Ariel groaned as she sat up, feeling tired and dizzy and sick to her stomach. She had just gotten off of her shift at the hospital, and after a long day of dealing with rowdy patients who refused to get into the goddamn ambulance and go to the goddamn psych ward and who kept misgendering her every chance they got, she was tired. She could easily shape shift into something more feminine, but could never hold the shape for long, and besides, she'd be denying herself, who she was, and that was the worst thing of all.

But never mind all that. Why was she here, and on that note… where was here?

Arabelle stared after the blue-haired woman, deeply concerned. She’s just gonna… waltz right in? With no second thought?
She tilted her head. “Yeah, with her around, we better hope no one gets in trouble.” She tried to return the smile. “I… I have a bad feeling, not gonna lie.”
Then she heard the groan and saw movement out of the corner of her eye. “Oh hey look, someone did wake up eventually. Are you alright?”

“Hey. Where are we? Who are you? And to answer your question, I don’t know.” she said, fidgeting about. Ariel didn’t know if she would shapeshift or not and didn’t want to seem like more of a freak than she already was, what with her spooky powers and general confused demeanor.

Mia scooted back to give Ariel some breathing space. "Well, we don't know where we are or what's going on, sorry. But I'm Mia, and this here is Arabelle. Another person called Azami just went through that gate over there, and we were just trying to decide whether to follow her or not. I have a hunch it's what we're supposed to do, according to whoever brought us here."

@Tired-but-passionate

“We’re either at the gates of a fake haunted house, or a cult. I only just woke up a few minutes ago.”
She put her hands on her hips and shrugged. She didn’t think the woman was a freak, just confused. She turned to Mia. “What we’re supposed to do? Are you sure?”

"Trust me. I'm no expert in weird magical setups, but I've been around a few megalomaniacs who like to play games with innocent mortal players." Mia dusted off her hands and nodded to the gate. "I'm willing to bet if we try to do anything but go straight through the gate, we'll hit a magic wall, or fall back asleep, or get eaten by monsters. I don't like it either, but on the bright side, my experience also tells me that there's usually a decent chance of escaping these places if you play along and keep your eyes open."

@Tired-but-passionate

She stared at Mia in astonishment. To speak of magic like this in public was a freedom she never had the pleasure of experiencing. And to speak of it with such familiarity and knowledge… she was impressed.
“Ah, my expertise is also… in other areas,” Arabelle managed. These people must be witches then, but the way Mia said magic was being used here was unlike anything she’d heard before. “Thanks, by the way. Quite informative.”

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"No problem." Mia tilted her head, noticing that Arabelle seemed surprised but not quite getting why. Maybe she was a human that hadn't heard of magic? No, that didn't make sense. She'd been clearly checking out the gate's aura earlier. Oh well, maybe she was just imagining things.
"'Other things'?" she prompted curiously. "Such as…..?" She figured the broader their group's skillset, the better.

@Tired-but-passionate

“Blood magic and spells, how magic flows through the body, and how magic interacts with genetics are some of the most familiar to me,” Arabelle said, nearly breathing a sigh of relief and becoming much more comfortable with Mia. And she was always happy to talk about subjects she was interested in.
Her eyes twinkled a bit, and her shoulders relaxed as she internally prepared to ramble, nearly forgetting their current situation.
“And you?”

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(ahaha yeah sorry, I figure we'll follow soon X'D)
Mie raised an eyebrow, leaning against the stone gatepost. "Blood magic, huh? I've never heard of that….but maybe it goes by a different name where I'm from. Personally, I know and handle Avity. It's….a certain kind of energy, I guess? We mostly use it for healing and stuff. My species adheres to it naturally, although I was never the most powerful member of my family." Rubbing the back of her neck, she turned to eye their surroundings once again. "Maybe later we can talk more about each other's magic, yeah? Once we've got our feet under us a bit?"

@Tired-but-passionate

“Ah, right.” Thought she was slightly disappointed, Arabelle knew Mia was being the voice of reason here. Still, her words left a print of confusion in her brain. Avity?
Species? Energy? These weren’t the terms she’d associate with a conversation about magic, at least, if you wanted to be scientifically accurate.
Her train of thought changed direction. She’s come back to it later. First, where was he…?
She searched the trees again, seeing if she could spot the glint of red scales. Nothing. She sighed, getting nervous again. She hoped he was okay…
Turning back to Mia, she chuckled. “Too bad, now I have a thousand questions. But yeah, we can talk later.”

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Don't worry, I have plenty of questions too," Mia promised. "I'm sure we'll get a chance to talk shop about magic sooner or later. In the meantime….." She bent down and helped Ariel to her feet. "I reckon we won't learn much by standing around out here. I say we give these other fine people five more minutes to wake up, then go try to catch up with Azami. Fair enough?"
(I actually gotta go to bed now, sorry I was gone for so long there)

@Tired-but-passionate

(It’s fine :)

Arabelle sighed. Guess they were going in. “Might as well.”
Shivering slightly, she opted to heat her clothes up. Her gazed dropped as she began concentrating on the molecules making up the fabric, willing them to move faster. Once she’d gotten it to a comfortable temperature, she looked up at the other woman, who seemed slightly dazed. “Sorry about that, what’s your name?”

His heart thumping in his ears and his cold blood slowly slithering through his veins, Cass ran through the trees, away from the body of his lover. Covered in blood and pain unimaginable rushing over his body before falling on the ground hard and hitting his head. His vision blurry , yellow eyes glowing in the dark of night as a being hovered over him before everything turned pitch black

Jolting awake and in a cold sweat, Cassius's yellow eyes opened. His face colder than usual on the dirt and rubble below his big body.
Groaning, he sat up and ran his dark fingers through his blonde hair. He already knew something was wrong, for he never slept. And yet here he is wakingnup from what felt like a good 12-14 hours.. He hadnt in about 50 years and the last time that happened it was only for about 30 minutes.
What was that dream? No it wasnt a dream. More….a memory. A terrible one he had gone to forget over these 242 years of his long life.
Looking down at his attire, dirt had lightly coated his white button up shirt and black pants. A golden watch rest on his wrist, looking quite expensive. He took pride in his appearence just as much as he did in his kindness.
But that wasnt the matter now. He slowly looked around, his mind foggy and his vision blurred by a thin layer of tears that hadnt escaped his eyes yet.
Blinking them away, the voices of mutliple females could be heard before he saw a girl in front of him unconsious. (Its my other character, dw im not controlling anyone elses character)
Nudging her softly, she rolled over with a soft expression, still obviously half asleep.

Long wavy black hair fell over her face before sitting up and looking up to a beautiful darker man, his yellow eyes and blonde hair quite the contrast to his dark complexion.
"Are you Tavian?" She asked confused, assuming she had fellen asleep on her journey to deliver a collection of fine blades shes made for a prince on the other side of the country. Her bag still lay on her back, filled with her self made weapons.
"Uhm…no ma'am. Im Cassius Sandoval. Call me Cass. Are you alright?" He asked gesturing to the dry blood on her forhead.
"Oh…uhm…yeah i think so." She says, though sounding more like a question than anything.
"I…dont remember how i got here. Wait wheres Moose?" She asked turning around, looking for her overgrown horse, aka her best friend basically.
"I…. uhm dont know. Are you from here?" Cass asked her softly, a kind aura radiating from him like a light.
"No? What is this place? Where am i?" She asked
Cassius stood, and standing tall to say the least. He looked over to the huddle of girls, realizing he was the only male awake there.
"Do you know where we are?" He asked, clearing his throat, his voice deep yet soft and an accent that sounded something like british but not quite.
