Rose had begun to feel uncomfortable when Noah held on a bit too long. He rested his hand back onto his lap afterwards. “Well, um, I study at the college nearby. I’m an English major. I’m not from around here, I grew up in the North West, I think..” he said slowly. “And you?”
“I’ve lived here my whole life,” Noah said, leaning back in his chair. “And I go to the college nearby too, studying to become a History major.” He itched to go outside and smoke, but he knew that would give him a worse reputation then he already has.
Rose nodded his head slowly in response. He took another long drink of his coffee before licking his lips afterwards. He felt awkward, uncomfortable by the approach.
God damn it, I made things awkward. Noah tapped his fingers on the table in random rhythm, trying to drown out the uncomfortable silence. His eyes flickered to Rose and saw him lick his lips. His ears started to burn, and he quickly looked away. I really need a smoke.
Rose decided it was beet not to talk. He didn’t want to give Noah any ideas, if he were the kind the kind to want to take advantage of him.
"So…" Noah's voice trailed off, unsure of what to say. Rose wasn't making it easy trying to converse with him.
Rose bit his bottom lip at the sound of Noah’s voice. “Why do you try to talk to me?” He asked quickly, wanting to get it out of the way. “If you want sex, it- it itsn’t happening.”
Noah blanched. Is that really what he thought of him. He wasn't that low. "No, I don't want sex! I just want to talk!"
Rose had grimaced at the small outburst. “Sorry, sorry, that’s usually always it. Sorry,” he apologized quickly.
Noah quirked an eyebrow. So, Rose here is one of the most sought out bachelors. Interesting. "It's- It's fine," he said. "I get how you would get that." He looked intimidating, as he was told by a number of people.
Rose gave a small nod of his head at that. He took another sip of his coffee, brushing his hair back a bit again.
Noah watched him brush his hair back, and suddenly remembered he had hair clips in his bag. "Do you-Do you need something to hold your hair back?" he asked.
Rose looked up at Noah, brows raised. “Oh, um, no thank you, I’ll be fine..” he responded softly.
“Okay,” he said, looking away. Good job, now he thinks you’re some weirdo. He began to tap the table again, a nervous habit of his.
Rose shifted in his seat a bit, crossing hus legs loosely. “Why did you want to talk to me?” He asked softly.
Noah shrugged. "You looked approachable and friendly. I need friends. Simple math." he said, taking a long sip from his coffee.
Friends. Rose nodded his head slowly. “We can be friends,” he responded softly.
Noah almost spit out his coffee. “Really?-I mean yeah, uh, that’s great.” He half smiled awkwardly. Well, you messed up that one.
Rose gave a small, timid smile. “Great,” he agreed softly.
God, that smile. Noah blinked, bringing himself out of the little haze. “So, what do friends usually do?” he said, taking another sip of coffee. He probably sounded like an idiot; asking what friends do. What person doesn’t know how to make friends?
Rose wasn’t too sure. He didn’t have many friends growing up. “I think they go out and do things together..” he said slowly and unsurely.
Noah nodded. "Sounds legit. Wanna go out and do things together?" He hoped that it sounded like he knew what he was talking about.
Rose gave a small nod. “Yeah, that would be nice,” he said with a slightly wider smile.
Noah stood up with a smile of his own. "Want to go walk around?" he asked, coffee cup now empty.
Rose watched Noah stand, seeming a bit hesitant at first. “Sure..” he said softly after a moment and stood up as well, stepping aside to throw his own empty cup away.
Noah threw away his cup, and then held the door open for Rose. "After you," he said softly with a half smile.
Rose looked up at Noah and gave a small smile at the gesture. “Thank you..” he mumbled shyly and stepped out.
"You're welcome," Noah said almost as quietly. Following Rose out of the door, he stuffed his hands into his pockets and started to walk down the sidewalk, glancing back to see if the other man was following him.
Rose walked next to Noah, keeping the pace with him. “So, where are we going?” He asked.
Noah glanced at Rose. "Anywhere you want to, but I was planning to go to the park," he replied.
