(May I stalk?)
(Hey, sorry I haven’t responded. I’ve been very busy and a lil stressed so I haven’t really gotten to most of my replies.
And yes you can!)
Vaughn’s head snapped back, blood flying from his mouth as he stumbled backwards and fell down. The man grabbed onto his suit jacket, jerking him to his feet roughly. He was ready, thankfully. His hand shot out, his knife going straight through the man’s throat. He panted when he was finally let go. Too close, you’re rusty. Worse off than last time, the whispers hissed. He shook his aching head and collected the little boy, heading out to the daycare.
Jasper continued to hum, only being interrupted when he yawned. He flopped down into one of the chairs at the front desk and began to book up his laptop and eat his cake, it was a little salty… But with a brother that couldn't bake… It was good.
After 15 minutes, Vaughn arrived. He knocked on the door. It looked closed again. He couldn’t tell if anyone was there. He tugged his suit jacket tighter, buttoning it closed so the blood on his shirt couldn’t be seen. He wiped away as much of the blood on his face that he could, but it was still matted in his hair, which fell across his forehead. He had a nice bruise forming on his cheekbone from where he was punched.
Jasper stood up, stretching. He was a bit annoyed that someone would knock on the door at night, but it can't be helped. He opened the door, expecting some kids to be pulling a prank or something. "Please, go awa… Oh! It's you! I was wondering when you'd be back!" He exclaimed, clapping his hands happily before seeing the little boy. Jasper squatted down, eye level with the boy. "Are you injured?"
Vaughn took a small step back when the male took the boy. He mde sure to step back towards where it was darker to conceal his face partly. As he did so, he had a notcable limp. There was a deep stab would in the back of his right calf that was bleeding. “His names Carson. He’s alright. Parents are dead,” he said. He hated saying that. He needed to save the mothers from their husbands.
"Ah, so just like Maddie. If you want me to have the door open for you when you have to drop someone off, just call the phone. I usually pick up. If, of course, this is going to turn into a regular occurrence." Jasper said, surprisingly calm for someone who is being faced by a man gushing blood.
Vaughn shook his head quickly. “No calls. This can’t be a regular thing. I.. I can’t let any more mothers die,” he said slowly. Why are you still talking? You need to get out of there. He’ll turn you in, the whispers hissed sharply.
"Okay. But if you need somewhere to drop these little kiddos off, whether the mother is unable to take care of them, or their families are dead. My doors will be open. So don't worry about me turning you in." Jasper promised, taking the little boy by the hands and leading him inside.
Vaughn gave a scoff. “Can’t expect me to trust that. You’ll give them what they want when the pull the right strings,” he muttered sharply.
Jasper turned, giving Vaughn a strange look that could even be considered cold. "And what strings will they pull? They won't stop me from helping kids and they don't seem to be stopping you."
“They will find a way, believe me,” Vaughn said. “And they can’t. Not if I don’t stay here. It’s not safe, I need to keep helping people,” he added.
"Understandable, but come over for coffee any time you're not doing whatever it is you do." Jasper requested though it sounded more like a 'If you don't come and answer my questions not even your murdering job is going to stop me from killing you.'
Vaughn scoffed at that. He shook his head slowly, and limped away. He headed across the parking lot, trying to think of which way to take to get to the gas station.
Jasper gave a chuckle and closed the door, leading the boy to the couch. "I'm going to quickly make you some cake okay? It's good, I promise." He told the little boy.
Vaughn eventually arrived at the gas station. He stumbled inside, collapsing against the counter. Pain throbbed in the back of his leg. It hurt terribly from over use, but was feeling slightly numb as well.
Jasper came back a minute later, his phone and a mug cake clutched in his hand. He handed the kiddo the mug as he dialed the police. "Hello, another kid was dropped off at my daycare, no I didn't see the face. Thank you."
(Hey, sorry I haven’t responded. I have been very busy preparing for the ACT so i haven’t been on at all)
Vaughn gave a little curse of pain as he drug himself back to a stand. He went behind the counter and to the back room. He eased onto the cot there, unbuckling and pulling his slacks down and off. He tossed them aside and shrugged off his suit jacket before unbuttoning his white button down. He was left in a white, tshirt undershirt and a pair of boxer breifs as he examined the wound on his leg.
