“Oh… I wouldn’t know. She’s never been around them before. I got her as a kitten a couple of years ago,” Kasey explained, rubbing the cat’s nose and earning a purr from it. “Why do you ask?”

"It'd be cool to get a puppy someday, if you'd like to. It's something I've always wanted," Barry admitted, slightly abashed. "My last dog died when I was ten."

(So I think I have the names for my characters for the competition thing!)

Kasey smiled softly and kissed his cheek. “A puppy would be amazing. I don’t think it would necessarily be good to have one in an apartment, though… It might be a little cramped,” she said, not unkindly.

(That's awesome! What are they?)

"Yeah, I get that." He nodded, giving a little shrug. "That's why I said 'someday'. In the….. in our future."

(I did send them on Discord. Lol. But it’s Blake Bentley for the guy, and Addison Fuller for the girl.)

“Yeah. Our future,” Kasey repeated quietly, grinning up at him. The prospect of them having a future together was so exciting; she couldn’t even think of what her life would be like without him, at this point.

"Ours…" he repeated in a hushed whisper. "I like that word…. I really, really like that word."

“Me too… It’s a great word,” Kasey agreed softly, leaning forward to gently press their lips together. She smiled and moved Ginger out from between them, and the cat just curled up at their feet instead. “Ours…”

Barry's lips curved up against hers as their lips met. His hand moved towards hers, pulling lightly on her wrist until her palm had settled above his heart. "Feel that?" he whispered, "It's beating for you. You and only you."

(Don't worry about it! I'm just bored. Lol. I'll live.)

Kasey rubbed her thumb against his chest, smiling softly down at it before she looked back up into his eyes. "I love you… So, so much…"

"My three favourite words…." he said, voice soft and saturated with affection. "I love you too…."

Kasey's smile grew slightly as she looked into his gorgeous blue eyes. It was like she was looking into the sky, free of clouds or storms. They just might be her favorite feature about him… She could get lost in them any day, any time.

(woo-hoo, I'm writing his tattoos for the first time in, like, 100 pages….)

The heart tattoo on the corner of Barry's jaw flushed pink as they locked eyes. He reached up, moving as if through a drew, to cup her cheek with one hand.

(Lol. I completely forgot that they had tattoos… Whelp…)

"Have I ever told you how much I love your eyes?" Kasey wondered dreamily as her own searched his. The peacock on her arm raised its head slightly and fluttered its wings before calming down again. It seemed to be reacting to her high emotions, though she didn't quite understand how…

“You have..” he murmured, volume dipping, “But I don’t think I’ve told you how much I love yours..”

Kasey smiled a little, her cheeks gaining a hint of red at his words. “Thanks… I think yours are better, though.”

“Not possible.” Barry bumped their noses, scrunching his up adorably.

“It’s true,” Kasey agrued with a slight giggle, retuning the bump against his nose.

“Nope. Nothing about me could ever surpass you.” He spoke jokingly, tone light, but his words carried a sincerity; he really did believe what he was saying.

Kasey shook her head a little and lightly brushed their lips together. “I disagree. I think you’re better and always will think so.”

“I’ll find a way to convince you..” he murmured, inhaling softly.

“Mm… If you’re sure,” Kasey chuckled softly before pulling away with a small sigh. “All right. I think I should actually go shower now. I’m sure Ginger would love to keep you company while I’m gone.”

"Fine…." he relented, twisting his lips into a mock pout.

Kasey stepped out of the bathroom, a towel wrapped around her hair. Her shirt stuck to her, and she was glad it was darker than anything else she wore. Thankfully, it didn’t show anything, or else she would be very flustered.

“Okay, did you want to shower, now?” she asked Barry with a small smile as she shook her hair out and grabbed her hairbrush.

Barry, who had fallen back into a deep sleep, let it a tiny snore, his mouth parted, hair messy against the pillow.

Kasey chuckled softly and walked over to the bed. She sat down beside him and pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead. “Have a good sleep, love. I’ll be here when you wake up.”

Barry’s eyes fluttered open at the touch, his hair flopping back to reveal a tiny moon tattoo, which was glowing softly.
“Kase?”

Kasey smiled a little and pulled back. “Morning, sunshine,” she chuckled softly. “How was your nap?”

“My… did I..? Oh.. I didn’t mean to fall asleep…” he murmured, rubbing his eyes.
