She wasn't expecting the kiss in all honestly, though when it happened she found herself blushing enough to match her name. She quickly tried to calm down her flustered and heated face so it wouldn't be so apparent. When the kids ended she immediately looked away from him to hide her face.
She sat with him at their table as people dance, she noticed how he put a hand on the top of his sword and how he was cautious. She moved to place her hand on his own, to remind him that he wasn't alone and she was sure that it wouldn't be needed.
"Perhaps…we should…dance?"

Lucian blinked serval times before turning and facing Ruby. He had been too utterly focused to feel her moving until she was touching him. he placed his hand on hers, gave it a squeeze, then promptly moved it off of his sword. He didn't like people touching his things, especially his weapons. He also didn't want to risk her getting hurt.
"Would you like to dance?" He knew enough that was an invitation for him to ask her. He may be a man but he was versed enough in the ways of a woman that he knew when to ask for dance.

She moved her hand away from his hand when he moved it off of his sword. She nodded to him when he did so, before hearing him ask her if she would like to dance. She just thought it could be fun, but she didn't think about all of the people that could be watching and waiting for her to fail or mess up.
"Well..i would, would you?"

Lucian stood then, and held out his hand for her to take. "I'll dance as ling as you'd like."
He wasn't particularly found of dancing. He would rather finish his dinner and go to bed. He found no enjoyment of entertaining courtiers and found these receptions to be more for them than for the married couple.

Ruby stood up and took his hand, moving to walk with him towards the dance floor. She smiled at him softly and noticed his gaze was a bit distracted, so she moved a bit closer to him and whispered to him. “Hey…don’t focus on them, focus on me.”

Lucian looked down at his wife. What a strange thing to say. Wife. He never thought he would have one of those. At least not for a long time. He gave her a soft smile and brought her hand up to his lips. "Of course, my dear, my attention is all yours."

she ended up blushing as he held her hand up to his lips, and he kissed it. She let out a soft giggle, though she didn't know why she was giggling. She honestly was so hocked no one else wanted to be with him, he's such a dream.
"As mine is yours, my love." She spoke softly, smiling at him.

Lucian led her to the dance floor. He placed a gentle hand on her waist and held the other in his hand. His ha ds, rough and riddled with calluses. Years of training and battle had hardened the skin along with his heart. It would a take a long while for him to open uo his heart and let someone in. Perhaps this gentle creature would be the one to do it. Or perhaps she wouldn't. Only time would tell.

He led her into the waltz, swaying with the music and following along the steps. He was a good dancer, he just didn't enjoy it. But he would entertain his wife for as long as she wanted to dance.

She was dancing with him for a while along the dance floor, but she could tell that he wasn't really enjoying it. So she told him that she was good after about an hour of dancing, she felt bad for making him dance for so long but she didn't want to leave his embrace…It made her feel safe, and it was a lot nicer then being watched by everyone that was there.
She felt herself lean a bit into him as they danced, before stood up straight and went to go sit down with him when they were finished up with dancing.
"Thank you, for dancing with me. I enjoyed it." She spoke softly.

Lucian had other places he would rather be but he wasn't a barbarian. He had just been married and he wasn't going to abandon his new wife on the dance floor just hours after they had been married. He may be a brutal man, but he would not shame his wife. He would do good by her. Mainly by leaving her to her own devices and giving her the freedom, physically and financially to do so.
He nodded his head to her as the dance finally ended and they went to go sit. He took a glass of wine, sipping on it as he settled into his seat. "You should drink. You must be thirsty." Dancing for what seemed like hours to him had left him parched. There was water and wine available and hard liquor was only a request away.

Ruby sat down with him, smiling as she was just thinking about how different this had been then what she had been expecting on the way here.
Oh she needed to write home and tell her siblings about how wonderful everything has been..she was sure her siblings were worrying about her and how she was settling in. She made a mental note to do it later, now was a time for celebration. She called one of the servers over and smiled sweetly at them,
"could you please fetch me a drink?" She spoke softly, seemingly comfortable enough to do things on her own for once.
Unfortunately the servant misheard her..and brought her a glass of hard liquor. Though the glass looked like water, so she took it from him without a second thought.
She moved to sip from the glass, only cringing a bit when she was put off by the taste.
That definitely doesn't taste like water…oh but maybe it's just that the water is different here? she wondered to herself. She continued to drink what she thought was water, before finishing the cup. She found herself a bit flustered, her cheeks a light pink.
Why I am all of a sudden light headed and warm..?
She looked over at Lucian and ended up smiling at him, she let out a small giggle as she thought about how sweet he had been to her…and how thankful she was for him. And…I
Other things.

Lucian sipped on his glass of wine, watching the crowd. An old habit that just wouldn't die. He was watching the crowd for threats and his eyes kept flickering to the entrances and exits. Public settings have never made him very comfortable, and one with a big a crowd as this, he was out if his element. He would much rather send everyone home and call it a night. Unfortunately, his father might just flay his back if even suggested it. So he stuck here, in this insufferable clothing at this insufferable ball.
As he heard giggling at his side, strange, he turned his head to look down at Ruby. He raised an eyebrow. It was only as he looked at her further, cheeks flushed, eyes glazing, that he realized she was intoxicated. He took the glass she was holding and sniffed it. Vodka. Who in their right mind gave her this? He woukd have them fired immediately. He set the glass to the side where she coukdnt reach. "No more for you, darling."
