Noah and his family recently moved to the town of Seabury, Maine. The town has old roots, from before the revolution. A few miles outside of town, there is an old asylum, called "A G Darlington's Asylum for the Clinically Insane", from the 1800's and early 1900's. It was shut down in 1925, and has not been used since then. Inside there are still old beds, old cell rooms and files. Everything was left behind when the asylum was shut down.

Some whisper that it was shut down because the patients rioted against cruel treatments. Some say that there are bodies hidden in the asylum.

Teenagers have, for years, dared each other to explore the crumbling old asylum, laughing at each other when someone is inevitably scared out of their wits.

Some whisper that it's haunted, that on certain nights you can see shapes in the windows, hear the screams of the patients who were tortured in search of a cure to their supposed lunacy.

Noah has always had an interest in the supernatural, and is intensely curious about Darlington's Asylum. And so one night, armed with his cell phone, he sets out to the Asylum.

There, he finds what he had always hoped to be real but never dared to believe could be.

A ghost.

Or at least, that's what he thinks it is. He can only catch it from the corner of his eye; a thin, pale shape that vanishes as soon as he turns towards it. Soft whispers and faint cries follow him through the asylum, past rooms with old beds and surgery tools, old cells from where inmates were locked up to scream and succumb to a deep and terrible madness.

Noah goes deeper and deeper into the asylum, chasing the thing he can only see in glimpses, his phone on and recording each step as he tries to catch it in the lens, tries to get even a scrap of video.

Finally, in one room, the thing stops flickering and moving, and he sees it, the only source of light in a room that is otherwise dark, other than the flashlight he himself carries.

The ghost is another boy, who must be about the same age that Noah is. Or, at least, the ghost was when he died.

The ghost looks almost real, almost alive. The only sign that he isn't is the way his skull is faintly visible beneath his pale skin, and the way he glows just a little in the darkness of the room.

Noah asks for the ghost boy's name, and the ghost whispers "Bailey". When the whisper fades, so does the ghost boy, leaving no trace behind.

So basically, kind of a creepy, horror-ish RP? And maybe romance between Bailey and Noah, eventually? I'll be Bailey, you'll be Noah. Noah is just a stand-in name, and you can change it if you like. Noah should preferably be a junior or senior in high school.

Rules:

  • andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s rules apply
  • this will likely contain some dark stuff, so be aware
  • I'd prefer an experienced partner
  • no one liners
  • I reserve the right to say no

(here's the character template, btw. Sorry for taking so long)

Name: Bailey Jones
Gender: Male
Age: looks 17 or 18; is actually about 170 years old (he was born in 1852, died in 1860)
Looks: About 5'7", with very pale skin. He has light blond hair, that is a bit shaggy. His hair is straight, without any curl to it. He has pale blue eyes that look nearly white than blue. His clothes are ragged, a medium, cool grey color that has faded with time to a worn, pale grey, giving his entire form an almost washed out, faded appearance. His skull is almost visible beneath his skin, like an iridescent sheen that can just barely be glimpsed when he turns the right way. It's the same with the rest of his body, the bones barely visible at certain times.
Backstory: Bailey was born in 1852. He had two older brothers, and later two sisters were born. As he grew up, his brothers bullied him nearly constantly, since he was the smallest of the three. He suffered from epilepsy and hallucinations, and for those his family shunned him and hated him. At 12, he started to discover that he was different from others in another way: he was not attracted to women, but to men. To other boys. When his father figured it out, he sent Bailey to Darlington's. Bailey was 14 at the time, and lived in the asylum for 4 years before he took his own life. He has haunted Darlington's ever since, and is one of the older ghosts there (older as in when they died, not by age).
