forum Backstory idea (ideas?) For a sports character?

I have a character who recently starting working as a pro wrestler, the problem is, I can't seem to think of a backstory for him. He has clear goals (to make pro wrestling popular again and to win all of his companies championships.), But I can't seem to think of why he wants those things. I wanted to establish him as a young and cocky up-and-comer with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. But I'm completely having a writers block. Help?

Maybe he was a really good wrestler in high school/college(if "pro" doesn't mean he's in college right now haha), but not many people really cared. He could believe that he deserved for people to see and appreciate him, but it just didn't happen, so now he's trying to make it happen.

Keep in mind I have absolutely no idea how wrestling works, this was just something that I thought up.
