"Why?" John asked with a smile. "Don't worry for me, Jane. It'll put on you undue stress," he spoke, letting her slip the heavy red coat off his shoulders.
"Why?" John asked with a smile. "Don't worry for me, Jane. It'll put on you undue stress," he spoke, letting her slip the heavy red coat off his shoulders.
She hung it in the hall and went back to stand in front of him. "If all of the worryings kept you safe, I don't mind it so much," she told him quietly.
André smiled softer, and stepped forward to embrace her again. "I missed you so… so much." He sighed, buried his face in her shoulder.
She kissed his ear and melted against him. "I told you I missed you more," she whispered.
"I don't mean to disrupt our reunion, love, but.." He spoke quietly, "I'm absolutely famished,"
"Right!" she cried, pulling away from the hug but staying close. "What would you like? Your wish is my command, my sir."
"If there is any meat. Anything but bread and fruit," he laughed quietly.
Jane smiled broadly. "I have just the thing!" she declared.
He laughed softly. "I'm going to change into something dry and warm," John informed, and head off towards the grandiose stairs.
Jane beamed and hurried towards the kitchen.
(timeskip a little?)
Sure!)
Jane carried a tray of meat stew and beer into the sitting room. "I pray this will satisfy your appetite," she said softly, placing the tray on the table in front of him.
"Thank you so much, love. Come, sit," he insisted, feeling a little out of place having her care for him so much. He was used to making his own dinners.
She joined him, standing behind his chair and massaging his shoulders therapeutically.
"No, no, no, sit," he pleaded, though her massaging made his neck give out, made him laugh. "Sit next to me,"
"Doesn't it feel good?" she cooed. "You deserve it, my sir. Tonight, I am your humble servant."
"I can't eat like this…" he confessed with affectionate humor, peering up at her.
"Why?" she asked, looking over him playfully.
"Mm, well you're massaging me. My neck is too relaxed to hold my head up," he replied, "If I try to eat with my head back I'll make a mess," John was smirking now.
Jane blushed a pale rouge. "My apologies, my sir," she murmured, coming around to sit beside him.
He lifted his head, and kissed her temple once she sat. "You know, I like it better when you call me John,"
"Why didn't you say so?" she murmured.
"I don't know," he smiled a little, "I didn't want to upset you,"
Hesitation flickered beneath his expression, before he shook his head.
Edonine looked down and sideways. "Anything I can do..?"
He shook his head a second time. “I am fine now that you are better. As much as I’d like to stay here, we’ve got to go check on Geoffrey. Then I’ll send word to the General.”
She nodded, pushed hair from her eyes. Edonine slid off the bed to go check on their fellow solder, whom was laid on the couch in the living room.
Pierre followed, the weight of he world once again on his shoulders. Cruz, Edonine, Geoffrey…. What was he going to do?
She knelt down on her knees, "Geoffrey,"
The man stirred a little. When he opened his eyes, the tension from Edonine melted away. Good.. He'd survived the night.
"I don't know," he smiled a little, "I didn't want to upset you,"
"I wish you'd told me sooner," she replied. "Are you enjoying the stew?"
He took another bite, "Very much so. It's perfect," he complimented Jane.
She blushed. "Thank you, John."
