He stopped for a moment "I swear to you if you some how manage to shoot me with dull arrows, you won't lose your job and die. They'd have to go through me if they want you."
He stopped for a moment "I swear to you if you some how manage to shoot me with dull arrows, you won't lose your job and die. They'd have to go through me if they want you."
She shot another arrow and raised an eyebrow "I don't believe you," She said.
he shrugged "not many do, so I'm not surprised." he quickly sliced an arrow and looked at her "but I do mean what I say."
"I would say prove it, but I don't want to shoot you," She said as she shot another arrow. She dashed to the other side of him and shot again, concentrating on where her shots were going.
"see now most people would take that sweet opportunity and actually try to kill me." he dodged the arrows "so I thank you again for not being most people."
"You're welcome," She said, smiling softly. She shot two right after another before moving to the right slightly and shooting again.
"clever, clever, girl." He sliced the first two and blocked the other with magic
She shrugged "I've never been called clever," chuckling, she shot again "I like it,"
"what is wrong with people around here? That they don't notice you for who you are?" he shook his head grabbed the arrow in mid air
"People around here aren't usually taking to servants," She shrugged again, the quiver running low on arrows again as she shot the last one.
He looked very confused "why not?" he knew why, but wanted to hear it from someone who personally knew
"Because they are royals, or too good to be talking to lowly servant." She said, shaking her head slightly.
he smiled "careful dear, you're talking to one of those royals right now." he winked
"I know, I know, and that's why I don't want to shoot you." She glanced at him and rested the bow against the floor, not leaning on it.
"that could be a reason, or you just don't have arrows to shoot me with." he glanced at the quiver and refilled it once again "there,"
"Well, that too," Avalin smiled, taking another arrow and picking up the bow again. She shot the arrow and smiled at him, shrugging slightly.
He crouched low and looked behind him seeing that the arrow was stuck in the wall "did I forget to dull those?" he smiled innocently "oh well."
Her eyes widened and she picked up another arrow, looking at the tip. "I'm not going to shoot them," she said, crossing her arms.
he grumbled and snapped his fingers "there. now they're boring." he grabbed the one from the wall and handed it to her "or are they?"
"They better be," she took the arrow from him softly, turning it in her hands to see if it really was dull. She shrugged and notched it in the bow, shooting it at him again.
he ducked as he walked back to the center of the room "at least let me get to the center before shooting at me"
"You were the one that gave me the arrow, I was just giving it back," She said with a shrug, notching another arrow and waiting until he got to the center of the room before shooting at him again.
"remind me to never give you a weapon with my back turned" he caught the arrow and dropped it on the ground
"Copy that," She said, smiling and nodding slightly. She shot a few more at him before stopping, rolling her wrist and shoulders that were sore from shooting for so long.
"break time? thought you'd never get tired." he smiled and grabbed the arrows from the ground "your persistence in trying to shoot me is impressive."
"I suppose," She said, smiling a little as she sat down near the wall. She laid the bow next to her and leaned her head back on the wall, "That was way too much work.."
He shrugged and sat a few feet away from her "that's usually how long I practice for."
"You forget that I don't usually practice with royalty, or practice at all for that matter." She looked over at him and smiled.
He smiled back and inclined his head to look at her better "you did pretty good today despite this being your first time training."
Avalin smiled "Thanks, you did good too," she laid her head back against the wall and looked up at the ceiling, trying not to think about how close she was to the prince.
