(One day, Devon will let him kiss more than just her hand, too!)

Devon smiled up at him as she gave another strawberry to Layla, who took it eagerly. “Sure… Yeah, I’d like that if you’re willing.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(;P Good… afternoon, I guess. Lol. How're you?)

Devon chuckled a bit and finished up her fruit as well. "Would you mind if I let Layla sit down in here and finish this? You don't have any chemicals or sharp objects in the cupboards down below, do you?"

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(I'm good. Working on a paper for English. Well… procrastinating on a paper. Lol.)

"Great. Thanks," Devon said with a grin. She walked over to the middle of the floor and set a bowl of fruit down for her daughter. "You can just set her in front of it if you want."

Sebastian did as he was instructed, doing a quick sweep of the area to ensure that there was nothing dangerous within the little girl’s reach. “Alright.” He gestured towards a narrow hallway. “You’ve seen the living room and kitchen. The rest is pretty much all down this way.”

@blue_topaz

“That’s the bathroom.” Sebastian pushed a door open with the pads of his fingers, revealing small but clean room. “Hot water’s faulty. And that’s a storage closet. And here…” At the end of the narrow passage was a door, painted a light shade of grey. “Is my room.” After a brief pause where he grappled with indecision, Sebastian turned the doorknob.

On the other side was a room with cracked grey paint on its ceiling. The walls were white, the floorboards wooden and creaky, but all in all, there was barely enough space for a bed and a small recliner. On a chair that was thrown in one corner sat a guitar case. Beneath the chair, in a lid-less box, were sheets of messily written out music notes.

The walls were bare except for a single photograph near to the bed, one that Sebastian was careful not to draw attention to as he walked inside and opened his arms in a vague ‘well, there you are’ sort of gesture. “That’s about it.”

Devon took in both rooms with a careful eye. It was a rather small place, but it was nice. And hardly bigger than her own, anyway. She might have an extra room and nicer furnishings, but they were roughly the same size otherwise.

“It’s nice. Cozy,” she said softly as she turned back to Sebastian with a small smile.

@blue_topaz

Cozy? Sebastian felt as if he could barely breathe in his home, and not because of the size. “Oh. Thank you. Maybe one day, I’ll buy a desk. So I can write. Not sure where I’d put it, though..”

@blue_topaz

"Oh." Sebastian shifted awkwardly, rugged anxiously at the sleeve of his shirt. "Yeah. I can do that" He retrieved the instrument and sat on the bed, carefully extracting it from it's case and running his fingers over its smooth outline. "What do you want me to play? Something from the radio? Or- Or something I wrote?"

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“Well… That depends on what you’re comfortable with playing. I would definitely like to hear something you wrote, but I wouldn’t mind hearing a song from the radio,” Devon said softly, giving a loose shrug as she leaned against the wall.

@blue_topaz

Sebastian fixed his eyes to his guitar, his most prized possession, for a few moments. Then, he stood and crossed the room to the chair in the corner, removed the box from underneath, and pulled out a few sheets of paper. “I can- is this one okay?” He held it up. “Still a work in progress. I’ve never shown it to anyone.”

@blue_topaz

He bit his lip, eyes flickering away as he sat on the bed. A tight knot of nerves had formed in his core– what if she didn't like it? What if it was weird? What if she felt like she had to pretend? But he pushed his thoughts away and picked up his guitar, spending a few minutes on tuning before beginning a soft, almost nostalgic instrumental introduction.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Devon listened intently. She had always loved it when people played live music, and acoustic was even better.

Sebastian's playing was beautiful, she thought. She loved the way he seemed to connect with his instrument and know which strings to pluck and when, making the perfect sound at the perfect time.

@blue_topaz

Sebastian closed his eyes, let his fingers drift over the strings as the familiar melody washed over him. He knew this. This was familiar territory.

His lips parted to let through a line of song, wistful and a little sad.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Devon watched him as he sang, her gaze thoughtful. He had an amazing voice, which she ready knew from his little serenade to Layla. What she hadn't been able to tell before, though, was just how good of a voice he had….

(Our other o/o?)

@blue_topaz

(I know, I know, I’m trying to update the rps at the top of my unread while looking at the 16 other ones I’ve neglected since before dance I’m sorry I’m getting to it)

It was the first time he’d sung to only one person in a long time, and he’d missed the intimacy. He just let his voice flow through him, his fingers dance over strings, and when he was done, his cheeks were pink.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(Oh, oof. Lol. That's okay, sorry. I was just making sure. :)

Devon grinned at him gently and gave a soft round of applause for him. "That was amazing, Sebastian. You did very well. I really liked it."

@blue_topaz

(Dw about it)

Sebastian’s blush only deepened at her words as his mind came back into focus. He realized then how hard his heart was beating, how out of breath he was, and the fact that he’d actually sounded… well, good. “Thank you.. Thanks. So you liked it?”

@blue_topaz

Sebastian’s grin was the dorkiest, shyest thing he had ever accomplished. He began to pack his instrument away, a bubbly warm feeling spreading in his chest. “You’re very welcome.”

@blue_topaz

“Maybe. If I can get the bar to take me.” Sebastian shrugged loosely, though the bubbly feeling did not wear off. “Anyways, we should probably get back to Layla.”
