Citra cleared her throat, but didn't move. "What are your people like?" she asked curiously

“The Brothers are wise. And kind. They teach well, pray devoutly, and sing gloriously.” He stared off into the distance, remembering all his years past, surrounded by the kind old men who had cared for him so well.
“The villagers are different. Less studied. More… Wild. They dance. I don’t think the Brothers have ever danced. They are a curious people. Less quiet but more open, even when they are silent. The Brothers will answer any questions no matter how private , and do it gladly. But all the while, except for occasion, they are… reserved.”
He looked at her. “The villagers are never like that. If they want to speak, they will do so fully. And if they wish to be silent there is no way to make them speak.”
He chuckled to himself. They were a strange, yet wondrous folk.
“The seemed more human than anyone else I have ever seen…”
He stopped. “Not that I have seen much of course. There is more in this world than I have ever imagined.” He rested his eyes on Citra as he said this.

She was watching him intently as he spoke. Her sharp gaze picking up the subtle emotion spreading across his handsome features. "It sounds wonderful, peaceful…happy." She couldn't stress that word enough and she gently squeezed his hand. What I would give to see a world so different than my own. "You've been only there your entire life?"

“Truly.” he replied. “Barely outside of the temple grounds, and never outside of the village.” His golden eyes glowed as he spoke. “I was raised well, and I was always content. Just. As I aged I grew weary of my same surroundings. Then the Brothers decided it was my time to leave them.”

Citra hummed, sympathizing with his wanderlust. Something that had plagued her for years and years while hidden under her parent's home. Out of sight so their shame would never be known. "And when you return? Will you be hailed a hero?" She teased, hiding the wince that the memories had brought on.

Citra jumped, her hand tensing in Zol's. "Oh you do not want to hear of my city. It is boring and…" She trailed off waving her free hand vaguely, refusing to meet his inquisitive stare.

Citra considered for a moment, her hand relaxing the tiniest bit within Zol's grip, But when she looked up at him after another few moments her eyes were large and sad. "I honestly could not tell you if my city was beautiful or not. At least not within its walls… I only ever saw a few streets around my home, the patheon of the gods, and the forest that lay beyond the walls…."

Citra considered for another few moments debating what to tell him. What did it matter now? She knew no one was looking for her. The last time her family had gone to the forest house, she had packed her bag and left. Walked straight out the door before meeting this group. She sighed.
"Where I am from hybrids are extremely rare and considered shameful. A blight on the bloodline. Only the purest magics are allowed. If a hybrid child is born, they are usually left to die…" She trailed off, tucking a strand of her dark hair behind her ear.
"For some reason my parents decided not to let that happen, instead to keep me within the walls of the basement beneath our home. I was allowed to go out with my siblings but never allowed too far from the house or to use my abilities. I was like a ghost… until I…left." She looked far off into the forest, the dark twinkle in her eyes suddenly missing.

“Such thinking is foolish,” he said. “More power means even more of a chance to do good.” He looked into her eyes. “You’re freedom seems bittersweet. Why do you not rejoice exceedingly?”

Citra glanced back at Zol, getting lost in his intense gaze. "I don't know what to do with it…" She murmured softly. "Or where to go when this is all over. What good can I do, if I, myself, am lost?"

"Perhaps." Citra mused, rewarding his words with a smile. She enjoyed speaking to Zol, something about it was so incredibly easy and light. She almost chuckled at the irony.

Citra could see that he was trying to cheer her, so she allowed the laugh that bubbled in her chest. "Indeed! Because true power lies in creating tiny light dragons."

Frost listened curiously. Then turning to piper "hey what about your hometown?" She asked.

Piper's eyes lit up at the mention of her cove. "Well, I live in a Cove, deep down in the darkest parts of the ocean. It's basically like a little town, except we live in a connection of caves, and we have bioluminescent plants lighting the pathways and rooms." She gushed, moving her hands around excitedly as she spoke. "The strange thing is that none of us are blood-related; we're all 'born' in clamshells, and then the shells open when we're ready to emerge. There's a sacred room for it too, but no one except the Doyen is allowed in there," Once she realised she was babbling, Piper ducked her head, ears burning. Jeez, I cannot shut up.

Citra nodded in agreement. Who knew that there was an entire world beneath the waves? It sounded like a fable her grandmother used to tell her before she passed. She had never seen the ocean herself, but she had heard wonderful things about it from her siblings.

Piper grinned. "Yeah, it is," she said, eyes glittering in reminisce. How I miss them… "Everyone in the Cove had a close bond to each other. It was actually pretty nice."

Deleted user

Frost couldn't help but think about the bond she had with her family, and smiling at Pipers words, "I know what you mean," ashe said "My family has a bond like that"

Citra shifted uncomfortably. To be completely honest with herself, she was jealous of the other girls. Such lives they had lived with happy, strong families. She shook her head, just because she didn't have it before doesn't mean she won't have it in the future.

Citra looked up at Zol, opening her mouth to say something, but decided against it. Her eyes gleamed with thanks and she squeezed his hand again.
