"That sounds nice," Barry told her, removing his hands from her hair and instead intertwining their fingers. "You should sit in my lap more often. It's comfy."

@blue_topaz

(Yeah)

Barry retrieved their thickest, warmest blanket and wrapped it around both his and Kasey’s shoulders, pulling her close. Rain repeatedly struck the roof of their tent, the deafening sound enveloping them in a chilly cocoon.

"Well… There go all of our plans for the day," Kasey sighed as she snuggled closer to Barry. "Much as I love the rain, it really puts a damper on things, doesn't it?"

@blue_topaz

“Yeah,” he agreed, stifling a small sneeze. “And we’re in a tent. And it’s cold. But it’s okay, I can warm you up.”

Kasey blinked and glanced at him, her eyebrows raised in slight curiosity. "Oh? And how do you plan on doing that?"

(Oh, I just remembered that Kasey and Harper don't really get sick… Like, ever… For some reason, they have a heightened immune system that they get from their powers.)

@blue_topaz

(Oof got it
Maybe Barry gets sick?)

“By hugging the crap out of you. And kissing you, of course.” He grinned, bumped his nose against hers.

@blue_topaz

(Wait wdym?)

“No complaints, I hope?” he teased, reaching up to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear. “We could do a repeat of yesterday…”

@blue_topaz

(….. we were? You mean, right now..?)

He chuckled quietly, repressing another shiver and beginning to toy with her hair. “Did you bring any books?”

@blue_topaz

(… I don’t remember on it being planned beforehand)

“Maybe.. you could read aloud?” he suggested in an almost shy tone of voice.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(sure, good idea
also, after the camping trip, could one of them get sick so the other has to take care of them?)

(^^^ ?)

Kasey blinked and smiled at him, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. “Sure, babe. I can do that,” she said softly, carefully pulling away just enough that she could grab one of the books from her backpack. “Does [insert book title because I’m too lazy to think of one] sound good?”

Kasey grinned and moved into his arms once again. She snuggled into him, turning so she was facing away from him, before beginning to read…

I jumped onto my horse and raced away as quickly as possible. I needed to get out of there. My parents, the king and queen of the kingdom of Starlace, had done something terrible: they had betrothed me against my wishes, and to a man that I didn’t even know! Well… I didn’t know him now. I had apparently met him when I was three, but that didn’t matter now.
I rode until the sky started to turn dark, then stopped and looked around, surprised. I was in the woods flanking my castle. These woods were a terrible place to be. There were rumors of giant wolves, as large as a pony. To get back home, I needed my compass. It was a gift from the captain of our ships, whom I took lessons from. It was a great gift because who knew when you might get stranded on your own in the dark? Just like I was, now…

@blue_topaz

(what book is this?)

Barry let his eyes fall shut as she read, slowly coaxing her onto his lap so he could hold her better. The words washed over him, the sound of rainfall dimming in comparison.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(That’s my own book. Lol. It’s not the best…)

Now all I wanted was to get home. Thankfully, I had those lessons from the Captain. Home should be north of here, as the woods were south of the castle. Knowing that, I turned my horse around and rode him in the direction that I hoped would bring me home.
After riding for what felt like hours, I started to hear shouts and trumpets. Riding out of the woods, I saw my castle. My parents were standing in front of a crowd of soldiers, giving them directions. It sounded like they were sending out a search party for me.
“Stop!” I yelled as I rode out into the open, “I’m right here!”
As I got closer, I saw my mother look up at me with tears in her eyes and nudge my father. He looked up, and my mother buried her face in his shoulder.

(Do you want to skip to whentheyre done?)
