The older kids glared back, "freak" one of them said as they left, Rykah folded his wings and turned to the other kid, "Did they hurt you?" he asked

“Nah. I’m alright.” Will said. The only thing hurt was his pride. “Thanks, though.” Will wanted nothing more than to run away and hide.

"It was nothing," said Rykah, "people tend to stay away from me anyway.." he said as he wandered off

“Well, thanks.” Will followed the boy. “I’m Will by the way.”

"Rykah" He replied, "Though it's none of your buisness."

Will was slightly hurt. What did he do? But he just kept talking, trying to be as nice as possible. “So, what grade are you in?”

"9, what's it to you?" he asked, turning around suddenly, his violet and silver eyes studying the other kid.

“I wanted to know if we were together! And we are. What class do you have first?” Will said, endlessly full of exciting questions.

"Duel training" he responded, his fluffy red and purple tail twitched, causing the silver highlights to flash in the sunlight.

“Cool! I have Spell Casting first. When’s your lunch period?” Will told Rykah, hoping that at least they would get lunch together.

"12:30" said Rykah blowing a lock of his fire red and purple hair, also highlighted with silver.(wings are the same scheme btw)

“Me too!” Will said excitedly, grinning.

great… this kid's probably gonna follow me like a lost puppy "So? why does it matter?" said Rykah, "You won't make any friends hanging around a freak like me.."

“I don’t need all that many friends!” Will said cheerfully, not picking up on Rykah’s annoyance with him.

"Uh-huh" said Rykah grumpily, then they came up to a gate, where they could both sense some major magic vibes, "This is where my class is and you'd better get to yours" he said stepping inside.

“I’ll see you at lunch, OK?” Will called, looking around for Spell-Casting. He prayed he would be able to keep his new friend, although he wasn’t sure who he was praying to.

Rykah frowned, then jogged out towards a set of benches. I don't know why I saved that kid, And I'm kinda hoping he forgets about me he thought to himself as he signed into class, but he also knew deep down that he really did want a freind, even tho he'd never admit it.

Will arrived at lunch and immediately looked around for Rykah. He either wasn’t there yet, or Will wasn’t very observant. He stood in the doorway for a minute, looking around.

Rykah wandered into the cafeteria he stood there for about 2 seconds before heading towards an empty table, ignoring the assorted stares, whispers, and catcalls.

Will finally caught sight of Rykah, sitting by himself at an empty table. He moved his way through the tables, finally sitting across from Rykah. “Hey!”

Rykah looked up to see the kid from earlier, "What do you want" he said his ears flattening.
