Kaito seemed surprised by the comment, but as he turned around to see that Shuichi's eyes were beginning to open, he realized that it was true. He felt a bit of relief wash over him as he knew that his best friend was finally regaining consciousness. Maybe things would be alright in the end after all.
As Shuichi opened his eyes, he looked around, confused. The last thing that he remembered was being stuck in his execution. The very end of it, his pleas for help as his friend rushed to his side, that was all a blur, and so was everything past that. He didn't really remember all of it, so he was confused about how he was even alive.
"G-guys…?" he asked them weakly. He was still in a lot of pain, and he still didn't have much strength, but he had to call out to them. "I-I'm alive…?"
