Your face…. You’re new ‘round here, aren’t you?
Well, I like you enough to not make you dance, kid, but this place isn’t for the faint of your little woolen heart. The outlaw life isn’t for everyone.
But, just the same, we’re a family.
You see that man over there? That’s Butch. Has taken three bullets to the body, and is still out here stealin’ with a lick and a promise. The man beside him? Dierks. He’s a stubborn chiseler who can’t seem to end his lasting relationship with each county jail. Somehow, he still slips from the bars, probably using that damned flannel mouth of his. The two fellas beside them are Dodge and Micha, about as ill-tempered as a broom-tail, but clever nonetheless.
There are many of us, all carrying the gang name high. You wish to become a Longhorn? Well, let me explain something to you.
My name is Silkwick Wolfheart. Known as a curly wolf and an odd stick, but I’ll die standing up. Now, I don’t want to be barkin’ at a knot here, so I need you to ask yourself this…
If you wanna join us, and you think you can quirley…
You’re gonna have to handle me first.

That was probably very confusing. My apologies. But, for that, I shall explain:

I basically really wanted an outlaw/gang/Wild West romance rp, because I couldn’t seem to find any around here. My whole prompt idea was that your character wanted to join an outlaw refuge gang called the Longhorns (although their motivation would be yours to decide), and my character is the leader of it. I’d like it to be a romance, any pairing is alright, and probably will contain a whole lot of comedy. We’ll see where that goes :D Also— do not worry about being historically accurate! It will take place in the 1890’s, but minimal imperfections are totally fine.

Rules:

  • Be relatively active pls :3
  • Rated whatever is fine (for language, actions, etc) / whatever you’re comfortable with
  • 3+ sentences, pls
  • GrAMmaR
  • No controlling someone else’s character
  • We can chill in pm’s if we need to
  • No OP pls. Or maybe yes OP. Depends

I’ll get the character temps up once someone joins :)

@LittleRiver local_movies

Full Name: Flynn Scotts
Nicknames/Aliases: Goes strictly by Silkwik Wolfheart. Very few know his real name, and usually just call him Silk.
Age: 22
Gender: Male h/h
Occupation: Thief / Bandit / Leader of the Longhorns

Personality: A very tricky guy, usually speaking more with his actions than his words. He likes to play with people, and loves seeing them off their guard. Very flirtatious and speaks in fluent slang and sarcasm. He has a very defensive outside demeanor, but underneath, he is essentially a glass cannon. He cares deeply about his “brothers and sisters,” seeing all of his allies as family and someone to protect. Although he can seem really lax and careless, he will absolutely risk his life for anyone that needs saving. He is a soldier through and through, trying his best to keep his people safe. Although, if you’re the one causing the trouble, he can switch in an instant and take. you. down. He can fulfill every single threat he dishes out, and many people know it.
Mannerisms: Cocks his head if he’s challenging someone / carries a very prideful posture
Hobbies: Kicking around an old can with the gang / singing and playing music / hanging out and talking with the gang

Physical Appearance: Looks something like this or this. Silk stands at about 6’0” and is quite lanky. He has a crooked yet charming smile, a dimple on only one side of his face. His eyes are a deep brown and his hair is a rusted dirty blonde. His facial hair is sort of less taken care of than in the pictures, more rough but it’s clear he puts effort into it. His skin is much tanner and his hands are extremely worn. He has scars around his body but wears them proudly, one of the most prominent ones being a cut down the left side of his mouth. It spans from his bottom lip down to his chin. Silk’s body is more lithe, holding a leaner structure.
Normal Attire / Gear: That standard cowboy attire. He loves those ominous coats and has a holster on either side of his waist, holding two black powder rusted barrel revolvers. He carries his ammo around his belt as well, and a few knives. He has one knife in his boot, another on a strap around his leg, and a third in his belt, pressed against his back, usually hidden by his coat. Otherwise, in his downtime, Silk just wears tough shirts and trousers, as well as heavy boots and spurs.

Backstory: tbd mostly. Silk is the “founder” of the Longhorns, taking together a group of riffraff of all ages and making a small community. A common misconception is that everyone in the gang is bad. That is actually entirely false. They just do what they can to get by, and don’t have malintentions at all. They care for one another deeply, all acting as family.
Family: The gang, and that’s about it.
Other: Has a horse he always refers to as a “crowbait bangtail,” meaning it’s “of poor quality and wild.” Although the horse is just quick to anger and very stubborn. His name is Bear and he’s a Clydesdale paint, who looks a little something like this. The horse was originally training to become a carriage horse, but Silk stole him at a young age, and raised him as his own.

@gracehustle

(I'll get my character up as soon as I can! Would it make more sense if they're male or female? I'm not sure what the makeup of the groups is)

@gracehustle

Full Name: Jasper Barean
Nicknames/Aliases: Jas or thief are his preferred names, but it's not uncommon for someone to call him kid. Only a few people use his full name
Age: 20
Gender: male he/him
Occupation: General troublemaker/thief

Personality: to be brief, Jasper is a child trapped in an adults body. He flirts shamelessly, goofs off way too much and doesn't seem to take life seriously. The only times he's serious is when he's mad, when he's 'working' or when the situation absolutely calls for it. Loves to see just how far he can push someone's temper (Which normally leads to a fight or him running) Smartass to the core. More to be revealed
Mannerisms: almost always doing something with his hands, wether it's spinning a coin in his fingers or pulling apart his gun or even just tapping out a tune/ grins or smirks when flirting or when making bets/ clenches his jaw when angry
Hobbies:dancing (rarely in front of others), singing using his horrible voice, making bets and acting like an absolute little shit

Physical Appearance: Jas looks a bit like this though his hair is a tad shorter. He has longer chocolate brown hair that would fall at just about his nose if combed straight down. His eyes are the same chocolate brown color and his skin is barely tan. He stands at about 5'11" and isn't super lean, but he's not a muscled jock either. Calloused but quick hands and a fairly constant grin as well as a clean shaven face. At most he has light stubble at anytime, very rarely anything that would resemble a beard.
Normal Attire / Gear: Usually one of a few thick worn flannel shirts, and tough pants as well as his prized boots. He only carries one rusty silver revolver on him and a knife, both of which stay in their holster and case on his belt.

Backstory: He doesn't like to share and it takes a fair amount of alcohol and digging to get him to bring up anything. The jist of it though is that he left two years ago when his father started pressuring him to marry a girl and make a life for himself. Searching for something more than marriage and a dull life, he made his way west, and after catching wind of the gang, he decided that was the life he wanted. Anything about his younger years is sealed away behind the alcohol wall but it was where he honed his pickpocketing and thievery skills.
Family: His older sister, mother, and father as well as two younger sisters, all of who live almost as far away as he can get. Specifically on the east coast.
Other: Has an accent that clearly isn't from the west but isn't quite east coast anymore
(Whaddya think?)

@LittleRiver local_movies

(omg I absolutely love him!! He and Silk are so gonna butt heads but Silk does love a dude that can match his wit. I’m gonna be out for just a little while but I can get a starter up when I get back!)

(Alrighty, here we go!)

Bear trotted along the trail, Silkwik mounted elegantly atop the large horse. The pines caught the sun, only letting a few warm orange rays through and onto the partially snowy ground. Small needles peeked through, as well as diminutive bushes and larger rocks. It was newly winter, so surely the snow would be stacking upon the ground quickly. Luckily, the gang was only staying here for a night before they continued their movements southwest.
Although Silk could see his breath in the air, his body was warm. Blankets cascaded along the back of Bear, along with various packs filled with supplies. Some of which had been stolen, and many of which had actually been bought.
Silk didn’t normally travel alone, but he wanted to keep the majority of the gang at the camp for the time being. He wanted everyone in one place, especially because they were near the railroad, an area known for its trouble. Although, they couldn’t have traveled any farther that day. As the sun sank lower, everyone grew more and more exhausted.
Bear finally turned the corner, off the path, and weaved throughout the woods until he arrived at what looked to be a camp. A larger older man looked up from his work, his black hair specked with grey and his eyes tired. He gave a small wave, then turned back to tending to his fire.
Silk hopped down from Bear, stroking the horse’s muzzle before taking off the blankets. A few other men, along with a woman, greeted Silk back and helped him with the packs.
Silk walked over to one of the tables, boots crunching the old snow. His skin was alight with the sun’s orange rays, his eyes shining brilliantly as they gazed over his camp.
He had so much more work to do before they got on the road again tomorrow morning.

@gracehustle

Jas was frozen like a popsicle even as he poked at his small fire and his breath was clear in the air. He had set up a hasty camp a fair way away from town, just enough for him to rest for the night but he was regretting his decision not to stay in town immensely. He shivered again, pulling his blanket further around his shoulders while he watched the flames flicker and dance.
His camp wasn't much more than the fire and a log propped next to it that he sat on, bag tucked next to him. It was small, perfect for one person. Not that he enjoyed traveling alone. He had a mission though, and finding the elusive gang he was searching for meant he had to travel alone. The Longhorns seemed to travel often, never staying in the same place, and often he seemed to be right behind them, just missing them.
They were talked about in towns, and from what he concluded, they were heading south at the moment. All he hoped was that he had guessed their next target correctly. This had to be where they would turn up. And when they did, he was going to join their gang. One way or another.
He shivered again, tossing a dry log on the fire. There wasn't much dry wood around, but it was enough, and he was almost worried the fire was going to be too visible.

@LittleRiver local_movies

“‘s that all?” a gruff voice asked once Silk had set down the blankets. The man turned his head to see the one who had waved. Butch, his name was.
“No, there’s still a few things I have to go back for. I didn’t want to put too much strain on Bear. With all the blankets, didn’t wanna bake ‘em,” Silk replied, folding over one of the edges on the crate so the fabric wouldn’t soak in the minimal snow.
Butch let out a huff, wiping his brow with a gloved hand and setting down the stick he had been prying the fire with. “‘n that’s why you take someone with ya, Wolfheart. Or you just accept the fact that Bear can handle it.”
Silk sighed, brushing the air from his eyes and watching as his breath coiled through the evening air.
“Listen, Butch, it is what it is. Better safe than sorry,” he uttered, turning back and taking up Bear’s reigns. “He’s thick-headed, but he’s a special one.”
“Mm,” Butch grunted, flicking his eyes back to the fire. “Fine. Just be back before sunfall.”
“It won’t take us long, don’t worry,” Silkwik replied, already stepping up into one of the stirrups. He hoisted himself atop the saddle, Bear prancing anxiously to get going once more. Without another word, Silk dug in his spurs, Bear responding with a sharp turn back down the path they had come.
Silk put the reigns down, holding his hands up to his mouth and trying to warm them, He kept his head on a swivel, checking for any sign of people. The rest of the supplies were hidden a little ways up— mostly just ammunition and extra medicinal supplies.
Suddenly, his heart stopped, as his eyes rested upon another figure. It looked to be a man, just roughly younger and shorter. He sat around a pitiful excuse of a camp, looking frozen to the bone.
Silk kept Bear at a steady pace, lucky that he was far enough out to not draw attention to himself. But as he kept his eyes on the shivering man, and in an impulsive moment, he tugged on the reigns, having Bear take a detour through the brush.
“Hey, kid!” he called out, praying there weren’t more of them. He slowly let a hand fall to his side, near one of his holsters. He just hoped he wouldn’t have to pull his gun.
“What bring you so far out here?” he asked, Bear still ambling closer.

@gracehustle

It was hard to do more than shiver and watch the fire as Jas sat, his mind drifting off to memories and thoughts. He picked at the calloused skin on his hand while staring at the fire, almost statue-like besides his obvious shivering.
This wasn't as bad as the start of the winter back home. This was pitiful compared to that, but after roughly a year and a half out here, this was cold. He could almost hear his older sister's playful taunts telling him he was a chicken. She could handle four feet of ice-cold snow without hesitation, and this would be pathetic to her, barely enough snow to cover the ground. At least if she was sitting next to him he would have someone to talk to. But she wasn't a fan of staying outside at all.
Jas shivered again, cupping his hands around his mouth and blowing all the hot air he could spare into them. It was colder than death out here.
Once again he slipped into his thoughts, his head snapping to the side when he heard something similar to large footsteps. Almost instantly his hand was on his gun when his eyes fell on a large horse…rode by a male that looked almost intimidating as the horse.
"I could ask you the same," Jas replied, watching the pair with a steady gaze.

@LittleRiver local_movies

Silk let out a laugh— a dry, raspy laugh that left his eyes sparkling in the dim light.
“Ahhh, I like you,” he said slowly, tugging on Bear’s reigns for him to stop. The horse did as he was told, but proceeded to stomp at the ground impatiently.
“You’ve got some fire ‘n your words,” Silk continued, gaze wandering elsewhere as he spoke. Even so, he kept all of his attention locked on the man before him. “What’s your name, Lion?”
Of course, Silk already had a nickname ready to go. The questionable heat in the other man’s demeanor immediately screamed some kind of authority, so ‘Lion’ seemed like the best fit. Even if he was giving a little too much credit, considering he had just met the other.
Just as well, Silk was never a fan of pleasantries. In fact, he was already going over the repercussions of inviting this shifty fellow back to his camp. He was just one man— what harm could he really do? Up against people like Butch, Silk himself, Dierks, the multitude of others…
And, with the chance that the coin landed on the bright side, Silk could earn the Longhorns a new member.

@gracehustle

Jas studied the male as his horse stopped, already a tiny grin worming its way onto his face as he replied and introduced himself, "Better in my words than gone in this cold. Jasper Barean, at your service. Who might you be?"
It was a foolish decision to trust this man enough to tell him his name, but what was the worst that could happen? He seemed alone. Though he was most likely armed even more than Jas himself was. At worse, this man would hold him at gunpoint, take all his stuff, and leave him for dead. At best he may know something about the Longhorns. Maybe where to find them even.
Jas shivered again, pulling his semi-discarded blanket back over his flannel.
On the flip side, maybe he could be the one doing the stealing. A horse, possibly more guns, maybe supplies. All sounded quite nice to him and all would be quite useful the further into winter it would get. It seemed stupid to even give it a shot though, with the advantage the other male had with his horse. Jas' best bet was going to be to strike up a conversation and see where it went.

@LittleRiver local_movies

“Jasper,” Silk repeated, voice hitching when he moved and slid down from his horse. In a futile attempt to be friendly, he held out his hand. “Pleasure to meet you, Barean.”
Silk didn’t bother to hold onto Bear’s reigns any longer, and just gave the animal a small nod as it wandered to a small patch of grass nearby, bright green blades poking through the frost. Silk seemed oddly relaxed for being in the presence of an odd man in the forest, but he had met so many outcasts in his life, he knew one when he saw one.
“Ah, my name? Well, I don’t want to give you too much information upfront,” he wondered aloud. “Because I always love seeing people’s faces when I tell them. I always want to savor the mystery, y’know?”
His eyes wandered back down to Jasper, and he couldn’t help but smile. It was crooked but oddly charming— or so he had been told.
“But I suppose I’ll satiate your curiosity,” he scoffed, voice as airy as a hum. “The name’s Silkwick. Silkwick Wolfheart.”
He always got a little spark of joy at saying his name— mostly because he knew people knew it, and he was proud of the Longhorns. It was like a title, of king or queen, showing authority right off the bat.
