hi, i’m back with another one on one! i tend to burn out of these if i make too many but i’m also craving some sort of like hero/villain thing but more complicated, i guess?

my idea is basically what the title suggests, with two former childhood friends who now find themselves on opposite sides of the power dynamic (hero vs villain) and then eventually fall for each other, but like, slow burn. i don’t want them getting together in the first few pages in this one lol.

as for a rating i’d say maybe pg-16?? there’s gonna be language, possibly gore, obviously romance and stuff but i’m uncomfy with writing sex scenes if that happens we’re just gonna like skip over it lol.

other than that, andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)’s rules and if i haven’t seen your writing i’ll need a sample. so yeah. that’s all i’ve got so far so we can flesh out the idea some more once someone joins.

Adrian took a long glance around the conference room. Light beams from above were radiating at him. Everyone was left to their devices or binders. The only thing that could be heard was the air conditioner and the turning of pages. Here and there you could hear someone murmuring a few words to the person beside them. The seat in which Louis always sat in across from him was empty and so was Mister Alder's. Did something happen?

Still, even with everything being so silent and cool, heat started to flow through his body. Anxiously, he started to tap his left foot while constantly turning to look at the door. Why isn't he coming back? He promised to be here five minutes ago. With a sigh, Adrian shook his head. There is no use in getting this worried right away. He didn't want to be suspicious or give out any hints even though everyone was just preparing themselves for when Mister Alder would come in. Like a prayer being answered, the door opened. Adrian couldn't hold back the need to instantly turn his head over his shoulder to see who it is. And of course, it was Louis.

The expression on his face was the same as always; stone-cold. Whatever is going on in Louis's mind right now isn't showing in any detail. He briefly made eye contact with Adrian giving him a simple nod as a greeting. Ambling over, the assistant stood behind his friend. A small USB slid down from his sleeve into his hand. Without any hesitation, he placed it on Adrian's lap before walking over to his own seat.

It has to be all the secret files that Alder says that have been deleted or impossible to find. The files that show how many plans have gone to waste. The cases which were immediately buried. All the people that mysteriously were fired or disappeared. Most importantly, it's a crucial part of evidence that the two need in order to get anywhere with the accusation.

Squeezing the USB with care, Adrian slipped it in his inner-jacket pocket. An exhale of relief left his lips as he opened the black binder. There were at least forty-seven pages talking about the plan for the next quarter. Nothing in it was of use for him this time, maybe Louis could look into it more but doesn't seem likely there's anything hidden at the moment.

Almost in a heartbeat, did the door open again. Everyone in their seat rose up to greet Mister Alder who had a relaxing grin on his face. Adrian squeezed his right wrist while looking at the boss. Louis just kept his eyes averted away. Alder just gave everyone a smile before motioning for them to sit down. Soon after, he went to sit down at the seat in the front. And so it begins.

Name: Silas Chen
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bi but prefers guys
Appearance: Silas has a mop of thick, raven hair that he never bothers to do anything with, because his hair won't be tidy unless shaves it all off, and he learned after a mishap in middle school that a shaved head is not his best haircut. His hair is just long enough to be considered shaggy, and he can put it in a baby half-ponytail if he wants. Though his ears are partially hidden in the mess of his hair, he has multiple ear piercings and a lip piercing as well. Silas has medium olive-toned skin and brown, almond eyes. He is on the taller side, standing at 5' 11", but has a bit of a slouch. He has a very distinct, lazy, way of moving that suggests he has all the time in the world.
Personality: Silas is quiet, often one to get overlooked, but underestimating him is a danger that few smart people fall prey to. He's shrewd, making quick judgements and observations about people rather than speaking. Because of this, he is a good listener and very astute and observant. He doesn't like spending lots of time with other people, and sometimes doesn't understand people who do. Silas loves learning, and will pore through books or articles like no other. He will soak up knowledge like a sponge and firmly believes in the statement "knowledge is power." He looks to do things smarter, with less effort, being somewhat lazy unless he is truly engrossed in something.
Backstory: Silas had a fairly basic home life, with his father and mother as well as his younger brother, Charlie. Charlie always looked up to Silas, and while sometimes Silas found his brother annoying, it was obvious he loved Charlie. In middle school and the beginning of high school, Silas was training to be a hero, because he wanted to save people. But even in high school, he could see the flaws in the system. His mother and father were both heroes, but his mother got injured on the job and had to quit, living the rest of her life very carefully with help from her sons and husband. Silas's father became more and more manipulative, trying to draw Silas into his vision, but ended up getting Charlie instead. Silas wanted to help his brother but had no clue how. He dreamed of escaping and taking Charlie with him as his household became increasingly toxic and he grew more and more distant from his friends. The catalyst for all of this was when Charlie's middle school was caught in the midst of an attack from a villain, and Charlie was one of the kids taken hostage. Silas wanted to save him but was stopped by his father, who went instead. However, by the time his father got there, Charlie was nearly dead, not getting to the hospital in time to save his life. Silas's resentment for his father only grew, and shortly after the funeral he disappeared, not to be heard from again, until a villain named Phantom began to get infamous for making trouble and being almost vigilante-like a few weeks before this rp takes place.
Hero/villain name: Phantom
Powers and weapons: The ability to move through objects and people by making his body corporeal or not at will. His signature weapon as Phantom is a scythe, but he always has an array of knives and guns on him.
Hero/villain appearance: He wears a black cloak to hide his appearance or keep him warm in colder temperatures. Underneath the cloak, his face is obscured by a black domino mask, and there is now a scar on his chin which he didn't have before he disappeared. He also wears a black skintight long sleeve shirt and matching black pants (which are not skintight). He finishes off the ensemble with black knee-high boots, a chain necklace (because he's a bit of an e-boy lol), and of course his scythe.
Other: Silas talks, walks, and just generally acts like he has all the time in the world, languidly moving about life. He also has always been a bit intense in one-on-one interaction. As a kid, he was known for being a bookworm and not wanting to spend time with other kids in the class when they would all play together, having to be coerced by one of his small group of friends to take part in group actitivies.

Name: Atticus Lee
Age: 18
Gender: Male (He/Him)
Sexuality: Pansexual
Appearance: Atticus stands at 6'2" but typically looks somewhat taller due to his posture; although he keeps his body relaxed when he's alone or very tired. His hair is this shade of brown that always looks black in certain lighting. He prefers to keep it short and to have most of his fluffy hair parted to the left side. The color of his hair clashes with the dark black monolid eyes that he has. A lot of people, including his mom, always says that his eyes are probably his best feature. He has fair skin which gets easily tan when in the sun for a while. Above his collarbone where it meets with the neck is this scar that he had gotten from a car accident.
Personality: Atticus is nothing but sunshine and fists to put it simply. Part of him is very vibrant always waving and saying hi to people, while the other is not afraid to step up and be bold or ready to fight. His heart and fist are the same size after all. He's careful with what he does or says, always trying to plan things out or look at his options. On the other hand, if someone needs help or just wants a hug, Atticus will just dive right in. Helping other people whether it's with a simple task or not always makes him feel like he has purpose. What else would he do? He is not really a person to slouch in his seat or stay in one place, Atticus is always on the go with a motive.
Backstory: Being the youngest out of three is not as bad as some people put it. Atticus was always protected by his family. From the start, Atticus had a pretty normal yet fun childhood. Always spending beside his father or playing with his stuffed bear. When he was twelve years old, he got into a car accident with his father. His dad died and Atticus was pronounced dead for four minutes. In those four minutes, he met one of his ancestors who was a hero a long time ago. He was given the powers he has today that were a gift his ancestor kept till finding out about the uneventful tragedy. Afterwards, he woke up and came back different from before. It was hard for him to move on from that evening but there was only one direction for him to go in, forwards. Atticus started to train in combat and boxing after school while figuring out his special abilities. For a few years, it was difficult to get used to til he decided to start using them for good. At seventeen, Atticus became Adonais only doing simple things at first like stopping robberies, saving people from falling, and so on. Gradually he became more experienced yet caught the attention of the people.
Hero/villain name: Adonais
Powers and weapons: His special powers are enhanced strength and stamina. He also carries a sword with him as well.
Hero/villain appearance: Physically, Adonais is the same as regular Atticus. He wears a black mask that only goes over the top part of his face. Adonais has on a dark red trench coat over his shirt of the same color, a black suit vest, and black long cargo pants. He also has on combat boots as well. Tied around his belt is a sword sheath which holds his sword.
Other: Atticus spends his free time either swimming, boxing, or watching shows. Sometimes he'll go out on a walk if he's bored. He also laughs a lot and his laughter is pretty loud.

Silas waited in the shadows, crouched low as two men approached, talking loudly. The one on the left was of no importance to him, so he hadn't bothered to learn much beyond the basics about him. His name was Nicolas Johnson, and he was friends with the man on the right, Silas's real target: a man named Drew Yakamoto.

As a civilian, Drew wasn't much of a threat, but it was his hero persona that caught Silas's attention. Blaze. That was the fiery hero persona that Drew portrayed on his hero days, and one of the most narcissistic, false heroes Silas had come across yet. This would be his ninth kill, and truly, he was doing humanity a favor. Heroes like Drew wouldn't save anyone, just use their power as an ego booster.

Silas was quick, one second in the shadows and the next second in front of the men. He cleanly cut Drew's head right off, letting Nicolas run away like the coward he was. Silas left behind a jelly-like substance, or "ectoplasm", as he taken to calling it, as his calling card. Phantom's calling card for his now nine superhero kills. Pretty soon those idiots would be catching on to his style.

Silas hurried off before Nicolas could call the caps. Let them come and find Drew here. Silas would be long gone by then. Though he knew it was only a matter of time before the heroes tightened security, looking for him. They were incompetent, but not that incompetent. He was only excited for this; soon he would get to face those miserable bastards in a real challenge. He hurried away from the crime scene, making it back to his hideout before anyone could show up. Next time would be more interesting for sure.

(oh btw you can create as many minor characters–like heroes or civilains or family members or whatever–as you need and control any background character!)

Finding out about a dangerous situation or attack is relatively easy for Atticus. Most nights he just sits in his bedroom desk waiting for someone to post something or for his emergency phone to light up. This time, he felt a hit to his chest though. It was like a spirit sent him the distress call. In an instant, Atticus turned into Adonais, got on his motorbike, and sped to the location.

Too late. As he walked onto the scene, it appeared that the murderer had fled. All he could see was a head completely separated from the body. It was not long for Atticus to figure out that it was Drew Yakamoto, more commonly known as Blaze, the superhero with pyrokinesis and the ninth to have mysteriously fallen in the last two months.

Damn it, he's missed another one again. How? Everything about the scene and how the head was cut looked exactly the same from last time. Even the location had similarities with the last one. Without a doubt it is the serial killer or the Swinging Serial Killer, as the feds and city police call him. Sirens began to blare in the background getting louder by the second.

Atticus tried to briefly examine the scene without getting any blood on him. The smell of iron was everywhere as blood was still pouring out. Just inhaling it for a second was intoxicating. Wiping a tear from under his mask, his eyes gazed upon something black. He knelt down on one knee to get a better look. Whatever the substance was, it stood out from the pool of blood. Carefully, he pulled out his emergency phone to take a picture of it and the crime scene.

After getting back up, he searched through his gallery to see the other pictures. The substance is the same just like the others. Same color, same texture. Exhaling, Atticus put the phone away then glimpsed over ahead. Maybe he went that direction…. Police sirens were just a few feet away. Shaking his head, he pulled out his sword then bolted ahead.

@MusicElle-is-here

Silas turned on the news as he sat on a dusty old couch in his lair, as he'd taken to calling it. If the media was going to call him a villain, why not embrace that persona wholeheartedly? At least he wasn't pretending to be a hero like that miserable sack of human, Blaze. Seriously, the people of Nova City should send him a thank you card. Oh well. He grinned at the footage of police locating his latest kill, looking as puzzled as ever. Idiots.

As he watched, something caught Silas's eye. A hero, not in frame much, because he looked to be in constant motion. At first Silas brushed him off as another newbie dumbass, eager to find who they called "the Swinging Serial Killer." The title had a nice ring to it, but Silas much preferred Phantom. Maybe he would have to leave a note with the next victim. Or he could try introducing himself to one of those pathetic heroes–if they ever caught up to him. No, he was being cocky. They'd surely catch up to him at one point, but all Silas had to do was have a plan and stay two steps ahead of the heroes. It was his specialty to do so.

Silas found his eyes returning to the hero again, trying to think about what he knew about the man. Not much, but the man looked to be close to Silas's own age, practically a boy. A boy playing dress up, he mused with a snort. But wait…there was something vaguely familiar about the boy's movements. Silas couldn't quite place the character, but he made a note to do research on this particular hero later. Then the hero left the scene, and Silas couldn't see any more of him. Presumably to go hunt him down. He wouldn't be the first to try. Hah.

Silas doubted that the boy would find him so soon, but he had big plans for later tonight. He was going to lure them to him, and so had everything mostly ready for that. His next kill was going to be Naomi Rodriguez, or Fantasia. Her power was more flashy than actually damage-dealing, just like her. She was known for being an actress and catering to her fans. What a phony. But when he killed her, he would make sure to be just a little sloppy, just enough for one or maybe two heroes to catch up to him, or at least to think they had. Then the chase would begin. His blood already sang with excitement. This would be fun.

@knightinadream group

He'll catch this villain, one way or another. Atticus cannot stand by and see another superhero let alone a person be killed then for the guy to get away with it. This will be a burden that will weigh down his soul for eternity. Images from the murders kept appearing inside his mind every other second. Who could do such a thing?

Atticus prowled around the lower parts of the waterfront. Abandoned buildings were everywhere here. No one wonder why the killer can get away so quickly and so easily, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. The time was roughly around nine-thirty, if he was right, that would leave him at least an hour till the next potential murder. Whoever this killer has been killing two heroes in one night every other Friday. A lot of crimes happen in Nova City on Friday nights, so finding the culprit is difficult. At this rate, Adonais could end up being one of the last heroes in this city.

Again he pulled out the emergency phone only to go on this app called 'Super Watch'. A lot of people here use it posting about heroes and villains, distress calls, and any other bits of information. Citizens were already posting about Blaze which made him shake his head again. Scrolling down, there was a picture of some sort of villain in a black cloak; he took a screenshot. Atticus sighed as he pressed the button to make a post warning about another crime then slid the phone in his under-coat pocket.

Making sound was something that he always was weary of. Though it does become helpful in certain situations, doing so now could lead to Atticus's own demise. He is not so sure what the exact pattern of the victims' is, but they all are heroes, and so is he. While he began to run around looking into buildings, Atticus began to whistle a song he had learned in elementary school. Not too loud to cause commotion, yet hopefully just loud enough to stir curiosity.

@MusicElle-is-here

Finding Fantasia was much harder than finding Blaze, but Silas had never been one to back down from a challenge. In the end, he was able to get into the wifi at the cafe Fantasia had been at earlier, seeing from her text messages and she was doing on a date at a nice restaurant. Now, that was not a place he could just stroll in with his full Phantom regalia, but if he went as a civilian and got noticed it would really throw a wrench in his plans. So he ended up on the top of a nearby building that had a good vantage point, waiting until Fantasia and her date had finished eating.

It was almost nine-thirty exactly when they left the restaurant, perfect for both Silas's own sense of circularity and for potential heroes wanting to find him. Like the other times, he waited until they passed a dark alley to jump out and materialize, killing Fantasia before she could think to stun him. So predictable, those heroes. Even when Silas was trying to be predictable they still couldn't seem to grasp it. Unlike the others, Fantasia's date began to put up a fight, taking pepper spray out of her purse.

"A brave one, huh? You think that shit is going to do anything against me?" Silas taunted, going immaterial as the girl used her pepper spray and then going in for the kill. "Such a shame, ruining my perfect record. Now that's herosim. Too bad she fought back." He stood near his kills for a moment before stretching and heading off. But this time, he specifically didn't go far and left bits of evidence for those who would know how to look. Just enough for one hero, believing they could be a match for him, to follow and find what they were looking for.

@knightinadream group

In an instant, the phone vibrated two beats per second. The vibration startled Atticus which lead him to bring up his sword in front of him. Wasn't long for the realization to settle in. All the hyperactivity and determination in him faded away. Late again, for the tenth time in a row. Out of anger and frustration, he threw down the sword and yelled. "WHY?", he screamed,"I CAN'T BELIEVE A MONSTER LIKE YOU KEEPS BREAKING MY HEART!"

He collapsed on his knees staring dully at the night sky above. Warm tears ran down his face. This should not have happened. If he could just find a way to outsmart this killer or figure out who the next potential victim is, maybe he'd have a chance with getting them. Atticus did not bother pulling out the emergency phone at all. The lost heroes' faces will be on the TV screen in the morning when he goes out to get breakfast.

Speaking of home, his mom is probably going to freak out if he isn't home in the next hour. She has no idea about Adonais at all; these killings just make her very anxious every time he says he has to leave. Taking a deep breath, he punched the side of a building. A small crack appeared causing some little fragments of brick to fall out. Atticus exhaled again as he shook his sword off and sheathed it. Nothing else will happen tonight, nothing that will need him to be in this uniform again.

Walking back close to the previous murder scene felt like someone was stabbing him in the side with a knife. Only a few cops and detectives were still there, the others probably had to run over the next one. Atticus did what he could avoiding coming across anyone. His mask was still on, yet the darkness of the night helped him. As he approached the place again, he froze to take another glimpse around. "Damn it", he mumbled to himself before heading back to his motorbike.

@MusicElle-is-here

Silas watched from his nearby post, almost annoyed that no one had seen him lurking nearby. He hadn't made it obvious he was there, but it was much more clear than usual. Even someone with a mediocre amount of skill should be able to find him, or maybe he was just overestimating the heroes. He sighed. If they were better at their jobs, maybe Charlie would still be alive right now. He shook off the thought, the searing anger cutting through his comfortable numbness for just a moment.

Then he noticed the hero from earlier that day. Hmm, why not just take a gamble and reveal himself? His power made it simple for him to vanish in a pinch, but he didn't want to give too much away just yet. He wanted to get rid of the heroes, or at least the hypocritical, incompetent ones, and part of that game was making them think they were onto him while he stayed two steps ahead.

Silas strolled to the edge of the roof, sitting down and dangling his feet off. He was far enough away to get caught by the cameras, but close enough that the hero could probably see him from his motorbike if he tried. If not, well, Silas supposed he could make a dramatic entrance. Why this hero? Well, something about him seemed nice, and almost familiar. Silas almost reconsidered as he thought that any sort of sentiment would make this harder. No, it wasn't sentiment, he decided. This hero just looked…different. Something about him seemed like he actually cared about the people in the city, and not his own reputation. Speaking of reputations, Silas glimpsed Iron Fist for a moment from the corner of his eye at the crime scene. So his father was finally showing up. How horrified he would be to know who was behind it. Silas grinned. Not yet. The time for that reunion was yet to come. For now, he was waiting for the younger hero to take notice of him conspicuously lurking.

@knightinadream group

Atticus parked the motorbike watching the people move around the crime scene. Gently, he rubbed his right hand against his shoulder. A car past by him parking just a few feet away. Some man came out along with someone else. Leaning forward, he squinted trying to see who it was. If he was right, it's Mister Chen, Silas's father. Surprising how his friend's father is working on these strings of crimes. From what he could remember Silas telling him, the man isn't as trustworthy as he seems.

Making any moves closer would defiantly stir up some curiosity. Chances of anyone figuring out who he is, even Mister Chen, is low; it's also a gamble he doesn't want to take at the moment. Still, he has to find a way to see what is going on. Clues leading to next one might be lying there, he can get them and prepare. Maybe, just maybe the villain is close by too.

The restaurant building! It has a side ladder going up to the rooftop! Hopping off of the motorbike, he dashed over to the side. A boost of energy rushed through his veins as he climbed the ladder rushing his way up to the top. Stairs like these were hard to get up so quickly, especially without making a peep. Thankfully the place was full of cacophony from the crime scene and the late-night traffic from downtown.

Ambling to the edge of the building, he glanced down at what was below. Two pools of blood laid on top of the asphalt. His eyes followed the two stretchers with sheets covering the bodies. Atticus frowned as the ambulances drove off. And once again, he noticed the black substance just centimetres away from the blood.

Thud. Atticus felt his heart beat harder than before. Is something going on? No can't be, everything that is going on is below him. Anxiously, he stood away from the edge glancing around trying to find anything out of place. His eyes widened in seconds seeing the cloaked figure. They look exactly like the one in the screenshot.
