Haruta was sitting on his throne, reading official royal documents. He had a long list of citizens to memorize who had requested to meet with him, along with reports about how the kingdoms food supply was barring. He had to make sure to look over everything along with the requests for his blessing.
He made sure that he forced himself to read those requests no matter how tiresome it was. He had to keep up his duties to the throne if he wanted to keep this position.
Still, he couldn't help but wonder about what his supposed wife was doing, could she be rooming the halls?
Perhaps she went down to the village to get as far away from him as possible. If he were her, he would also want to seperate himself as far away from the person that forced them to marry.
Well, he did grant them leisure time and hasn't even forced them to any royal meetings and the like.
He let out a small hmph, maybe he should force her to read all the people's demands and requests out loud so he could process them better.
He stretched out his arms, figuring he would take a quick break at the castle library. He got up from the throne and rolled up the parchment, making his way to the library through the halls of the castle.

Wasted. Emese feels as if she has been casted away and has wasted all the potential she had built up for herself. Quite frankly, she was originally excited about marrying the crown prince. As the temporary head of the house, her brother, Gwi, was in no position to refuse. Who would refuse a marriage proposal from the soon to be king?

She would. By the heavens and all the spirits. If she had known now sitting in the castle library practically collecting dust like some of the books, she would have gone back in time to run off with a barbarian or some rebel. But here she is, sitting in the far corner of the library with a book on her lap. A lady-in-waiting is standing by a bookshelf far away, keeping an eye on her. The book hasn't been touched in half an hour.

Her eyes flickered down to the jade wedding bands she has to wear. She has written to Gwi and her brothers how much looking at it hurts her. Emese thought she would being married to the king, being queen would mean sitting at royal meetings, listening to subjects and their problems then solving them; things that she can do practically by herself. She even thought it meant spending time with the king. Being his loving dutiful wife, queen, but she can only recall passing by him in the halls.

She has done nothing but sparring, reading, walking, talking to ambassadors and their wives, going to help soldiers and their ailments or injuries, writing, and so on. All of which she does like, but now those activities are reminders that she is being taken for granted and she is wasting her potential as a queen, wife, or whatever.

Her fingers curled up on the edges of the book. Eventually her lady-in-waiting heard something then dashed over to her. Emese sighed then motioned for the lady-in-waiting to stand outside the library then. They both knew who was on their way. And yes, Emese wished she could just run away.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He made quick work of making it to the library, strolling down the hallways with his long legs. He take the hallways in stride as he walked, however when he got there he noticed his wife's lady in waiting at the door.
Could she be here…?
If his wife was here, then maybe perhaps he could help her with the royal documents. Of course, he didn't think she could help him other then reading things out to him and the like. He didn't exactly believe women to be very estut, then again that was his own fault.
He knew not to disrespect women however, being one to interact with the maids quit often before he came king, although it was mostly so they would keep his secrets because he treated them so well. Now he hardly had time to have a meal with the servants, or visit them.
"Is the queen in the royal library then?" He raised a brownin question to the lady in waiting as he looked down at her with his arms crossed.
He would not be pleased if he was kept waiting for an answer.

@knightinadream group

Her lady-in-waiting kept her chin to the floor. She stood a foot away from the wall. Keeping her gaze down, she bowed at the king when he walked by. "Uhhh…yes, Your Majesty….Her Majesty is in the royal library," She nodded. "She is on the far side in the back if you wish to see her."

Emese finally found the motivation to open up the book that has been sitting in her lap for so long. Initially she did want to read it given that it was one that her father, Gwi, and all soldiers have to know in order to be good fighters. Although she may not necessarily need it, she thought that it would give her further insight on her studies of being what she wants to be: an influential and wise queen.

But if only she could. The road to it doesn't seem to exist now and it's all thanks to Haruta. She is treading on unknown grassy paths that makes her wonder if she will go anywhere. She knows that she doesn't want to be another queen who just lies around, buying useless dresses, having children, and only bring remembered because her portraits are pretty. No, while she does not really mind the bearing children part, she wants to be more than the typical queen, because she knows she can.

On the other hand, she could not wrap around her mind in order to get it to focus on the pages. Her fingers still squeezed on the edges till her knuckles turned white. The fact that Haruta is here just keeps coming up in her mind. A mixture of anger, frustration, sadness, and confusion loomed over her head as she held the book up closer to her face.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

"Hm..alright. thank you my lady." He spoke, moving to open the door to the library himself.
"Try and work on making eye contact next time, it's disrespectful to avoid eye contact when speaking to your king." He didn't say it in a threatening tone, just a plain one. He walked into the library and shut the door behind him. He looked around, taking his time to glance through the library.
should I go visit her? I hardly believe she would want to see me. I am her husband however, I shouldn't be neglecting her as if she doesn't exist.
He let out a soft sigh, Turning to go towards where she was located. He wasn't trying to mask his steps either.
She would be able to hear him coming.
He took his sweet time getting to her, but by the time he did get to her he noticed she was reading a book.
well, at least she's actually reading.

@knightinadream group

It took her mere moments to wrestle her conscious. All the emotions unraveled at the fact Haruta is going to be wandering into the library and most likely walking over to her until she was able to calm herself down. The grip loosened on the book, yet she noticed the imprint of her fingers on the corners of the paper.

Yes, she was actually reading. Despite the book's contents detailing war strategies, she picked up parts that even a queen in her wretched position would need. The roughness of the paper and the light smoothness of the cover kept her sane. Reading helped her block out all the thoughts that tried to penetrate her focus.

What could not was the creaking of the doors opening or the slightly heavy steps of her "husband" walking in. Here it is, here fifteen minutes of attention that she will be getting. When will the next fifteen be? She has no idea. Swallowing, she pretended to not care as she flipped to the next page. Her shoulders relaxed.

But her tight grip returned. It came back the moment she could see him in her peripherals. Emese was not sure what to feel at the moment. She was not sure to what say to him at first. What is it that you want from me? Did your advisors tell you to actually form a bond with your wife? You remember that I am your wife, yes? The one you chose to marry to get the crown?

Closing the book, she set her hands neatly on top of it then turned her head to look at him. Her face remained neutral, nonchalant. "You were not expecting me to be in here, were you?"

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He noticed how she shut the book, placing her hands on top, crossing her fingers together. He cleared his throat as he spoke. His gaze was mostly just a flat stare. Though from time to time you might see some flickers of him analyzing her.
"No, I was not expecting you to be In here." He spoke firmly, but not like he was infront of a crowd. It was just how he spoke.
He was holding the parchment in his hand that he was trying to avoid, or get new inspiration to read.
He tried to look at the book she was reading, but he failed. Her hands were covering the title of the book, it didn't look like it was from the castle library.
He would know, he's spent a lot of time in these walls since he was just a kid.
"Your welcome to leave if you would like, though I also won't force you." He didn't really know what he was supposed to be talking about in the first place.

@knightinadream group

There is something about staring into Haruta's eyes that made her wonder what he was thinking. Obviously they hadn't had a deep conversation at all nor is their bond solid enough to do such a thing. His voice is more powerful that he could expect. It made her feel like she was walking on the shatters of her heart. His gaze was something she was supposed to be yearning for, and yet, it made her question a lot of things.

"I see…." She muttered. Focusing back on her book, she opened it up to the page where she left off. For a moment, she was actually more engaged with the reading. In the corner of her eye, she noticed that he was holding something, a piece of paper. Her sight squinted before returning to what she was reading.

Perhaps it was a letter or some delineation on a plan or strategy. Oh, if only she could be a part of it. To dream of being in charge of something of the sorts is foolish on her part. Must make her the biggest fool of them all then.

Shutting the book again, she had it rest on her lap, but this time her hands relaxed on the arms of her chair. That is until she gestured to the parchment he is holding. "And what is that you are holding? Is it something to lead you here for further insight or guidance among the books?"

She shook her head. "Well I am glad you are not forcing me this time, although I believe that I will be staying here for the time being. Might as well be the part of your wife and see you."

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He thought that maybe for a second, they wouldn't be trying to continue the conversation. That is until she asked about the paper in his Hand, rolled up.
He thought for a moment if he should tell her, maybe he could convince her to read over all of it and tell him what was needed of him.
Though he was the king, and he needed to the work himself.
He couldn't allow someone to do it for him because he had gotten unmotivated.
"Just some documents on the people's requests." He spoke, holding onto the paper. He looked around for a table to sit at, and spotted one not far off from where she was sitting.
He moved over to the table, and set down the paper. He sat down in the chair and unrolled the paper so he could look at it once more.
"Your welcome to stay as long as you would like.'

@knightinadream group

She wanted to continue the conversation. Not to express her ever growing frustration at him, but somehow her heart still has room for hope, for him. Truly though, it is small, smaller than everything else that lies in her heart. But what would he know? What would she know about it? She is trying to ignore the feelings that lay dormant in there for it is impossible to be dormant herself.

Emese sighed. Her eyes still focused on the paper. The wish to be involved, to be another to make decisions rose up within her. She knew she couldn't say such things to him. Would he willingly listen to her?

"Oh, I see…." She added. Softly biting the inside of her bottom lip, her eyes continued to stare at it as if it were some sort of wonder. Silly really. "Well aren't you so kind, I believe that I will." And she opened her book, despite her focus being elsewhere.

Watching as Haruta sat down at a table within an earshot, she sighed. Her eyes still on the paper, her heart wanting to be somebody other than a wife being ignored by her husband. Emese suddenly stated, "And if you need help with solutions to their requests, I am right here."

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He was reading it to himself, though not loud enough for her to be able to over hear anything but him muttering to himself for ideas on how to solve issues.
He looked up when he noticed she was still continuing to speak, did she really want to talk to him that much? Was she not satisfied with being allowed to stay and read in the library?
Did she perhaps, not know that library's aren't ment for chatter?
She couldn't be that daft.
If she was, he severely overestimated her.
He looked up and over at her.
"Why would you want to help with something like this?" He raised a brow at her, noticing her stare.
"Wouldn't you rather I leave you alone to read whatever it is your reading?" He was hoping she would say yes, he wasn't wanting to continue the conversation and she was messing up his concentration.

@knightinadream group

Eventually Emese did go back to actually reading. She can read with noise and commotion going on, yet his murmuring kept breaking her focus. She wants to do something. She needs to take action while living in this palace and being the queen. She will never be a normal queen who does nothing. Never. She cannot be satisfied unless she does something about it.

His question made her shut her book swiftly and slam it onto the end table next to her. She did everything within her ability to keep calm, but how can she be calm in a situation like this? How?

"Because that is something a queen such as myself is supposed to do. Help with decision-making and even doing some of the decision-making ourselves. And we are supposed to be good, loving, dutiful wives by helping and supporting our husbands, the kings." She huffed at herself while clenching her skirts.

He should know that he married a crazy, restless, and determined woman from the Seo family; hell, even her father who works for the court is the same way, within reason of course. And yes, she knows how a library works. She's been practically living in this one for weeks!

Her jaw grew tensed. Alone? Leave her alone? "No. You have left me alone ever since our wedding ceremony ended! And I would like be of some use instead of being on a pedestal like I am supposed to be! Wouldn't you like your wife to be here, to help and support you? Cause I am sure you wouldn't want me infuriated and yelling at you in this library because of your faults."

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He just stared at with a curious stare when she slammed the back down on the end table next to her. She should be more respectful towards the books
He thought to himself as he listened to her speak.
He frowned immensely when he realized what she was speaking towards him, he let out an agitated sigh as he moved to say something and was cut off by the answer to his second question. He set the papers down on the table pushing his chair out as he stood up, staring her down.
"MY faults?! I didn't even want a wife! I figured you would rather be free and have all the time yourself, your in this castle with some of the best food in the kingdom and the best garden in the kingdom. You could do anything you wanted too. Apparently that was being too generous!" He had his fist planted on the table.
He grabbed the stupid paper on the table and walked over, "I should have picked someone else, your clearly some witch!" He huffed at her, moving to strut past her attempting to leave the library.

@knightinadream group

Is she being foolish? Is she asking for too much? A weight pressed against her chest as she took deep breaths. Her heart, if she even has one at this point, shivered. Tears welled up, but she kept blinking them away. She will not cry in front of him. She will not cry today at this very hour. Emese already had cried over this last night and the one before that and the one before and so on all because of this.

Though the task proved to be difficult, she listened to him, to every single word he sputtered to her. And in that moment, her legs became wobbly. In her mind she heard shattering underneath her feet from what she knew as her heart.

At first she didn't know what to say. With whatever pride she had at that moment, she kept her chin up even as he tried to walk away. But she could not let him walk away. No, never again.

Emese got up, and grabbed him by the wrist. "Please," She seethed. "When you came to my father and my brothers asking for my hand in marriage, I never knew I could be so happy about being a wife. I thought you would love me and I would love you. I thought you would invite me to royal meetings, having tea with advisors and officials, and all those things. I envy my sister-in-laws because my brothers take care of them and let them be apart of their lives. Aina, Gwi's wife, just had a baby boy three weeks ago, and do you know how much I envy her, of them?"

Looking away, she wiped her eyes with her sleeve. Internally, she cursed herself for being upset. She didn't want to be, but she is. "I am not a witch. You made the right decision to marry me, but you do not give me opportunities to prove it. I am the daughter of Master Seo, a military genius who has saved you and this kingdom time and time again. I am a genius in my own right, and I can be so much more if you would just listen to me, if you would just let me Haruta!"

"I can give you greatness for that is what I am, greatness to you and your crown and your bloodline. You are not being generous….You hurt me, you've abandoned me. I thought marrying you would mean I'd be by your side," She sighed, forcing tears back. Emese kept her grip on his wrist as she stared at him. Deep down, she prayed for him to not go. She really did.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He was about to snap at her when she grabbed him, only to stop when he heard the word please. He looked onto to her, noticing how she was practically crying for him to stay.
what the heck is wrong with this women…?
He thought softly, before just staying there, and turning towards her. He listened to what she had to say before speaking himself. Might as well.
He sighed, reaching to pull her hand off of his arm, and pulling away from her.
"You can bring the kingdom greatness you say, you want a chance to prove yourself." He spoke, before looking down at the papers. He took a deep breath, "here, this has the list of peoples requests to the kingdom. I want you to go through it all, and write down on another paper, I want the answer, and then I want a deep detailed explanation. Understood?" He spoke firmly once again, holding out the paper to her.

@knightinadream group

Emese took the papers gently, then gazed down at them. She briefly skimmed through the words. She's being treated like a scholar. What's more disappointing is that she would rather be treated like a scholar rather than a nonexistent person or a crazy woman. Oh well, by the heavens, this will be a start for her. Hopefully it will get her somewhere better than her current state.

After taking a deep breath, she nodded. She can handle it. By the heavens, she knows she could. "Hold on a moment, please," She said, carefully adding the word "please". Rushing over to the door, she called over her lady-in-waiting. "Mina, could you get me a quill and ink?" She asked.

Her lady-in-waiting nodded then ran off down the hallway. Emese kept looking over her shoulder at Haruta until she felt a rush of wind a few minutes later. The servant was panting but gladly handed her the quill and little box of ink. "Thank you, Mina," She grinned before walking in and closing the doors.

Emese walked over to the table Haruta was at and sat down. "Will you join me? Or shall I just have a servant send these to you? No…if you leave, I will deliver these to you myself." And with that, she turned her attention to the papers.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He stood there impatiently as he tapped his foot, waiting for the lady In waiting to get back with the quil and ink.
She nodded to the lady in waiting,
"thank you for getting this for her miss." He spoke slightly softer to the maid, his eyes softer then earlier, before he hardened up and looked on as em started go work.
He was a bit confused at why she was wearing a grin on her face, but she watched anyway.
He was planning to leave before she started talking again.
"I might as well join you." He grumbled out. Grabbing a book off the shelf and moving to sit down in a chair, spreading his legs out under the table.

@knightinadream group

Emese sat nicely with her feet drawn towards her. She did skim over each and every single on before reading each individual request. After reading one, she would go on to write a full detailed answer followed with an explanation. One after the other, it is the best way to do it.

She wrote with the consideration of what Haruta, officials, and scholars would want or could say. Of course the people who have sent these requests all want something, but there has to be a middle ground needing to be met for all parties.

The whole time she did not look up from the paper. Only time she did was when she had to dip the quill into the ink, but that was only for a few seconds. Even as Haruta was there, it still felt as if he was not there and she was still alone. She hated the feeling, but she was forced to get used to it.

Eventually, she finished. She was not aware hoe much time could have passed by. Emese placed the quill in the ink then gazed down at all the cursive that laid on every single inch of the papers. She took a deep breath while pushing the papers to Haruta. "Here," She said, relaxing back into the chair.

He looked up from his book from time to time to watch how she worked, seeing her hard at work and actually writing down answers. Long ones too.
does she really have the same Intellect as her father?
He lifted a brow, before realizing he was staring and went back to reading his book.
He need to focus on reading the book, it was a novel, a realistic fiction novel.
He was quite enjoying reading it if he would be honest about it.
He was too invested into his book to here her say that she had finished, she may have to get his attention somehow.
