“Oh.” Pierre was confused to find disappointment in the pit of his stomach.
“Oh.” Pierre was confused to find disappointment in the pit of his stomach.
"General said you can come now or later. But you've got uh, three days at the most," he smiled.
Pierre nodded, faking a smile. “Tell him I’ll be around soon, I guess. How’s Cruz?”
Geoffrey laughed, "His sister just gave birth. He'll be back in three days too," he informed lightheartedly, "Makes the rest of the regiment uncles too!"
Pierre laughed with him. “Sounds great, I’ll see you in a few days then.”
"Don't get too busy now. Wouldn't want you sore during drills." He whispered in another raunchy tease.
Pierre flushed bright red, shoving his comrade away. “Watch it, Geoffrey.”
"Aye," he laughed. "Bye, Pierre. See you soon!"
Edonine gladly shut the door. "Men." She quietly scoffed.
“Yeah, men,” he echoed. “Sorry about him.”
"Its fine." She murmured discouragedly.
“No, it’s not. He was rude. I’m sorry.”
Edonine waved her hand in dismissal. "I should get back to the chickens." She murmured.
“Or we could go back to the writing thing?” he suggested, referring to their earlier lesson.
"Its okay. Youll only be here for three more days anyway," Edonine replied in a partial mutter.
Pierre looked away. “I’m sorry.”
She wiped her nose, said nothing.
He sighed, glancing back up at her. “I promise that if I live, I’ll come back, okay? And I can visit before that—“
She touched his arm. "It's okay, Pierre," Edonine reassured, in a much softer tone.
"Ex-extremely," the Lieutenant stammered.
She giggled and bit her lip. Her eyes looked deep into his. "Is that all?"
A sheen of nervous sweat scintillated across his forehead. "Is it?" He echoed with a very small bit of humor.
She tilted her head to the side. "That's for you to decide," she murmured.
He opened to mouth his speak, his lips moved with a manner if incapability to do so. "Very.." He whispered, didn't finish.
She touched his arm. "It's okay, Pierre," Edonine reassured, in a much softer tone.
Pierre sighed, eyes flicking away again. "If you say so."
She pulled him towards herself, and hugged him.
His eyes widened in shock at her embrace, especially due to her reaction when he'd tried to hug her the past night, but he quickly sank into her arms. Carefully, so as not to startle or hurt her, he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her back, finding solace in the rare moment.
Edonine shut her eyes. Oh, what would he think of her if he was in her head. So strange how such a short time had passed and she had grown so very fond of this man.
(I'm rereading some Andrane and it's making my day XD)
The embrace was gentle, warm, Pierre was almost afraid to break it. So instead, he kept his arms loose around her so that she could pull away whenever she wanted to. But it felt strangely nice, to have her in his arms like this. To have her want to be hugged by him. It was entirely new to him, and he wasn't sure how to feel about it.
XD getting a little
hot, andré?? 😂 )
Finally, she pulled away.
(lmao)
Pierre took a step back, suddenly very unsure. Each movement he made felt so.. clumsy compared to the graceful way Edonine did everything.
She pushed hair behind her ear. A gesture he'd become familiar with over the course of his short time being conscious with her. Her chartreuse eyes, yellowish green like golden delicious apple trees, flickered down.
