied, though it sounded convincing and honest, "I didn't want to endanger my children or my husband."
“You do realize they were still in danger, right?” She knew there must be another reason. Andras family could have been used as a ransom to get her to come back, or even just been killed in order to steal the throne.
“I know. But the longer I was around, the more people would try and attack the city. If I was away, they’d come after me and try and attack me, not the city. It was likely they would attack the city but they didn’t so it doesn’t matter,”
"Right," Azura said, clearly unconvinced. She glanced over at Farron to see what he was thinking about all this.
Farron seemed to have zoned out just a little. He was frowning, as he had heard some of what was being said and it got him in deep thought.
Az figured she’d change the subject and come back to that later. “How are we going to get into the castle? And what’s gonna happen when we get there?”
"You're the princess," Azura said, "Surely you can just walk through the front gates… how'd you get out? Can't you get in the same way?"
"We snuck out through the back, but whatever way we come in, we're gonna have my parents to deal with. So it doesn't matter all that much, I was just wondering," she answered. "I suppose I'll have to tell them the true reason I left."
"I'm sure they'll understand," Farron spoke up, "Ad if they don't they will."
“I don’t know,” she trailed off. In all honesty, she dreaded seeing her parents again, but she didn’t need the whole world to know that.
“Az, everything will be okay, I promise.” Farron flashed a soft smile.
She didn't return the smile, she only looked away. Then she spoke up again, but her words weren't really directed at anybody. "What do you think they'll say?"
Farron was quiet for a moment, "That they were worried about you but they're glad you're okay."
She laughed a tiny bit. “Ya think?”
"I do. They're your parents and any parent should worry over their kid. I wouldn't be surprised if they chain you down until your coronation." Farron smiled a little.
A laugh escaped Azura’s lips. “They either want complete control of me, or they don’t care. There’s no in between with them.”
"They love you, and they want you safe, I know that," He took Az's hand in his and squeezed, "Everything will be fine."
"I hope so," she squeezed his hand back. Her head hung low, since she was trying not to let either of them see the tear that slid down her cheek.
Farron pulled Azura into his side protectively, kissing the top of her head softly.
Her eyes glistening from tears, she wiped the ones away that were on her cheek and rested her hand on Farron’s back.
He gave her a squeeze, wishing he could do something more to help.
She forced out a smile. "Hey, look over there," she pointed to a large cluster of wild flowers. "Goodness, that's beautiful. I used to sneak out of my room sometimes to pick the ones that were outside the castle."
Farron chuckled, “I remember. I used to follow you out but didn’t want to interrupt so I just watched from a distance.”
“Really?” Her face was rosy again. “I had no idea. You were always welcome, you know.”
He used to pay attention to me?
He shrugged, "I didn't want to intrude or make you uncomfortable with me being there."
“We should go sometime when we get back to Rosgard,” she said. Then she laughed. “If we ever get there.”
