Basic premise is that gods and fae are one and the same. Zeus, Frigga, Sekhmet, Tian; they are all real, and refer to themselves as fae.

However, they're not all separate beings. Many cultures' lores and descriptions, etc are their interpretations of what they saw of certain individual fae, similar to how Venus & Aphrodite are different names for the same goddess.
