Sure, np! What time of day?)
(Mid to late afternoon?)
(Kk)
Sebastian pulled his scarf tighter around his neck as he walked down the crowded street, anxiously checking his pocket for the fiftieth time. His wallet was still safely there— but losing it now would be disastrous. How else was he going to pay for Devon’s Christmas gift?
(Thanks for starting! My stepdad might have forgotten to shut the wifi off. Lol. Either that, or he will soon.
Also… Aw!!! Devon would totally tell him that he didn't need to buy her a gift.)
Devon shivered as she walked past the stores she never went in. The cold winter air nipped at her exposed skin, turning her nose and cheeks a rosy red. She shifted the bags she was carrying so that she could hold them better, trying not to drop them in the process.
Unfortunately, she did. And it spilled half of its contents across the icy, snowy ground.
"Oh, come on… Really?" Devon sighed as she bent down to pick them up.
(Lol
Awe)
Sebastian’s attention was drawn to the sidewalk ahead by a loud noise— there was a woman with a plethora of shopping items spilled out in the ground in front of her. He hurried up to her side, only to realize that it was Devon. “Devon, hey! Let me help you with that.”
(It’s bad sorry.. writing skill has deserted me for now)
(Lol. It's fine, dw about it.)
Devon glanced up at the sudden sound of footsteps crunching nearer in the snow and the voice that greeted her. She gave Sebastian a small smile as she continued to pick things up.
"Help would be great, thank you," she said. "I have no idea how I managed to drop this…"
He let out a chuckle, organizing her things into a neat pile and handing them to her. “Here you go.”
(Dude… Is Notebook updated for you, too?)
“Thanks,” Devon said, chuckling a bit as she took the pile and put it back in the bag. “What are you doing today?”
(Yeah, and damn)
“Christmas shopping.” Though jt was true, he couldn’t help but since at his implausible it sounded— Devon knew he didn’t have friends, and that he wasn’t on good terms with his family.
(It’s totally weird. Like, woah.)
Devon blinked and nodded slowly. “Oh. I am too, actually. Is it going well?” she asked as she stood.
(It’s really cool, but it’s gonna take some time getting used to)
Sebastian gave a loose shrug, a wry smile twisting his lips. “I was just about to start, so I don’t know. You?”
(Yeah, definitely.)
“Oh, it’s going pretty well. I’m actually almost finished. There are just a few things left that I need,” Devon said with a small smile.
"Cool." Sebastian manoeuvred out of the way of a few passer-by, the faintest of blushes dusting his cheeks. "Mind if I tag along?"
Devon blinked in surprise. “Oh. No, not at all. Did you have anywhere you wanted to go?”
Sebastian suddenly realized the huge flaw in his plan. If he followed Devon, she would see what he was getting her– even if she didn't yet know that it was for her. "Um- I was going to– You know what, let's go to all your stores first. It's fine."
“Okay, sure. I was going to go to the jewelry store to get something for my mom first. Are you okay with that?” Devon asked as she started toward the store.
"Sounds great." Sebastian grinned, quickly catching up. "How are you?"
“Cold, tired… But pretty good, otherwise,” Devon chuckled, smiling over at him. “What about you?”
"Aw." Sebastian paused, tilting his head. "I'm good, I think. How's Layla?"
“You just think?” Devon teased with a slight laugh. “Stubborn as ever. She keeps asking about ‘Bahstin’, wanting another ride.”
"Awww," he chuckled, dragging a hand through his messy hair. "It sure feels good to be wanted."
Devon chuckled a bit and stopped in front of the store. “Yeah. She totally misses you… You know… I was going to invite my parents over tonight, but they’re busy. And I have a whole pot roast in the crockpot that I won’t be able to eat by myself. Would you want to come over?”
Sebastian stumbled, almost crashing straight into an elderly woman hobbling her way down the sidewalk. He stammered out an apology, cheeks flushed pink by the time he turned back to Devon. "You– Yeah, sure," he managed, mentally chastising himself. "Sounds– sounds good."
“Cool… That’s— Yeah, cool,” Devon said with a small smile, her cheeks tinted red at her own offer and his acceptance of it. She opened the door and started to step inside before turning back to Sebastian. “Would six be okay?”
"Six sounds great," he affirmed, swallowing as his eyes flickered away. Over the course of the past few months, their bond had strengthened, and he'd soon found his thoughts completely consumed by her. She was the first thing he thought of in the morning and the last thing he thought of at night– which was dangerous. It didn't help that she had begun to open up to him just a little bit, or that she'd shown the utmost sympathy when he'd done the same. (is this okay?)
(Yaaaasssss!!! Definitely okay!)
“Cool,” Devon quietly said again, feeling like she sounded like a broken record as she finally stepped into the jewelry store.
:D
Sebastian slipped in after, shutting his eyes for a moment to get a grip of his emotions. No, he snapped at himself, You are not going to daydream. You are not going to hope for anything. You are not going to hurt her in the process of chasing some stupid crush.
(I kinda want Devon to have another breakdown and Seb to actually hug her this time… Hm…)
Devon let her gaze trail the necklaces and bracelets. They were all so expensive. Beautiful, but expensive…
Her eyes caught a necklace to the far left of the case, and she walked over to it. It was so simple, yet incredibly elegant. Just a silver chain with a small heart-outline pendant that read “Mom” in tiny red gemstones on one side. She sighed as she looked at the price. It was just barely out of her range… Why did it have to be so close, yet so far?
(ooh yes
how would she react?)
Sebastian came up behind her, promptly ignoring the uneven way his heart seemed to patter whenever she was near. "I can– I can help you pay for that, if you need," he offered, though he knew that his bank account would definitely suffer a blow as the cause of it.
(She might try to push away from him, but if he held her tightly and murmured soothingly to her, then she’d eventually calm down. It would be so cute, oh my gosh…)
Devon jumped a little when he was suddenly right behind her, shooting a quick glance over her shoulder at him before turning back to the case and shaking her head. “Oh, no… No, you don’t have to do that. It’s fine… I’ll just… look for something less expensive…” Even though I know she would love this…
