Mistkit looked up at the starlit sky for a moment, then padded inside and laid next to Flamekit. She glanced around at anything but the black and white tom, then took a breath, and twined her tail with his again. She held her breath and looked at the ground nervously, expecting him to pull away, but hoping he wouldn't.

Flamekit smiled at Mistkit. He left there tail's twined. He looked around and sighed. He put his head down and closed his eyes. He had enough of his friend's fighting. He didn't want to stand around and do nothing, but then again…He couldn't do anything…at least he had Mistkit by his side.

Mistkit closed her eyes as well, pressing closer to Flamekit as she fell asleep, her flanks rising and falling peacefully.
