(When we next skip?)
I leaned forward, pressing out foreheads together. “You make me happy. You understand that, right?”
(When we next skip?)
I leaned forward, pressing out foreheads together. “You make me happy. You understand that, right?”
Sterling’s POV:
“Yeah, seriously. That’s really awesome, you guys. I’m happy for you,” I agreed, smiling at them. “Do you have a date yet? Or a name for the baby?”
Eden’s POV:
“Er, we haven’t decided a name yet,” Lucas said, flustered as he rubbed the back of his head. “But I think the baby’s due either April, or May.”
(All righty.)
Gray’s POV:
I nodded, taking a deep breath.
“I do,” I murmured, trailing her jaw with my finger.
Sterling’s POV:
“And we haven’t decided on a date yet, either,” Ashley said, finally tearing her lovestruck gaze from Lucas. I wondered if Eden and I looked that way when we looked at each other…
Eden’s POV:
Watching them start their own family made me a little envious. I wanted to start one, too. With Sterling. As silly as it sounds, I wanted his last name.
I shook that thought away.
“What are you going to do about college?” I questioned, looking at Ashley.
Sterling’s POV:
Ashley sighed and gave a small shrug. “I’m just going to take the semester off after the baby is born. And then I should be able to bring him or her into my classes with me until they’re able to go to a daycare or something…”
Eden’s POV:
I nodded.
“Makes sense,” I murmured. “If you ever need help, you can ask me.”
Sterling’s POV:
Ashley sighed and nodded slowly, giving her friend a small smile. “I know. Thank you, E. Um… So, what’re you guys doing today?”
Eden’s POV:
I shrugged, setting the box away so I could make myself comfortable on Sterling’s lap.
“Don’t know, really,” I replied, resting my head against his shoulder with a satisfied sigh. “Aside from the baby and engagement and all, how’s life?”
Ashley’s POV:
I shrugged and smiled up at Lucas again. “Life’s good. Classes aren’t too bad, Lucas is the best with helping around… Unless he’s cooking… He burnt eggs one day,” I chuckled softly, remembering the event. “And aside from morning sickness, the pregnancy is going well. We got to hear the baby’s heartbeat the other day when we got the ultrasound pictures… It was so sweet…”
Eden’s POV:
Lucas’s expression turned into deep offense.
“Hey! That was a one time thing!” He pouted, crossing my arms. “And I wanted to make things easier for you. How is it my fault that I can’t cook?”
I burst out laughing. Some things never change, huh?
Ashley’s POV:
I chucked softly at his offense before reaching up to press a lingering kiss to his cheek. “I know, and I’m still glad you tried. But I’m also glad you’ve let me cook or ordered food any other times.”
Eden’s POV:
“Why would you even try to cook, Luke?” I asked, rolling my eyes. “Don’t you remember all those times mom tried to teach you and you almost poisoned us all?”
Lucas scoffed.
“I didn’t poison anyone! It wasn’t my fault I accidentally put in salt instead of sugar in that pudding. They both look the same!”
“They has their labels on them, Luke,” I rolled my eyes again before blinking a few times, trying to clear my vision. “Who even mistakes salt for sugar?”
Ashley’s POV:
“That is pretty impressive, babe,” I laughed, though not unkindly. It was so like him to do that, honestly. He was adorable, but the man couldn’t cook for his life…
(All righty.)
Gray’s POV:
I nodded, taking a deep breath.
“I do,” I murmured, trailing her jaw with my finger.
"Good."
I tilted my head, pressing a kiss to the tip of his finger.
Eden’s POV:
Lucas continued to pout, turning away from the camera. I shook my head lightly.
“Well, it was really nice talking to you,” I said softly. “You should rest. I assume it was a hard day. Take care of yourself.”
Ashley’s POV:
I smiled at Eden and gave her and Sterling a quick nod. “Yeah, you too. Get some rest. Go on a date or something. Have fun,” I said before hanging up and turning to Lucas. “Oh, c’mon, babe. You know I love you.”
Eden’s POV:
I leaned back against Sterling, heaving a sigh.
“They’re having a child,” I said softly, as if I still couldn’t believe it. “And they’re getting married.”
I tried to get it of the envy I felt out of my voice. I hoped Sterling didn’t catch it. I was so madly in love with him, and it was a bit silly and childish, but I couldn’t help myself.
I only wondered if he felt the same way, too, or if it was just one-sided.
Sterling’s POV:
“I know… It’s crazy to think that we were just in high school, and now our best friends are getting married and having a kid… It’s kinda strange,” I mused quietly, wrapping my arms around her waist and hugging her to me tightly.
Honestly, their news made me think. I loved Eden, more than anything. And I definitely wanted to marry her someday, but… Was it too early? We hadn’t even been dating a year, and we’d really just gotten to know each together well since I asked her to go out with me those few months ago… It seemed like we’d known each other for forever, though.
Eden’s POV:
I let out a little laugh.
“Tell me about it…” I murmured. “It feels like just yesterday when he’d come to me crying whenever he needed help, or Lee confiding in me. Now they’re both all grown up and… starting a family.”
I knew I wasn’t ready to start a family yet, and neither was Sterling. It was just wishful thinking, but as much as I loved my last name, I loved Ainsley a little bit more. I wanted it.
Chuckling softly to myself, I let my fingers mess with the buttons on Sterling’s sleeve.
“I think I’m going to cry,” I whispered. “I’m going to be an aunt. Aunts and uncles are important people in the life of a child. I don’t know if I can do that…”
Sterling’s POV:
“Go ahead and cry, then,” I murmured, burying my face in her hair. “I won’t judge…”
I wondered if she would say yes if I asked her to marry me so soon… I didn’t want to distract from Lucas and Ashley’s news yet, but maybe… Maybe after a few months or so…
(Sorry, I went to eat!)
Eden’s POV:
I drew in a deep, shaky breath, shivering a bit when I felt his cool breath on my neck.
“I love you, Sterling,” I murmured, reaching up to take off my glasses. I rubbed my eyes, a dull ache taking root at the back of my head. I yawned, covering my mouth before setting my head back on Sterling’s shoulder.
(Dw about it!)
Sterling’s POV:
“Love you too, babe,” I murmured, pressing a kiss to her cheek. “Are you tired? Maybe you should head to bed…”
Eden’s POV:
“Can I lie here…?” I murmured, not finding it in me to move. I felt too comfortable in this position, safely tucked in his arms.
Sterling’s POV:
“Of course, E,” I said softly, adjusting myself to make ya more comfortable. “Go to sleep…”
Eden’s POV:
I smiled a little before my face cleared and I found myself falling asleep, barely being conscious enough to feel Sterling’s fingers run through my hair, gently lulling me to sleep.
(Skip?
Not it.)
