@Oakiin

(yay!!! I'll be back in a bit/tomorrow to work out details! It's pretty late for me rn >w< If you wanna post a writing example, go ahead, but you should be fine, I'm Young Dusty's sibling, and they said you were cool, so you're in ^^)

@Oakiin

(ofc <3)
So personally, I didn't really have many specifics in mind, I just knew I wanted my character to be heavily damaged, but not destroyed, still trying to overcome, and a lil confused as to why they don't like/are scared of some of the things they used to be just fine with.
You pretty much can have your character play whatever role you want, your chara can be someone who went through something similar/the same events, someone trying to help, someone entirely not interested, whatever you feel like playing. And if you have any ideas you wanna bring to the table, please do!

@Calanthe

Okay, I had a really good character that would work perfectly for this group. But he's currently being stored on my friend's computer, if you don't mind waiting a little bit for me to get him back, I could then post him.

@Calanthe

Name: Cayenne "Cai" {pronounced as Kai} Forrest
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Appearance/Faceclaim: Hunter Johansson

Personality: Cayenne, in contrary to his name, is sweet and kind, and usually goes out of his way to help others. He is pretty shy and doesn't really like to open up unless someone probes him to do so. He is not very vocal with strangers, but with people that he knows, Cayenne will be more comfortable and outspoken. He only gets angry when he sees injustice, but even then he won't confront anyone directly and will try his best to help sort the problems out in a relatively passive manner.

History: I'll add this in later since it got lost in the mix of this.

Species: Human

Likes: Cayenne likes the basking in, and just generally the sun, being surrounded by the scent of trees and nature, music, the colour teal, drinking hot tea; and many more

Dislikes: He dislikes certain personalities that are arrogant, entitled, clingy, and for more tangible things - coriander, environmental pollution, the darkness

Trivia (pets, sexuality, twins, etc.):

  • He has a twin sister, Chryseis Forrest; ((she really isn't going to be in this rp too much))
  • Cayenne is a closeted bisexual

@Oakiin

Ooohhhh, I like!!! I'm getting excited already :D

Here's m'boi

Name: Arlath
Age: 46
Gender: Male

Physical description: He's tall, and built like a tank. He's got white hair and pale gold eyes, one of which is blinded by a long scar over it. He's got many scars, but when asked, he's casual about them, they're nothing more than marks of age and experience to him. He's got a short beard and his head's mostly shaved except for one stripe of fairly short hair down the middle. It's fairly clear his family comes from a different country, given his name, but he's never said where's he's from. Even though he's only in his 40's, he looked worn and older than he is.

Personality: Arlath is quiet, but friendly. He's been through a lot, and it shows, but he tries to keep his head up, looking forward no matter what. He's tough and a bit overprotective of his people, especially younger ones. Between that and his natural tendency to slip into a leadership position, he can be a little overbearing sometimes, and he can get frustrated when he can't help the people he loves. He's kind and always on the look out for how he can help his family. Though rarely talking about himself or his past, he's honest and open with those around him, not afraid to say when a subject is making him uncomfortable. He's wary of new people, but not unfriendly, and doesn't like being touched. Really hates it actually. He can't really explain why, which also frustrates him, since he's equally touch starved and lonely. But also he's not enthusiastic about the idea of making deep connections. Burned twice and all that. But he's very gentle and kind, always willing to reach out to anyone else having a hard time.

History: Long, and largely never spoken of. He may let bits and pieces slip. If he really lets his guard down.

Species: tbh I haven't decided if he gonna be human or his og species, we'll hafta see For now, assume he's seen as human.

Likes: He likes people, he loooooves kids, physical activity, animals, reading, etc. He likes being outside, and enjoys gardening. He likes history and mythology, and is forever getting books about various cultures to study them. He's a nerd, is basically what I'm saying. He enjoys tabletop gaming as well.

Dislikes: Being alone. He can handle it, and will, but he's a people person at heart, and gets lonely easily. He dislikes people treating each other unfairly, dislikes arguments of any sort, (has a hard time dealing with joking arguments as well), and HATES liars. And if you treat kids badly, especially if you're their parent, he is coming for you. He knows where you live.
If you try to manipulate him or lie to him, you will at VERY least, be getting an earful. Also cooking. He's terrible at it, and he thinks it's annoying.

Trivia:

  • He's gonna be having arthritis problems sooner rather than later here. He ain't very old really, but he's had a life that's put a LOT of stress on his body. And that's going to cause problems.
  • He doesn't seem to have any family or friends, though he lives in a pretty nice house.
  • it's implied that he's ex-military of some sort, but he doesn't talk about it.

@Oakiin

:D :D
yay!
Got any ideas of how we meet? my character's living a very quiet, socially secluded life in some semi-rich suburb somewhere, where's Cai?

@Calanthe

In my opinion, Cai is a bit of a city person, so he's living a bit of a party life, or well, being dragged along to parties by his sister. He'd much rather be staying in his loft with a good book and his cats. Maybe, I don't know at a library?

@Oakiin

Yeah! That could be perfect, actually, Arlath would definitely frequent libraries.
Do you wanna start? Arlath could already be there, just reading quietly in a corner or smth

@Calanthe

Ooh, yes, that'd be fun, I really don't have any ideas for starting at the moment, I'm thinking that Cai would be probably shelving some books or something and sort like run into Arlath?

@Calanthe

(Okay, I can start it)

Cai had gotten to the library a little later than normal, and they hoped their boss wouldn't mind, he had already texted one of his co-workers, so they covered for his story-time with the kids. But he hoped that he wouldn't be in too much trouble. The second he stepped inside his boss, Erika, came running at him, with a deadly look on her face, "You're shelving today Cai, and if you're late again, you don't want to know what will happen." And with that she walked off, leaving Cai slightly bewildered and a bit shocked, he walked over to the shelving carts, grabbed one and set to work, "If it's a shelver she wants, she'll get one." He muttered to himself as he headed towards the historical fiction section. The first book he had, after he finished grouping them in alphabetical order was supposed to be all the way at the end of the section, near the back wall. Grumbling he pushed the heavy cart in it's direction, nearly crushing a man's legs. "Sorry." He mumbled as he continued to push the cart.

@Oakiin

Arlath hadn't noticed anyone approaching, lost in his read. Startled by the sudden appearance of the younger man, he almost dropped his book. He drew back, trying to make room for him to pass.
"No, no," he said, stumbling over his words slightly, still a little caught off guard. "I'm in your way."

@Calanthe

" N-no, you weren't, it's fine. Don't worry about it. I should have been more careful."Cai sighed softly, "If you want to complain about me to my boss that's fine, my name is Cayenne, like the spice and spelled the same. It's fine, I get it. Alright?" Cai sighed as he pushed his cart along, "And I hope I didn't hurt you." He finally made it over to the bookshelves and began to shelf the books, " Gosh, I am an idiot, why did I have to be so clumsy?" He finished with about two, and then leaned against the cart, "I hate myself."

@Oakiin

Arlath hesitated, a little taken aback, and unsure what to do. His automatic instinct was to reach out to the kid, he was clearly not doing great, but a feeling of slight nervousness held him back.
Never used to have these problems, he mentally berated himself, and set down his book quietly, looking over at Cayenne.
"Hey," he called, trying to keep his voice low. This was a library after all. "Are you okay? I'm not mad, it's totally fine, could happen to anyone."

@Calanthe

"Oh, I'm alright," Cai softly called back, "Just a long day, sorry again." Cayenne poked his head around the corner, "I probably should be asking you that though. It hurts to get hit by one of those, and probably even more when you get nearly run over by one." He sighed and shelved a few more books, "And again, I am sooooo sorry, I don't want to hurt anyone, I should have been looking where I was going, or at least, I should have been in the children's library, but I'm not, and I feel like an idiot. So uhm, I am sorry again. . ."

@Oakiin

"No, I'm fine," Arlath said, forcing a smile. "I've had worse."
He hesitated again, wondering if he should inquire further. But his natural tenancy to worry about people won out in the end, and he sighed.
"What's been going on?" he asked. "You seemed pretty upset, disproportionately to the incident. If you don't want to talk about it, it's fine, but…I can listen."

@Calanthe

"I'm fine," Cai called back again, he didn't understand why this guy was asking so many questions. He knew that he was fine, or would be, eventually, "Look, I tend to overreact when I think that I may have hurt someone, so that's all that's going on. If I didn't really hurt, I'm still sorry for sort of hurting you. I just feel bad about that, alright?" He knew that he was tired, but that was about it, "So, please, I'm fine, nothing to talk about or wonder, since I am fine."

@Oakiin

"Okay," Arlath said quietly. "Sorry."
Drawing back into himself, he picked up his book again, staring blankly at the page. That's what you get for sticking your nose in where you aren't wanted, he berated himself. Next time just shut up.
He tried to focus back on the book, but his mind wouldn't let him, and he stared at the page without really seeing it, partly still listening as Cai put away books, partly just blanking out. It was a weird feeling, one he had yet to identify. He didn't like it, but he found it difficult to shake, and it happened more than he would care to admit. Anytime he did something wrong.
