“Mine as well of course.” said Zol. “What is mine shall always be open to you all.” He pulled out his bag of rations and set it out, slightly closer to Piper than anybody else.
“Mine as well of course.” said Zol. “What is mine shall always be open to you all.” He pulled out his bag of rations and set it out, slightly closer to Piper than anybody else.
Citra said nothing as she took set her pack of rations out as well. Her blackflame fire flared in response to an emotion, Citra forcefully ignored and the grin she aimed at the group was a happy one. "Seems we have a feast."
Zol sent her a smile. “A cheerful countenance should be welcomed everywhere. Your cheerfulness lifts my spirits.” He sat down as close as he dared next to Piper.
Frost smiled then seeing as it was getting a bit dark she summoned fireballs to light up the thicket,
Citra blushed and cleared her throat at Zol's words. His attentions are elsewhere, Citra, she told herself. "Ah well–You are most welcome." She smiled again as she bit into a dried fruit.
Frost ate her own meal silently, enjoying the light of the flames.
Piper swiped the ration in front of her, quickly glancing at Zol in the process. She didn't miss how he sat close to her, or how he placed the rations closer to her than anyone else. Glancing at him once again, she dug into her rations, eating them quickly, She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, and turned toward Zol once she was done. Here goes nothing. "Zol, mind if we talk?"
He sat up immediately. “Of course. I- I mean yes- I mean I do not mind in the slightest.”
Piper stood up, and beckoned him to do the same. "Come, let's go somewhere more private." She started to walk towards a secluded part of the woods, where they would be out of sight and hearing for the others.
Zol got up, signaling to Citra that everything was fine, and followed Piper out into the darkness. They walked for a little while, then stopped underneath the trees of the beginnings of a shadowed wood.
Piper turned around to face Zol and crossed her arms, in a defensive position. "So, Zol. I apologize for making you something of a pariah in our group. It was never my intention, but you must realize our relationship cannot forget wrongdoings easily." The words flowed easily, and she made sure to make her tone light. "And please do not take these words as condemning you. I am only trying to fix the rift between us." She clasped her hands together and braced herself for Zol's response.
Zol tried to keep his breathing steady before he responded.
“Thank you,” he began.
“You need not apologize. It was always I who was at fault. Nevertheless, as you are willing to forgive me, I too shall attempt to forgive myself.”
He took a breath.
“I hold you in no disregard for what you have done, it was natural for you to react such to your pain.” He paused.
“Though you hold me less accountable than I am, I shall always be willing to do you service in repayment.”
He held out his hand to her. “Comrades once more?”
Citra sat, mulling over the confusing feelings she seemed to be having of late. She sighed, playing with her blackflame. "Frost? Since you wield fire as well…do you think you could control my blackflame?" She paused forming a little wolf out of her flame and making it dance about the thicket. "Others in my home city could not, but I wonder…" She let the question dangle as she looked up hopefully at the girl.
"I'm not sure," said Frost, "My fire element stems from the fact that I'm part Solaris wolf, and the fire of a Solaris wolf tends to be a light tinged element…" she paused thoughtfully, "But there's no harm in trying." she held out a hand, focusing on the flames before her she silently asked them to come to her,
Citra sat still, trying as hard as she could to not use her power although it seemed ingrained into her very subconsciousness. When the blackflame didn't budge from where it was happily flickering on the logs, she frowned. "Oh…" She looked away for a moment embarrassment coloring her cheeks. But then she scooted closer to the wolf girl. "Maybe this will work." She extended a hand towards Frost and swirled it gracefully so that a ball of the blackflame rested in her hand. "Hold out your hand."
(Sorry! all my RP's exploded)
Frost nodded and held out her hand, "What will this do?"
Piper smiled, and shook Zol's hand. It was surprisingly warm to the touch, and callused. "Comrades. And don't be too hard on yourself. Everyone makes mistakes." she added, her tone light.
For the first time he gave her a true, genuine smile. “I thank you.” he said, “And I am glad to count you as a friend.”
Piper's heart warmed at the smile. Zol was one of her only friends, and she wasn't about to lose that. "Well, I think it's time we head back," she nodded towards the darkened sky. "We wouldn't want to be eaten, now would we?" she teased.
He grinned, “Of course not.”
He led the way back to the camp, letting his glowing staff light the way before them.
Frost nodded and held out her hand, "What will this do?"
Citra frowned the tiniest bit. "Well. I am going to attempt to give it to you to hold." She exchanged a slightly worried look with Frost and chuckled a little awkwardly. She did not want to hurt the girl at all.
"I uh, hope this works. Magic is quite strange, you know?" She was babbling, but it was working enough to distract them both as Citra carefully dropped the burning black ball of flame into Frost's waiting hand.
Frost watched the flames carefully, it didn't burn, but it was hotter to the touch than her own fire. "It's really warm," she said, "But it isn't burning,"
Piper followed Zol back into the camp, and plopped down on one side of Citra. The black flames caught her eyes, and she watched with interest. "What are you guys doing?" she asked.
"We're seeing if I can manipulate her black flame" answered Frost, not taking her hand off the fire as she willed it to take a shape. then suddenly the blackflame took the shape of a winged wolf, then shifted into a winged warrior flying around in circles over her hand.
Zol watched with interest. “Remarkable.” he breathed.
Frost laughed and let the fire grow a little, then it changed into a dragon, who curled up in her hand.
Citra watched the spectacle with a grin that stretched from ear to ear. It was nice to know that she could finally share her abilities with others. "Everything alright?" She asked Piper and Zol gently, leaning back onto her elbows and crossing her legs.
Frost played with the blackflame, careful to keep it on a tight reign as she experimented with more fire creatures and shapes.
Zol gave her a reassuring smile. “Indeed. Piper and I are in perfect contentment with one another.”
Citra eyes had been focused on the blackflame in Frost's hands, making sure it behaved properly, but as Zol spoke her gaze flicked over to him. An expression flashed over her face before disappearing behind a careful smile. "Good! Good."
