Quinn walked next to Scarlet and Harper, looking towards the palace. Her fear built up as they neared it. She bit her lip, knowing that they would have to face Queen Alice again. When Quinn was training as a guard, the Queen would constantly hurt her. Everything that had to do with Alice made her very scared.
Cade sighed as they approached the castle, finally putting his mask on. Well…this is it. Wait until I tell the twins that I went to a ball… He tried to look as normal as possible, holding his chin high to fit in with the other snotty rich people here.
Quinn sighed, slowing down and stepping towards Cade. She slipped her own mask on, her deep blue eyes bright against all the white she was wearing.
"You doing alright so far?" She asked, glancing at him.
He nodded. "Yeah. A little creeped out by Willow, but other than that yeah." Cade paused and looked over at Quinn. "What about you?"
"A few bad memories. . ." She trailed off, trying to smile to cover up her fear. "But, other than that, I'm fine."
Cade nodded again, facing the crowd in front of him. "We better not be out here long. My feet are killing me."
“Out of the things you’re worried about your feet?” Chelsea snorted, still invisible.
Cade jumped, forgetting that Chelsea was invisible.
“Sorry.” Chelsea said, it was hard to tell whether she was being sarcastic or not, “Oooh. That looks good.”
Willow giggled, insanity winning for now. "Feet. The queen ate Major's feet." she twirled, "I saw her. In broad daylight too. Covered in blood. Eating my friend." her dress spun in her motion, "She's crazy. Like me. I'm going crazy. But I'll be dead soon." Willow laughed, "Dead, dead, dead. Dead!"
Scarlet struggled to keep the horror off her face as they approached the palace. “Remember everyone, act snooty.”
Cade grinned. "Easy." He followed the princess through the entrance.
"Not that easy." Willow swayed, "Snoot is hard for someone like me."
"Snooty seems like a usual thing for Cade." She sighed, and followed after him.
Willow laughed and laughed and laughed, "It does seem like him!"
She looked at Willow, trying to hide the worry on her face.
Harper bit her lip, lifting her chin just the slightest bit. She really hoped that the queen wouldn't be able to recognize her. She clasped her fingers together–No. Don't do that. She realize it's you right away. She dropped her hands to her sides.
"Hey, Rabbit!" Willow grabbed Quinn's shoulders and shook her, "Can you feel the bugs? Crawling on your face and mine? I can feel them, but they're not real." she shuddered, "Sometimes they're real."
Cade shivered at Willow's conversation. What is wrong with this girl?
Willow stared at the boy. "Hello Cade."
He jumped, slightly scared of her. "Hello." Cade responded, still looking forward.
"Are you afraid of me?" Willow laughed, "You should be." she jumped and twirled, showing off her white tattoos on her arms. "I'm insane. Going mad. But it's okay, Cade, you see, I'll be dead soon." Willow giggled.
Cade just nodded along, blocking out the conversation. I really don't need this right now. He thought to himself.
"I can't." Willow smiled. "I can't. I use to be able to. I can't."
Chelsea was silently crying, “Okay.”
