For example:
Everyone knew there was a drug cartel running underground, but no one knew where it came from or who was in it. Except for me. I started it. But I never thought the "White Glove" would go so far as undermining governments.

Or:
The man sat back in his lounge chair. "You work in I.T., right?"
I nodded my head. "Yeah, but what does that have to do with your magic?"
He chuckled. "Kid, everything runs on some system or code, on earth we call it 'Physics'," He made quotation marks with the last word, but not with his hands, actual quotation marks appeared in the air! "You only need to learn three things after that: how to read the code, how to write the code, and how to access the code." He waved his hand and a bottle of root beer appeared out of thin air.
"You can call me a god, wizard, chosen one, whatever. But in reality, I'm just a programmer."

"Sir, I know it is unusual to trouble you so, but I've found something amazing!" the farmer said, holding up an old stringed instrument. "I can make music with this, we need to share this gift with the world!"
The priest sneered at the farmer and waved his hand dismissively. "Yes we know, it's nothing new. We have no use for that ancient technology. It is a relic of a forgotten age."
The farmer ran in front of the priest again. "Sir, please!" he begged. "I can't believe you're saying this. These things can't be true, the world could use this beauty!"
The priest glared down at the farmer. "Don't annoy us further, this is just another toy that destroyed the Elder Race of Man."

He stood on the hillside, watching the town burn. His friends, his family, all dead or dying.
You need to learn He kept telling himself, remembering what the strange old man told him. You need to know the limits before you can control them.
As he watched the city burn, he couldn't help but smile at what he'd done.

"It's calling me. Don't you hear it's song? It sounds so peaceful" She said.
"I don't hear anything." The boy next to her lied. He heard it's call but he knew to not listen to it. Everyone had told him not to.
She turned and looked at him, a gentle smile on her face. "Then you are not ready. But don't worry. It will accept you when you are." She said as she walked into the dark woods, the branches seeming to curl around her as she walked in.

They say that a the beginning of a story can affect the whole thing. The mood of it, the people, the land and the words help create the theme of the entire thing. My story started on an overcast day, the kind where the air feels heavy and even the most optimistic person falls quiet. Maybe if it had been a clear, beautiful day or a dark, stormy one my tale would have been different, but I’ll never know. I’ll simply tell you what happened, and leave the theorizing to you.
