Doesn't help that we can be extremely proud creatures. We pride ourselves being close to the natural way of things, as it was the Supreme God of our world who created us dragons to protect itself, the gods and goddesses, and so forth.

Victoria glances at Kilándrè as she walks over whilst holding Axion’s hand.
Beau: Oh, I wish I was alive during those times… it must have been wonderful before all the wars started, no? Angels can be pretty proud and pompous too, but you don't have to worry about me. I'm pretty chill.
Kilándrè: There was no such thing as a time before the wars, child

Rotharre: sees the glint. Makes herself sit on her haunches, resisting her more draconic nature. Looks away, keeping her eyes elsewhere
Ulam: Shiny?
Rotharre: Mutters to Ulam

Ulam: Moves closer, the wyvern-beast's massive wing unfolding from a side, blocking Rotharre's vision
Kilándrè: Victoria, put that away. Now!
Victoria drops her hand and hides it.
“I am not taking the ring off.”
Axion looks at Victoria in awe a bit.
Kilándrè: Then hide it, genius
She glares at Kilándrè as she puts her hand in her pocket. Also unintentionally squeezing Axion’s hand a little to hard to the point that Axion flinched.
Kilándrè: replied with a knowing smile
Ulam: Tail sways back and forth, his massive wing remaining over Rotharre's head
