Hey, guys does this count as "Rape as Redemption"?

I have a female character suffering from BPD and MPD in a post-apocalyptic setting. She basically was a cannibalistic, genocidal maniac. After going up against a "raider group" leader and suffering a defeat, she stumbles off into the forest where she is later raped (though this is not written down). She wakes up traumatized into her second personality, which is far more calmer. Confused, scared, and in pain, she lives her life out peacefully in an attempt not to awake her other personality in fear of hurting others (since she literally killed her brother).

Rape as redemption (Yes that is a troop)

THE FILIOQUE!

Is this the trope where a '''''slutty''''''girl gets raped, and then becomes the pinnacle of virtue? Because I hate that trope.

That's twisted.

Yeah…..thank God people have realized 'hey maybe this isn't a good thing to include in books'

Also, the whole, "light is good and dark is bad" thing. More chaotic good people, please.

I have a feeling you'd absolutely love the "Kingdom Hearts" series of games. Literally, the entire conflict is just "This guy's heart was filled with darkness and he needs light" for 13 games across 17 years.

Also, Mickey Mouse beats up anime guys and one of the reoccurring antagonists is Maleficent

I don't think so. Why is that in there in the first place though? I would advise against. It probably shouldn't be the main conflict if you have other big story feed.

Whadafrick?

The series is a crossover between multiple Disney movies and Final Fantasy. Seriously, watch any cutscene from Kingdom Hearts out of context and you'll have the time of your life.

It isn't. It's her back story. The main conflict is raider and gunner groups closing in on the same territory. The rape isn't the important part, but what she was before it. I included rape to make it more realistic ( at least in my case, with my parents shoving the dangers of life down my throat) and a good way to boost her out of her secondary personality. I looked up the "Rape as Redemption" trope and was scared it fit the criteria. I apologize.

But… I'm pretty sure rape isn't a back burner subject. Granted, I am not familiar with sexual trauma, but I would assume it's a really big deal. So unless it is supposed to be really important, I would say drop it. Because it is an important subject that should be treated with the gravity it deserves. Not as a taste of realism.

Ye, he's one of my favorites.
tries to explain what he's like but only succeeds in waving my arms around vaguely

…That is the most relatable thing I’ve ever read

@soupnana group

I hate it when books aren't original or creative or interesting at all.
Like, you can have a book where things are happening left and right with no breaks, and it can be INCREDIBLY boring. Like, a book where there are no breaks for info, or just a time when the characters can go home take a break. Like, there was this one book I read, where instantly the kid has magical powers, and he keeps seeing crazy things and stuff, and he is constantly being chased, and there are a bunch of confusing things that happen and stuff. I could not stay away while reading that book. I gave up on reading it around the end. Or when an author takes a cool concept and makes it boring. That was the case with this book. It could have been interesting but the way it was written was just… meh. And then there are good books where there are bursts of intensity. For example… In the book I am currently reading, Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson, there are slow parts every so often, but the thing is with the slow parts, they are CHALK FULL OF INFORMATION and they make you reaaaaallly anticipate the next chapter where it returns to a character with really intense stuff going on. Like there is one character who literally SAVED TWO ROYAL AND INCREDIBLY STUPID DUDES, and GOT PUNISHED FOR IT. And then it went to interludes…. INTERLUDES I TELL YOU!!!! AAAAUGH! But then you finish those interludes and you want to continue reading those because they too are interesting. It's like riding a rollercoaster on a foggy day. A VERY FOGGY DAY. And right when you think the twists and turns are settled down, BAM! TRIPLE INVERTED LOOP WITH FLAMES SHOOTING OUT AROUND YOU!!! And right when you see a big drop ahead, the track splits off to the side where you are going at what seems to be a snails pace, but slowly and surely the pace picks up and you are doing corkscrews through the air, flipping over and over, being splashed with water and nearly getting scorched by flames! And then you are back at that drop you so anticipated back a while, and it seems mundane and boring, BUT IT IS STILL INSANE!!!! Aaaaaauuuugh…. it's such a good book… such. a good. book.

@Starfast group

Or when an author takes a cool concept and makes it boring

Oh my god these kinds of stores are the absolute bane of my existence! I mostly buy my books so when I spend money on something that sounds like it's really unique and exciting only to find its just 30 chapters of the main character doing nothing… I feel cheated. Like, I would not have spent my money on that if I knew it was going to be like that.

I was about to go off on several books but I think I'll save that essay length post for another day.

I think at one point in this very thread I said I would stop vaguing ToG, but I guess I lied 🤷
To be fair, there's also several others.

@Story_Siren group

I hate books where the idea is FABULOUS but they don't capitalize on it. Instead, it's all about the MC and their daily adventures or whatever. I don't care about that, show me the cool world you've built AROUND the MC! It's so frustrating. I can't think of any books at the moment that's like this, but it'll come to me. What books have you guys found that are like this?
