Hello people of Notebook.ai! I have a really neat idea for those forums, I think it'll be pretty fun but I need at least a few people to do it, since it'll require feedback and it'll be timed, at least ideally. If very few people (or no one at all) want to participate, I'll just delete the topic, lock it in my memory and pretent it never happened at all :''). Without further ado…

The Character Science Fair is some sort of "event" just to provide us some feedback! Basically, the essence of the challenge is someone (one user at a time) will make all their characters' profiles public for 24 hours (now you see why it was timed? and why only one user at a time?). During these 24H, everyone else is free to look at their OCs' profiles, and leave feedback for the creator!

And "why science fair???", I can hear you furiously typing! Well, because it'll be like an online science fair stand, where your characters are your project, and everyone is free to take a look and tell you their thoughts! Therefore, it'll be better if it's timed, since it'll be hard to control if everyone makes everything public at once, 24H won't be enough for so much content and feedback will be all mixed for several different users, it'll just be way too messy.

Anyway, tell me what you guys think of this event! If y'all want to do this and it works, we can do the same with other page types (preferably only Characters, Items, Locations and Universes, since not everyone is a premium user).

• If you want to participate, PLEASE STATE WHEN YOU WANT YOUR 24H TO START. Remember, only one person at a day, so if you wanna participate, leave a warning first!! Otherwise you might not get much feedback because there was too much content summing up you and other user(s). Not even to mention the chaotic feedback replies to so many people. Yikes.
• You're welcome to be just an observer! You don't have to participate to leave feedback, so feel free to stop by even if you don't want to unprivate your profiles. Any feedback is feedback!
• Feedback will always be in this thread/discussion, but please, for the love of God, TAG THE USER/CREATOR in your reply!
• Keep the feedback professional. No personal grudges, no straight-out offensive content, no non-constructive criticism. Keep it clean.
• Both positive and negative feedback is allowed. It's actually even ideal to leave constructive criticism, unless the user clearly states they don't want any negative feedback, or you just really love their work that much. This is supposed to help us improve our characters, so an all-fluff approach isn't quite ideal, but I know some people are just more sensitive so if that's your case, make it clear. The default is positive and negative feedback. Again, remember the previous rule, if it's not constructive, just don't say it.
• Don't forget to make all your characters public! Yes all! This includes the incomplete profiles, the spelling errors, all the little rough around the edges pages in there, that's the fun! :D I myself have many incomplete OC pages (…….. ok, most of the pages are), so that's the cool part, seeing all the little works in progress and getting feedback on them. That's actually how I had this idea, all the profiles we share in the forums are either our favorites or the crispy clean ones, so now why not see the behind the scenes?
• The 24H start the day you stated, but first, you need to unprivate your profile and then all your characters' as well. THEN the clock starts ticking, so keep that in mind you should have that public before the set time. You don't craft your posters and assemble your cubicle during the science fair event, after all!
• The timezone will be GMT (Greenwhich Mean Time), since it's the standard. Just type "GMT [your country name]" and you'll find yours, mine is GMT-3, so if I start at 12PM GMT, It's actually 9 AM where I live. If you live, for example, in New Zealand, and you wanna start at 10AM, you'll write 10PM GMT. Trigger warnings: Not many; there are a few characters with potentially triggering sections in their profiles but they're all marked at the appropriate place.
Day and start time: I'll wait for more people to join and see when they open their character profiles so I can just fill in the gaps. All my characters are public (most are public anyway, but the ones that aren't don't have enough info in their pages to critique at all), so timing doesn't matter too much for me.
Would love to get negative criticism on any of my characters as long as it's constructive!

Question: I've only started using notebook A.I seriously for a handful of weeks, so I only have 3 profiles that have ANY information in them and a whole bunch of profiles that only have a name. Yes, that's fine! it's actually the whole point lmao. I also have only 20 pages, and only a few of them are considerably filled out. It's part of the fun, we just probably won't have much feedback on these characters, but that's OK in my opinion. Even if you only have 1 filled profile, you're good to go!

Thank you! and yeah, I don't see a problem with this, as long as the other people want to be mutuals as well! (I'm only saying this because I've seen some profiles that state "please don't DM me" or things of that sort, but otherwise I think it's a neat idea!)

Maybe we could start with just the five people who are interested so far and always add in more if they feel like participating? The cool thing about this idea is that I think it could work as an ongoing thing, and more people could join in whenever.

It's better to post here, but always tag the creator when you do! otherwise this thread will get messy as heck. Just don't do that with users that state they don't want DMs, I've seen some profiles like that here on Notebook.ai

Hey! I started with criticisms for Henka! I will try to work with your other characters soon, his red hair is what drew my attention (I also dmed ya, sorry for the spam lmao)

• First off his profile is very organized and details! OMG AND YOUR PICTURES FOR HIM ARE VERY GOOD.

• You mentioned he believes his race is meant to be slaughtered in battles. Does this create some underlying insecurity for him?

• You also mentioned hes resistant to people who are above him in power, but he believe his race is meant to serve in battle, so where does this come from? I like that hes conflicting and hypocritical in many ways, it fits oddly well with him! I just am lost with his reasoning of wanting to be in power but also believing his purpose is to serve. Does he believe he is an exception?

• You mentioned he has speech issues, AND I THINK ITS SUCH A GREAT WAY TO DIFFERENTIATE HIM!!I think he would also have a lisp with "p" and "b" because in order to make those sounds you have to close your lisps and pop it. Play around with the sounds youll see what i mean hehe. I feel his tusks might make that hard since he wont be able to close his mouth properly? Idk just an idea!

• For his favorite possession being flowers he gets, even if they are dead theres still ways to preserve them! He can hang them and dry them out, and create different crafts with them (since hes so creative.)

• "the last night before he DID, Inoue announced what she'd done, and said she'd leave with him to flee from the claws of Setarcos. Henka had his world DESTROYED." Slightly confused as to why. I think you should mention how the abuse changed his view of Inoue and their relationship. Were they close before the favoritism? Did he hate her after? Envy her? Did she try to help him?

• "Since this is gonna be an RPG, from this point on the storylines diverge, but one thing that remains consistent is that Henka goes on a downwards spiral, becoming more and more aggressive, indulging in self-harm and doing more drugs/alcohol, his addiction getting stronger as his mental health gets weaker." What is causing him to get worse? From my perspective its the fact that he doesnt have love in his life, so he tried to fill this void with aggression; when this didn't work he tried drugs. What are some possible triggers that make him NEED to smoke? Is it someone talking positively about their family? Someone having a good relationship with their dad? Does he ever get jealous of a good father/son relationship? A good sister/brother relationship?

• "often confusing his attachment with love." OHHHH I LIKE THIS. Now is it confusing because he doesn't know what love is like? Or he doesn't understand if he loves her as a friend or more?

• Although hes small and weak physically I thought it would be interesting if he tried to eliminate every flaw possible. Since hes insecure and holds himself to a high standard I personally pictured he would try to excersice to eliminate this "weak" stereotype of his. Would it work? UP TO YOU

• AMAZING AND THERE WERE NO REAL MISTAKES. MINOR MISSPELLING BUT HEY, YOU'RE HUMAN!! Have fun with him, cant wait to read more~

• I love your art! And I love how descriptive you were with the characters appearances.
• The bonus information at the end of each profile was nice, it kind of helped me get a better feel for who each character really was.
• I'm sorry I already forgot her name, but Marilynn? Her? Anyways, an interfaith marriage can kind of be a big deal, it depends a lot on the denomination, so you might want to read about that a bit. I understand they're not the main characters so figuring that out isnt a priority though.

• I absolutely LOVE that you included the HEX code for the colors, as an artist this helps a lot when someone else draws them. I never thought of this before, I'll probably implement it in my own profiles too lmao
• For Araite, I love her design so much man, and I think it's just adorable how she tries every hobby she wants even if she fails miserably at it, it's simply adorable! Specially for a goddess, she just seems very humble. I just have a sof spot for characters who romanticize everyday human life, what can I do, huh? She also gave me some Rose Quartz (Steven Universe) vibes. On the other hand, I think she's a bit too… Overpowered? Or Mary Sue-ish? I mean, sure she's supposed to be very wholesome but she deserves to have a few flaws as well, as well as power limitations. Maybe she's too forgiving to the point she'd let people do horrible things to her, or her fascination with human life makes her be neglectful of her duties as a Goddess. I saw that Sonne has limits and consequences, but how do these play out for the GODDESS of Sun? I just feel that her godly side is making her too immune to all the limitations and rules of that magic, even if she's the Sun's favorite. I don't know enough about the worldbuilding to say what is a plausible downside to her as a goddess and nor a regular human or how much the powers can do, so that's completely up to you. Also, as always, take it with a grain of salt because maybe that's exactly the point, maybe she's supposed to be like that and her excessive power & positive traits are a plot point in the story, so you do you!
• For Eilore: BEAUTIFUL NAME, BEAUTIFUL DESIGN, IT HAS PURPLE IN IT YOU WON ME, MATE. I really liked the detail in her clock, how it marks the Goddess of Life's lifespan, very meta and a wonderful touch for something most people would overlook. I found her infatuation with the Goddess a little strange, because at the same time that she considers herself the best, she's still open to cause harm even to herself to please Her, like both a superiority and inferiority complex. Maybe she wants to convince herself that she's the best but inside she doesn't feel this way, so she shows this through adoration towards the Goddess? It's not at all a plot hole or paradox, just something I feel could he a bit more elaborated on :) This also clashes a bit with how she sacrifices everything for Her, but "Eilore chooses the easiest way to victory and is not prepared to make sacrifices", is there a reason for her to "ignore her morals when it comes to Goddess of Life"? Since as far as I picked up she was created by Her, does she feel she "owes" her life in a certain way? I like how her favorite food is a common thing despite her saying saying she has finer tastes, she sounds like she tries so hard to be tough and sophisticated, and smart, and excell in everything while inside she just wants a hedgehog and living in a van lmao. Also, "Eilore's sense of color, shape, and size are all within the normal range. However, Eilore's kilotai allows her to see beyond Earth and into the planes of time, which can lead to some unexpected perks in her vision" THIS. I LOVE THIS. I actually liked her more than Araite!
• For the Goddess of life, I really like her aesthetic, and I feel like she might be very calm and collected, yet extremely imponent, the type that doesn't have to yell to impose respect. From what I read in the other profiles, she seems like a well rounded character!
• For Tygios, LORD PLEASE I NEED HIS BACKSTORY BECAUSE FROM WHAT I READ IN ARAITE'S PROFILE I FEEL HE'D BE MY SECOND FAVORITE (after Eilore, of course lmao)
• For Ruiku and Veinami, I gotta say it's hilarious how Eilore and Ruiku's aesthetics are super dark and gloomy and then you have their kid, Veinami, I could tell they smell like sea breeze, marshmallow and cotton candy, they're adorable :D

@Ariavaana I apologize for being a day late, but here's my thoughts on Nyaery and Eilore!

• First of all, I like how you included name pronunciation and hex codes! Have you heard of refsheet.net? It's more artist-oriented and has a specific place in character profiles where you can enter in hex codes/label them and get color palettes :) it might be worth checking out!
• I appreciate you explaining why the characters have the mannerisms they do!
• In Nyaery's Flaws section, you say he pushes people away "for no particular reason"–but it seems as though there's a lot of reasons, many due to his past interactions with other characters, that he's developed this habit! There's always a reason for that sort of thing, and touching on that here might be good.
• It's really interesting that Nyaery is lazy and slacks off from his duties himself, but views humans as lazy as well. Maybe you could mention that hypocrisy somewhere?
• On to Eilore! Not really a critique, but I like the detail of the scars on her hands, very cool :)
• The idea that as a time goddess, she stays close to the goddess of life–not to protect her, necessarily, but to feel in control–is so, so interesting!! I would love to see more specifics on what you mentioned in her Flaws, about how she "ignores her morals when it comes to the Goddess of Life".
• I think it would be helpful to see more specifics on Eilore's relationship with the Goddess and what her job entails. What powers come with being the time goddess, exactly? Can she see into the future or anything like that? That sort of thing. (I apologize if specifics on her powers were already mentioned in her profile and I just missed them!)
  Overall, your character profiles are filled with some really unique ideas and takes on gods–I think if you add a couple more reasons behind flaws, prejudices, etc. you would be good to go. Thanks for letting me take a look at your characters!
