"And…?" she prompted gently, carefully. "Where did you stay? What did you do?"
"And…?" she prompted gently, carefully. "Where did you stay? What did you do?"
"A small apartment. Got a job. Tried to remember where you were.." He replied, leaving out most of the details. This was all she needed to know for now.
(that sounds like he was cheating on her or something but he would never)
(yeah dw, I never would have thought that)
"And how has the year been? Have you been okay?" A sudden, frightening thought occurring to her, she slid her hands up his wrists and rolled up both of his sleeves.
(kk)
(also wouldn't Raf be crazy worried by now if she hasn't shown up to see him yet?)
"You don't have to do that.." He said, opening his eyes and taking her hands. "If anything, I should be checking your arms.."
(whoops
I'll have him call her, she probably has her phone on silent
should he come by now to see Tyler or nah?)
A sigh of relief escaped her when she saw that his arms were largely unmarked, but when he spoke, a bolt of fear went through her heart. After a pause, she lowered her eyes. "Go ahead."
(it's up to you. He'd probably be pissed at tyler so that's fun)
Tyler slowly and gently pushed her sleeves up, staring down at her arms in disbelief. "I..I'm so sorry…"
(oof
Maybe in a bit? After they've talked? Or we can do it the next morning)
Row upon row of tiny tally marks spiralled down her arms, some faded, some darker, as if they had been redone. Larger scars slashed through the mess, distorting the numbers, and here and there, words were visible. Pathetic. Coward. Monster. Closer to her wrists were scabs, fresh cuts, the most recent of them from only that morning. Macha glued her eyes to the floor. "There are more on my legs and stomach."
(it's up to you, he can come whenever)
Tyler lifted her chin up with his hand so he could see her eyes. "This ends today." He said firmly.
(Kk
I guess I'll have him come in after a bit)
"Maybe…." she whispered quietly, closing her eyes so that she wouldn't have to face him like this. "Are you sure you still want me?"
(k)
"Definitely. I'll never stop loving you Macha..no matter what happens.." Tyler promised, rolling her sleeves back down.
Macha blinked rapidly to dispel the sudden onslaught of tears. "I love you too…" was all she could whisper in response.
Tyler wrapped his arms around Macha and held her against him, never wanting to let her go.
Macha sank into his embrace, gripping him like a lifeline. Words weren't enough to explain the immense gratitude she felt, so she didn't try.
"You should get some sleep now." Tyler told her, hoping she would agree with him.
"I want to stay with you longer…." she told him softly, inhaling his blissfully familiar scent.
"Who says you can't stay with me as long as you want?" Tyler asked, sighing contentedly.
"I want to be conscious of your presence and I want to talk to you," Macha corrected herself. She was about to say more when her phone slid out of her sweater pocket, landing on the floor with a thump. When she picked it up, the screen lit up, and she saw the twelve missed calls from Rafael. "Shit…" she muttered quietly. "Just give me a moment." Unlocking the device, she called her friend back.
"Who's that?" Tyler asked quietly, more to himself then Macha. He took her hand, lacing her fingers with his and gazed down at it as she called Rafael.
Rafael picked up less than a second after she pressed 'call'.
"Macha oh my god are you okay?? It's been almost an hour what happened??"
Macha bit her lip sheepishly, trying to figure out whether or not she should tell the truth.
"Sorry, Raf… I'm fine, I promise. Something important came up."
She sent a mental message to Tyler. It's Rafael, I was supposed to meet him. Can he come over?
Sure. Tyler responded, the name sparking recognition somewhere inside of him. He frowned, trying to remember.
A sudden thought occurred to her. Do you remember Rafael? Brown hair and eyes, tall, Hispanic, tried to hit on you once?
"And you didn't text?" Rafael didn't sound mad, just worried and relieved.
"Believe me, if this had happened to you, you would have forgotten too."
"What happened?"
Tyler stayed confused until his face lit up a second later and he nodded a little. It's faint but I remember somethings about him.
Alright. He'll be happy to see you… he's the only one other than Morrigan who knows the truth about what happened, she replied, referring to the young woman who had pulled her away from the edge of the building before she jumped.
"It's…. complicated. When can you come by my place?"
When Rafael replied, he sounded extremely confused. "I'll be over in five. See you?"
"See you."
I don’t know…will he? Tyler asked doubtfully, still frowning a little bit.
Yes, she replied simply, before hanging up on Rafael.
Five minutes later, as promised, there was a loud knock on the door. Biting the inside of her cheek, Macha went to answer it.
"Macha!" Rafael stepped inside, embracing her. "So, what happened?"
Tyler stayed on the floor, looking up at Rafael nervously. “Hello.” He said quietly, recognizing Rafael as the waiter who had noticed him earlier.
Rafael stopped dead in his tracks, staring at the apparition before him. He didn’t speak for several minutes, until his lips finally parted in a soft “Oh.” Tears blurred his vision.
Tyler stood up slowly, taking a couple steps towards Rafael. “Uh..thanks for..being there for..Macha..when I wasn’t…” He stammered.
Rafael stepped forward to crush is friend in a huge bear hug, unable to form proper sentences.
Tyler laughed a little and hugged him back, a bit surprised that Rafael wasn’t trying to kill him.
