(You're welcome!!! :D)
(You're welcome!!! :D)
(you’re so welcome. Lol. I’m glad you’re so excited!)
Devon blushed a little and turned away to hide the tears pricking her eyes. That would be a first… And a very welcome one at that…
“Thank you, Sebastian. You don’t know how much that means to me,” she whispered.
(I'm glad you love the surprise~!)
(akskj)
“It’s no problem,” he replied, just as softly. “You don’t need to thank me for things I need to do anyways.”
Devon glanced back up at him with a watery smile, taking his hand back in her own and squeezing it. “You really are amazing, Sebastian.”
(Do you wanna do the angst now? Or later?)
(Now)
Sebastian’s heart squeezed at her words— he’d done nothing but offer some basic human decency. He couldn’t only imagine what she’d been through…
Squeezing her hand back, he gave her a warm smile. “No, that’s all you.”
“I’m hardly amazing,” Devon said with a quiet chuckle. “But thank you anyway.”
(Would you mind doing the honors? I can try if you’d rather not.)
(I don't mind at all, tell me if I'm doing this wrong :P)
You're definitely amazing. Sebastian began to say so, but was cut off by a rather loud whistle behind him. He stiffened, taking in the situation immediately as obscene words began to follow. "Alright, let's go," he murmured to Devon, casting the catcaller a harsh glare over his shoulder as he directed her in the opposite direction.
Devon froze as soon as she heard the whistle. Her heart started racing as memories flashed through her mind. She clasped her hands together, holding them tightly, and let Sebastian lead her away.
“I thought I was over this. I thought it was gone,” she murmured to herself under her breath. She repeated the words a few more times as they walked, her hands moving to grip her upper arms in a hug-like hold.
"You're going to be okay," he kept whispering to her as the shouts continued to follow them, his heart breaking for this poor woman and what she must have been through. The man behind them, not drunk in the slightest, called out saying what exactly he'd like to do to her, muffled laughter following. Sebastian practically saw red, barely refraining from whipping around and punching him in the face.
(ooh, should he? or would that just distress her further?)
(Erm… Maybe he could do it once he know she’s safe? I have an idea for what she would do after she’d calmed down.)
A tiny whimper escaped her lips, and she curled into herself further. Why couldn’t they just leave her alone? Why did this always have to happen to her?
“Just stop. Just stop, just stop, just stop,” she murmured with another whimper.
(alright, but he doesn't have to do it at all, it was just an idea I was throwing out there)
(tell me when to stop the catcalling)
Sebastian wanted nothing more than to wrap his arms around Devon and protect her from the awful words of this sorry excuse for a human being, but he was too afraid of hurting her. "We're almost there (where are they going? to her car? to the subway?), you're safe, I won't let him do anything to you," he murmured again and again. "Can I– Do you want space? Or do you want me to physically comfort you?" Behind them, the catcalling only got worse, more descriptive.
(No, I like it! Just as long as she’s safe and out of sight.
Maybe it continues until they get to her car, and then Sebastian goes to stop it?)
Devon tried to calm her breathing, squeezing her eyes shut and then opening them a few times. “Don’t— Don’t leave me, but… I don’t, um… I’m not sure if I could handle any physical contact right now,” she whispered, though she wished she could say otherwise.
(alright, sounds like a plan)
"That's completely understandable," he soothed, though his heart was thundering, pumping the need to punch the living daylights out of the catcaller through his whole body. "Here we are…" They'd arrived at her car. Sebastian stood behind her, watching her back while he waited for her to get out her keys.
Devon fumbled with the small purse she carried as she tried to get her keys out. She finally did and quickly opened the door of her car.
“Thank you, Sebastian,” she breathed, looking up at him before sliding into her seat.
(I gotta go now, sorry, see you in a few hours!)
"No problem," he told her, before shutting the car door and turning to face the catcaller. "You got a problem?" he asked loudly, striding directly up to the guy, who was unfortunately taller than him. The guy sneered. "Haha, hilarious. Allow me to get to the–" Sebastian didn't let him finish, interrupting by driving his fist directly into the catcaller's face.
(Aw, Okay. Bye! Have fun!)
Devon buried her face in her hands as she attempted to get her breathing under control. Her heart still pounded in her throat, making her feel like she couldn’t breath. Placing a hand on her throat, she could feel her heart racing. She had to get her heart rate back down or she could start hyperventilating and pass out.
Just breath… Take deep breaths… In and out…
(I'm back very briefly because we're stuck in traffic ):
The guy let out an enraged cry and shoved his fist into Sebastian's stomach, but Sebastian dodged the next few punches easily, coming out as the more experienced brawler. He caught hold of the other man's wrists and twisted him around, pushing him into the pavement and stepping away. He returned to Devon, shutting the car door just as the catcaller rose again.
(Oh, oof. Gotta love traffic. Lol.)
Devon pulled her hand away from her face and looked over at Sebastian. By now, her breathing had finally evened out, and her heart rate was at a more normal speed.
“You— You didn’t have to do that, Seb,” she said softly, rubbing at her upper arms.
(lol)
"I did," he replied, giving her an anxious once-over. "Are you aright? Are you hurt??" Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of th eman stumbling towards them. "He's getting up– can you drive?"
Devon looked in the direction Sebastian had come from and saw that the man was, indeed, getting up. She sighed and let out a soft curse under her breath as she tried to get the key into the ignition. Once she finally had, she turned it, starting the car, and quickly backed out.
"I'm fine, Seb. I didn't get hurt," she assures him softly, casting a quick glance in his direction. "What about you? Are you okay?"
Sebastian breathed a sigh of relief as they pulled out, leaving the man behind. "I'm fine. It's you I'm more worried about. I'm really sorry you had to experience that– again."
"It's not the first time it's happened… Obviously…" Devon murmured under her breath, chewing on her lip as she looked out over the road. "Should we go back to my place or did you have somewhere you need to be?"
"I don't have anywhere to be, unless you need space or want me to leave you alone for the night," he replied, rubbing at the spot on his ribcage where he'd been hit.
Devon shook her head slowly. "No. I… don't want to be alone right now," she admitted softly. Another quick glance at Sebastian showed him rubbing his chest. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"Then I'll stay for as long as you need me. And yeah, it's fine, definitely not as bad as it could have been." He met her eyes, still searching for signs of anxiety.
(;-;)
Devon's eyes were a little wider than normal, and her pupils were dilated abnormally, but she looked fine otherwise. Thoughts just sort of ran through her head like they had nothing better to do, so it was hard for her to calm down entirely.
"Okay. Thank you," Devon said, giving him a small smile before turning back to the road.
They arrived at Devon's place before long. Sebastian came around the front of the car, falling into step with her as they walked into the elevator. When they were finally in her apartment, he felt like he could breathe, calm himself, focus on what he could do for her.
Devon closed her eyes for a moment once they were finally inside her apartment. She just needed some time to get over her thoughts… And maybe something to drink…
"Are you thirsty? Could I get you something to drink?" she offered, opening her eyes and turning to look at Sebastian.
