He nodded again, pushing his black hair out of his eyes.
He nodded again, pushing his black hair out of his eyes.
Kai smiled and lifted the small cup to his chapped lips and waited for him to drink
Sean closed his eyes and drank. It looked funny, the way he drank, he drank like a dog, would, using his tongue to pull water in and not really sucking it in like a normal person would.
Kai looked at him weird but didn't say anything. Removing the bowl once he finished, he set it down and looked at him pointedly. "Why aren't you talking? Can you write?"
A stumped look flickered across his face. He decided to nod. He could draw.. maybe that would get his point across.
(May I stalk?)
(May I stalk?)
Go ahead!)
Kai nodded and produced paper and a pencil. Nodding at them, he waited for Sean to take them and explain his story.
He held the pencil in a closed fist. He was more familiar making art with his bare hands, but he did fine with the pencil. He drew himself, drawing the body with surprising accuracy– but left his face blank. He drew a tight scribble over his throat.
"You were choked?!" He asked, surprised at the drawing.
He flipped the paper over, drawing a long drape and feminine shoulders. A blank face like his own. He shaded in her exposed hands and face to a soft grey, and left clouds of scribble around her.
"Is this your mother?" Kai asked
He neither declined nor accepted. Sean traced a thumb across the outline of the woman's face.
"If not your mother then a relative of some sort." Kai said quietly, remembering his own birth mother
He turned the paper back over, he gave the drawing of himself a long, hard look. And he gave it to Kaius.
"What's this? Can you write out?" He asked
He gave him a sheepish look, and shook his head no. Sean didn't know how to read or write.
"What is it?" Kai asked, still confused
Sean breathed in, lifted a hand to gently press against his throat where it hurt. "Mom," he spoke in a muted rasp.
Kai heard his voice and shivered. "Your mom did this to you?" He asked
Tears formed on Sean's eyelids. He gave a stiff nod.
Kai looked at Sean sorrowfully "I'm sorry…why did she hurt you?"
He looked away, and curled into himself. Sean didn't want to answer that.
"Hey it's ok. You can stay out here if you want, I'll bring you a blanket. If you want someplace softer, you can come inside my house and sleep there." Kai said, yawning
Sean looked back over and up at Kaius. A slip of curiosity in his eyes as well. For such an alien thing as Kaius, Sean was now curious as to what his house looked like, compared to Sean's.
Kai saw the curiosity in his eyes and smiled "follow me." Then he frowned "I havent told you my name. Kaius but most people call me Kai." He said, walking to the housr
He lifted a hand to silently ask for help standing up.
Kai came over and helped Sean stand up
His legs wobbled for a moment underneath him. With the bandages wrapped tightly over his middle, though, he found it much easier to maintain his center of balance. He was lucky his legs only suffered scrapes, unlike his arm. As they walked past, X stood up to follow with a wagging tail.
Kai used one hand to support Sean as they walked towards his house
