(Just remmebered that i should close this, but it wont let me change the name for whatever reason. So that should say closed.)
“Trent. Maddie Trent is her name,” Vaughn answered. He adjusted his suit jacket before stepping out of sight and heading towards the gas station. He walked away from the sirens, eventually picking up a running pace.
"Okay…" Jasper trailed off, motioning for the girl to come inside before he closed the door. "Are you okay hun? Are you cold? I'm going to make you some hot cocoa, would that be okay?" He asked her in a soothing voice, kneeling down so he was at her level.
Maddie was noticably shaking and suddenly burst into tears. “I don’t want him to go!” She cried, ignoring the others words. “He-He helped us. Daddy was going to kill us,” she continued to sob.
Of course, that fit something like what had been on the news many times. “Death tolls rise to 14 as a killer is still on the loose. The unknown killer struck again, fitting their profile of killing men previously convicted of abusing their wives or children,” a woman had said on the news earlier that week.
"Your father was hurting you… And this man helped you? Where's your mother?" He asked, filling away the information for later. "Nevermind, let's go get you some hot chocolate and blankets. We can put some cartoons on too, okay?"
“Mommy is dead too,” Maddie blurted out, her face scrunched up. But she nodded her head at the offer. A few minutes later though, the police showed up.
When the police arrived, Jasper stood up. "I'm going to go talk to someone, okay? I'll be right back." He promised, walking to where the police stood at the door. "She's in the back." He said. "Be careful, it took me a while to get her to calm."
The police officer who was at the door stepped inside. He glanced down at the concrete by the door, which had a bit of blood that had been dripped there. “Sir, did you see the killer?” He asked. “Or anyone who brought her here?”
"I did see a man… About, yay tall." He said, waving his hand above his hand becuase Jasper is short as fuck. "He asked me to wait with her and that the police were coming. The little girl told me that he protected her from her father."
“Must be the suspect,” The officer said to another. “Anything else you can tell us about the man? Was he younger, older? Hair color or skin color?” He asked.
"He looked a bit younger then me, in his twenties. Um… He had a gruff voice, I'm sorry. All I was focused on was Maddie." He exclaimed, giving a weak smile.
The officer nodded with a sigh. “Did you get his name?” The officer asked.
"No, He barely spoke," Jasper admitted. "Well, he did say that Maddie had an aunt… That's all."
The officer nodded. “Well, we’ll need to take the child for any questioning. Her mother and father were dead at her home. It’s that serial killer you must have seen. Stop down at the station if you remember anything.”
"Okay, please be careful…" His speech trailed off as he went to go say goodbye to Maddie. "I'll be here if you need me okay? I live right above this place, on the second floor." He said to her.
Maddie gave a small nod in response, cheeks still tear stained. The officer took her hand and led her out of the building. A few stayed behind to look around in the parking lot or collect samples of the blood on the ground.
Jasper turned off the lights in the back, grabbing his bag and his mug from this morning. He was going to go upstairs and sleep. Oh who was he kidding, he was going to go and search up this killer until the morning. I mean, who needs sleep when you have caffeine?
Vaughn arrived back at the gas station. He pushed open the cracked glass doors. The inside was messy, it being dirty and messy with things tossed onto the floor. He went to the counter and stepped around it, and sat down on the desk chair.
Shall we do a time skip, or do you have something planned?//
(Yeah, it’d be best to skip)
(The next afternoon, maybe?)
Sure, should your character come to the daycare?//
(Why should we say that hes there?)
Hm… Maybe it's just a routine after a bit for him to drop off any kids he finds at the day care?///
(Yeah, we could do that. But it might have to be a few days later, though. It’d take him a few days to actually find a family to help and get close to the mother/child)
Sounds good! I'm sorry if my responses are slow, I'm just working on some homework.//
(Its fine, ive been busy. And alright, ill do a starter tomorrow, its late)
It had been around a week. It was happening again. He met up with the mother and her two young children. Got the information on the abusive ex husband. A day or two later, he was at the house, getting stuck across the face by a man twice his sze.
Jasper hummed as he made some mug cake in the daycare microwave. He had to open up the daycare early so he was just going to sleep there tonight, he had his laptop so he would be fine. He was snapped out of his trance by the dinging of the microwave. "Hahah! It's done!" Jasper cheered to himself, opening the microwave and pulling out the small cake. I can do some research and eat my cake! Perfect night!
